  2. I have seen the One Farrer Hotel in HW searches as a the likely property via Reveal. It is well rated (Trip Adv 2019 Travelers Choice), seems like decent location, and fairly inexpensive. A very good option it appears. But Grand Park Orchard may be in a better location. The Intercontinental is appealing at that price and a good location, as well as a TA Travelers Choice. Were those found on HW via Bidding Helper? Obviously going the PL route, I am ok with winning any hotel. Thus my "but... you know" comment 🙂 If I decide to book a specific hotel and take no chances, HW or PL, I'll be sure to use mapsandhotels.com

  4. Before bidding, few comments/questions: Thoughts on any of these properties for around the $100-$120 area: One Farrer Hotel (i don't know anything about this property but does get good reviews) Grand Park Orchard or in the $150-$160 range: InterContinental Singapore InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay .... or if you want to bid on PRICELINE are you OK winning any hotel in the zones above? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.
  5. So now in this insanity. Tried to book a couple times. Got an error saying problem with my card but I check with the bank. They say they went through just fine so they call Hotwire and Hotwire says that the room sold out before I hit book and it will take a 5 days to release the holds. i now can’t book anything at all for 5 days because Hotwire offered me rooms they don’t have
  6. I've been playing around with the Bidding Helper to get some background on what appears to be a Country with not a lot of (updated?) data points. I'm looking to stay in the Colonial District, Orchard Rd, or Little India. PL itself shows 5* in those areas ~$200, so I figure bidding less than $100 probably won't get me anywhere. If HW is any indication, 5* seem to be in the $145 range, so maybe ~$120 isn't out of the question. I'd love to score a win for Hotel Fort Canning or Marriott Tang Plaza as they appear in the BB PL hotel list. But... you know. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated as always.
  7. I was using it on Safari and then on Chrome on a netbook.
  8. It was working for me then suddenly started saying invalid. I called them on the phone and ravel won’t pop anymore now of course. They also told me it is for hotels over $200 a night and I had to repeatedly insist the fine print says $200 purchase (and mine was over $360)
  9. It's working for me (on desktop) as i just tried in 3 different browsers: $176.00 per night x 2 nights x 1 room $352.00 Tax recovery charges + fees $108.57 Promo Code -$28.16 Are you on desktop (what Operating System, browser and version) or mobile (what operating system and browser)?
  10. Now it’s telling me the promo is invalid
  11. There is THIS 3.5* Long Island City hotel for $143/nite: Complimentary Free internet Amenities Business center, Fitness center, Pet friendly, Restaurant(s), Smoke-free rooms Accessibility In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom ==> best guess would be the Wyndham Gardne Long Island City ... and this 4 star Long Island City for $176 which i believe we agree is likely The Ravel Let us know whatever you decide and how it goes. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  12. I can’t with Hotwire anymore. I’m going to find something as cheap as humanly possible and I’m going to book it and use up my hot dollars. If it doesn’t meet the promises I’m going to file a cc dispute. I will NEVER seek resolution through Hotwire again and anyone who does is mad
  13. Radisson Wall Street is even cheaper but no balcony or guaranteed view 😭
  14. I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger I’m prob going to regret this but I’m going to try to resist til I get out of the shower 😭
  15. Nervously watching rates creep up. About to pull the trigger on Boro. Any last tips?
  16. Are you seeing any better than 192 for a queen balcony at Boro ? LIC 4.5 * I’m using 1 adult 1 child criteria for 9/11-9-13
  17. Changing search to 2adults/1child i see THIS 4 star hotel in Long Island City for $205/nite which would appear to be the Ravel. (as always confirm your travel details on the landing page) Complimentary Free breakfast, Free internet Amenities Business center, Fitness center, Golf nearby, Pet friendly, Restaurant(s), Smoke-free rooms Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. 18. I can’t get Ravel to pop no matter my criteria unless I omit 9/11. i can get boro Queen with balcony for $196 which is a lot more than I want but puts me in at $10 over HoJo and guarantees a balcony with a Manhattan view. Waiting to hear from you to pull the trigger hopefully
  19. Understood.... would you take the Ravel at a $205/nite Hot Rate? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  20. I can only use my hot dollars on hot rates per the CSR
  21. With your additional Hot Dollars would you do the Ravel at $205/nite?

  23. Wildberry (https://www.yelp.com/biz/wildberry-pancakes-and-cafe-chicago-2) is a short walk away from your hotel, although it is a popular breakfast option so there may be some wait. Fancier is Beatrix (https://www.beatrixrestaurants.com/beatrix/river-north/menu/breakfast/) in River North, which also has lunch/dinner and a coffee/pastry bar (https://www.beatrixrestaurants.com/beatrix/river-north/menu/coffee-pastry-bar/). Siena Tavern (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g35805-d3879063-Reviews-Siena_Tavern-Chicago_Illinois.html) would be another dinner option, as would be Sable (https://www.yelp.com/biz/sable-kitchen-and-bar-chicago-3) and Ema (https://www.emachicago.com/menu/dinner/.) Eataly is also a lot of fun. I'm very familiar with Chicago and happy to answer any questions.
  24. So update. Still having major issues with the hot cash thing and spent literally hours today going in circles about it. Problem is still not fixed but they threw another $40 hot cash at me as a sorry so I will suck it up. Looking for best recommendations fitting the above criteria with $80 hot cash and the 8% and I’m going to try to be a little more flexible in the budget to avoid another nightmare or at least get a good enough deal I can cope cause I don’t want to have to do their resolution process ever again. Asking here as i’m not sure why but your rates are always a few dollars cheaper than what I see and I’m clearly a budget traveler.
  25. ... and then you'll be destined to places like the Howard Johnson, which are not only more than you care to spend, but much more than you care to spend for that quality.
  26. Yeah it’s gone thanks to my hot cash not working from mobile and hotwire’s refusal to help think I’m going to quit blind booking
  27. I'm not seeing this property offered at all anymore (at any price) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
