Thank you for sharing your win with the board and helping us update the Minneapolis Hotwire Hotel List with the latest amenity set for this hotel. Please click the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy the concert and this leg of your stay, feel free to start a NEW TOPIC if you need help with additional nites once your airfare is situated.
  3. I did get Renaissance Depot but changed the dates. July 14th to 16th at $95 per night. Also it was now showing as a 3 star and not 3.5. Amenities the same.

Thank you for closing this thread with your decision. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

    July 10-13

I just updated the previous thread. We are willing to accept any star rating and no real maximum budget, we are just gathering information at this point and seeing our options. We will have two adults and three kids.

    Disney Hotel

we changed the dates. Thank you.
  8. That's a key point - I actually thought they stopped offering that, but used your Bidding For Hotel Rooms link and found the old bidding site. Sure works well for the Vegas hotels.
  9. Congratulations on your success! Glad to see this win came fairly easily and that you're happy with the outcome... one of my favorite Vegas hotels. Now that priceline is making it more difficult to find the bidding page on their site (they continue to move/hide it) we have set up the following page for quick and easy access, should you ever need it in the future (so bookmark now): BiddingForHotelRooms.com Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please click the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Have a great stay... and good luck in Vegas!
  10. Took 3 bids - lots of zones without 5 stars to use. Northeast 5-stars are fabulous properties.

    July 10-13

Do these dates replace your previous plans to visit Disney from June 8-14? Please follow-up your previous thread if your plans for those dates have changed or if you have already booked accommodates for that trip. For the trip above, what is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept and what is your maximum budget? Do you need accommodations for something other than 2adults/0children? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

    July 10-13

I am looking for a Disney hotel for the dates of July 10 - 13. I am not seeing any, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Thanks
  13. Most who come to NYC pay a LOT for a hotel room, and when paying more they expect more, but they don't necessarily realize just how expensive NYC is (including hotel rooms). Given it is frequently the most they have ever spent on a hotel room (in any other city) they have high expectations, and are letdown when the room is one of the smallest they have ever stayed in. They may feel 'ripped off' but the reality is just that NYC is much more expensive, and rooms are much smaller, than in just about any other part of the country. At the 3 star level in NYC your friend should expect a basic and clean room. If there are serious problems then s/he can try to resolve with the hotel and/or call PRICELINE to get them involved, but any issues would need to be tangible as opposed to not liking the decor, the hotel being dated, etc. Now that you have found BetterBidding have your friend post here in the future or ask for help with your own trips. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
  14. Thank you so much for the response. It certainly helps alot. The booking is for my friend who has not been in NYC that often. Certainly if it was for myself, I would not have that much concern as I normally stayed in Flushing. The 1 star rating I found is from Google when I search for Mayfair Hotel New York which I thought that was odd. My guess would be for the many negative reviews that I’ve seen, they probably came during the renovation periods or are not familiar with the NYC style smaller room.
  15. Welcome to BetterBidding! Not sure where you are seeing this as a 1 star hotel, but if you find one site that rates this 1 star and all the other are 3 star, then you have to go with the consensus that this is more likely a 3 star property. There is no standardized methodology for assigning star levels to hotels, and each company can use their own criteria, but if companies consistently overrate hotels (especially PRICELINE / HOTWIRE where it is a 'blind' booking) then customers would stop using their service, so the star ratings they assign are typically inline with expectations. With the above noted, star ratings are subjective... you can get a customer who loves a Motel 6 and thinks it deserves much more than a 1 star rating, likewise you can get a customer who is disappointed in a 5 star Ritz Carlton and thinks it should be rated much lower. So i suppose the question for you is 'What do you need from this hotel for this stay and based upon what you have read so far, where do you think it may fall short?" I'm local to this area and although i have never stayed at this property, and i can tell you that it's very centrally located just off of Times Square, with easy access to 3 different subway stations within 2 blocks away. It's an older hotel, likely a bit dated, and rooms are probably small as is common throughout NYC, but if you just need a clean room for the nite i would expect that it will meet your needs. It wouldn't be my first choice for an extended stay, but then again it comes down to what your needs are and (more importantly) your budget, as you're not likely going to find many Time Square properties for this price at this time of year. Feel free to ask the board for help before your next trip as we can help you find the best deal based upon your needs, travel plans, and budget... as well as help you avoid disappointment in your purchase. Not sure if you needed to be in this specific area, but there are usually other zones nearby that provide better value and are just as convenient for the average tourist. NYC is one of those places where we typically recommend that users stick with the higher star rated properties and chain properties since they are often newer and/or more recently renovated. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Enjoy your time in NYC.
  16. 3* Times Square - Theatre District for $136/nite with: Business Center Restaurant Free Internet available Free Internet I booked the above 3 star express deal from priceline for the Times Square Theater District area. Hotel reveals as Mayfair hotel. Upon checking on google, it shows that this is a 1 star hotels while any hotel booking site would claim this is 3 stars. The reviews are also mixed as some of the recent gave very poor review but some spoke very positively of it (questionable). i called PRICELINE and they demand that this hotel will exceed my expectation but my question to them is what if it's not and I am getting a 1 star hotel while paying for 3? They offered me to call the hotel directly and the guest service folk does not even know how many stars they have even though he didn't acknowledge the fact that Google listed them as 1 star. Any body stayed in this hotel before? I would really appreciate any thought and input anybody can give for this. Thank you.

Washington DC White House Area 5*

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (always use this method for your searches/purchases to ensure you're seeing the complete amenity set and for an easy comparison of PRICELINE vs. HOTWIRE, as well as to use our new IS THIS A GOOD PRICE feature). If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 5 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates: 5* HOTWIRE White House for $175.00 Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ==> from the Washington DC Hotwire Hotel List this matches previous reports for the Sofitel and that would be my best guess for this one This information is reference to the last person who bought a hotel of this star rating in the zone, not necessarily in reference to the underlying hotel that is currently being offered. So this does tell you that The Jefferson is now a 5 star option in this area, but does not give you any insight as to the underlying hotel for this offer. What is it that you're looking for in a hotel for this trip and what is your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes)? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

I tried to go through the booking process and noticed it says there's $58 resort fee due at the hotel. I'm guessing that means I'll get the Sofitel... since I don't think The Jefferson even has resort fees... Not really interested in Sofitel at this rate.. What do you all think?
  19. Amenities Boutique hotelBusiness centerFitness centerInternet accessPet friendlyRestaurant(s)Smoke-free roomsSpa services Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired $175 a night. What I thought was interesting was that it says the last person that booked got THE JEFFERSON. I noticed The Jefferson has never been reported on here... Do you think that's likely what I'll get?
  20. Congratulations on your success! Hope you're happy with the results and this hotel will be convenient for your plans this trip. Thank you for sharing your win with the board. A reminder that if you ever have trouble finding the bidding page for priceline (as they are constantly moving/hiding it) we have set up BiddingForHotelRooms.com so that the bidding form is always quickly and easily accessible. Please click the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Have a great stay.

  22. For this (well reviewed) hotel: 3.5* HOTWIRE Downtown Minneapolis for $93.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Indoor Pool Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> The Depot Minneapolis: a Renaissance Hotel would be my best guess for this one Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.

  24. Welcome to BetterBidding! (and a thank you to your co-worker for helping to spread the word! ) Some info to get you started... Free Breakfast is not an amenity that is found at 5 star hotels in the US (not that uncommon in Europe, but i can think of maybe 3-4 throughout the entire US that breakfast as a free amenity). If also considering HOTWIRE i'm seeing the following that seem to meet your criteria (i've included both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS, as HOTWIRE seems to have a bit more inventory/options at the moment, as well as we currently have a 10% off Hotwire Coupon (expires tomorrow)): (NOTE: HOTWIRE does not have a 'Union Square' zone but is generally covered by the Gramercy Park - Nomad - Flatiron zone) 4* SoHo - Tribeca (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $168/nite with: Restaurant Free Internet available Free Internet Fitness Center ==> Frederick hotel is my guess for this one 4* HOTWIRE Gramercy Park - Nomad - Flatiron for $172.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> Life Hotel Nomad is my best guess here 4* HOTWIRE Gramercy Park - Nomad - Flatiron for $173.00 Free Internet Fitness Business Hi-Speed Internet Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Handicapped Parking ==> best guess for this one would be the Avalon Hotel 4.5* HOTWIRE Gramercy Park - Nomad - Flatiron for $177.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet ==> Redbury New York is likely for this one 4.5* HOTWIRE SoHo - Tribeca for $193.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet ==> Nomo Soho is likely outcome here 4* HOTWIRE SoHo - Tribeca for $209.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet ==> Smyth, a Thompson hotel is my guess for this one 4.5* HOTWIRE SoHo - Tribeca for $212.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Hi-Speed Internet Wheelchair Accessible ==> Soho Grand is my best guess for this one I will add that if you're willing to stay outside of one of the areas above, i would consider this property: 4.5* Madison Square Garden - Convention Area (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $192/nite with: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Free Internet in room Fitness Center Free Internet in public areas ==> this is consistent with previous reports for the Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan which is a fairly new hotel (about 2 years old maybe) and has been getting excellent reviews. It is also 2 blocks from Penn Station for easy subway access to multiple subway lines So with the above noted, you can choose one of these (confirm with us first which one you would like to go for, since there are so many i didn't do our full 'checks / confirmation' for each one, but will do so if there is one in particular that you're interested in)... or you can try bidding on PRICELINE. If you'd like to try bidding on PRICELINE you won't be able to target/guess as to the hotel you may receive prior to your purchase. Also note that if you do want to move forward by bidding on priceline (vs. one of the PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE offers above) we can suggest a strategy for you to follow, but priceline is continuing to move/hide their bidding form, so we have set up the following page for easy access: BiddingForHotelRooms.com Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts as to how you'd like to proceed, or any questions you may have (as i'm very familiar with the NYC area), and we can take it from there.
  25. Hello! This is my first post, and I was referred to this site by an especially helpful coworker. I'm excited to try this for the fist time! My husband and I are traveling on our first kid-free trip in years to NYC. We'd love to find a 4/5* hotel in Union Square / SoHo areas for around $200 a night. We'll be in NYC from 8/5 - 8/8. Free breakfast would be a nice but not necessary amenity. Walkable proximity to things like subway stops, yummy restaurants, and good coffee would be amazing.
  26. Congratulations on your success! Hope this works well for your plans for the nite and that you're looking forward to your stay at this well reviewed property. Thank you for using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase and sharing your win, helping us add this hotel to the Fort Myers Hotwire Hotel List. Have a great trip.
