Thanks.
  3. Hello, I am so new to this and it's still really confusing. I need help trying to book the best deal for the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa (Central Kaanapali) for Aug 31 - Sept 4, 2019. Please help me find the best deal and how to book. Thanks!
  4. I've reached out to HOTWIRE, will update once I hear anything. I don't know if they will make this code valid or issue a new code entirely.
  5. SUMMERTIME8 - it says that "This promo code isn't valid" Can you check please? Screenshot

  7. thank you for the information. it appears as though the Omni Berkshire has the best reviews from past guests, however, after taxes and fees, the total is $524.58, which ends up costing almost $175/night. I checked out the cheaper $90/night option hotel, and it has atrocious reviews. /: I appreciate all your help, but I've spent hours looking and reading that I must separate myself from the monitor before I get sick. Maybe next time!
  8. I'm away from a computer for the next few hours (on mobile now so ignore any typos) so won't be able to search/research until later. However, you can easily see all 5 star hotels within your budget using the sort/filter functionality of our BiddingHelper.com tool. Do your search and then in either (or both) the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW or PRICELINE EXPRESS tabs filter the results (using the checkboxes on the left side of the page) to show you only 5 star hotels and then click the PRICE button near the top of the results... you will then see all 5 star hotels offered for these dates sorted by price from lowest to highest. As well, if you like researching you can then click the BLUE 'Find Match in Hotel List' button within any listing. Anything less than 100% we can research that property further for you and update the hotel list accordingly. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how you make out or how we can be of further help.
  9. I appreciate your patience with me so much. it's my first time utilizing this site and I'm a little lost, but your help is amazing. Just for sh!ts and giggles, what 5* hotel do you think is being offered within the midtown/rockerfeller/central park area under $150/night? I'm really digging researching these places and seeing all these amazing deals!
  10. Each one has a link attached right above the description Please use the links in the post / on the board for your purchases. If you have any issues let us know and we'll walk you thru step-by-step for whichever property you decide upon. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
  11. whoops. just reread and 3 of them state hotwire. sorry! the 4.5 is via priceline?
  12. WOW!! thank you so much!!! Will research and get to booking! are those based off of using priceline (express or regular) or hotwire? not sure which one to go to, to get those rates
  13. All set... thank you for closing this thread with your decision. Note that we currently have a Hotwire Coupon available, and also MAPS and HOTELS.com for your future regular hotel bookings. Enjoy your stay and time in NYC.
  14. Hi, we just booked Crowne Plaza but using an OTA as price ended up being cheaper and certainty of which hotel we will be getting. Thank you for both your help and this has been very helpful and we will keep this for future bookings. If there is a way to close/delete this thread please let me know.

  19. I'm heading out in just a bit so i'll try to add more a bit later, but to get you started: July 4th - it's not going to be anything like your home town where you can bring a blanket and sit in the park... it's more likely going to be wall-to-wall people, some of who get there in the early afternoon in order to get a good spot. Depending upon your hotel room location you may have an excellent view of the large firework display that happens in Jersey City (at Liberty State Park). I'm not suggesting you head to Jersey City, but much of the Conrad faces the Hudson River and you may have a great view from inside the hotel (especially if on a higher floor). I would ask at check-in if you could have a room that might have a view of the fireworks... if you can get a good fireworks view from your room you may want to do that, if no view from your room then go with a backup plan, but realize it's going to be very crowded. Walking Tours - my favorite recommendation is to take the A or C train to High Street (first stop outside of Manhattan, in Brooklyn). Walk down the hill, bypass Grimaldi's Pizza and instead go to Julianna's (both will have a long line, you can google the history between the two, but given the long lines i like to get there just as they open so that we walk right in and don't have a long wait). Afterwards, you can continue down the hill to the water and get the kids (and yourself )dessert at the Ice Cream Factory. From there finish your cones/sundaes on the water, or walk while licking your cones, back towards the Brooklyn Bridge and walk the bridge back to Manhattan, taking in the Skyline view (and the Statue of Liberty) as you walk the bridge like a local New Yorker... just remember to stay on the correct side of the path to not get in the way of the bicyclists who often come speeding past. Economy Candy - 108 Rivington St lots of old time candy, bulk candies, novelties, etc... good prices (definitely try the dark chocolate covered graham crackers) Roosevelt Island Tram - nice way to see the city skyline all for the cost of a roundtrip subway ride Coney Island - it takes awhile to get there (figure an hour on the subway) and it might be fun if that's your thing and/or your kids like amusement park rides... to me i'm more fascinated that there is a 'real' beach just outside of Manhattan than i am enamored by the rides. I don't think many tourists necessarily make out this way as there are too many other things to do closer to (or inside of) Manhattan vs. the time it takes to get to Coney Island (but again, if beaches and/or an amusement rides are your thing, it something to consider doing) Statue of Liberty - if you want to see Lady Liberty and don't want to make a whole day out of visiting the island, the Staten Island Ferry (free) travels right past it making for a good photo opportunity. On the ride from Staten Island back to Manhattan i like to see at the front of the boat as we approach lower Manhattan. Great time to do this is to plan your trip so that you're returning back to Manhattan at dusk just as the lights of the skyline begin to illuminate, yet still bright enough outside to see things. Sailboat ride - once a summer we like to take THIS COMPANY'S saiboat ride from Chelsea Pier to the Statue and Liberty and back. Not as much a fan of their 'yacht' and 'architecture' tours, but we LOVE their sailboat rides (Adirondack or Schooner)... pull away from the dock and my stress is just left behind. However, know what this is... it is not a touristy sailboat ride pointing out the NYC sights, it's a relaxing trip with little narrative; just a great way to see the city from the water (ie- as an example, on one our trips a few years ago, we are approaching the statue of liberty and captain gets on the microphone, "if you look to your right you will see the Statue of Liberty... this concludes the sightseeing section of this trip"). ... and previously mentioned in a post above: Adrienne's Pizza Bar Questions / Comments??
  20. I believe the Express Deal below is The Line Hotel in Adams Morgan; however, there is no resort fee listed in the total. If I get The Line Hotel, will Priceline reimburse the resort fee that they charge? 4.5-Star Hotel Dupont Circle - Woodley Park Area 8/5 - 8/6 8+ Guest Rating Double Bed - Standard Room - 2 Beds Requested. $80 per night Room Subtotal: $80.00 Taxes and Fees: $26.97 Total Charges: $106.97 $80 per night Includes: Bed Choice Available Free Internet Available Free Internet Access Hotel Amenities Free Internet Available Pets Allowed Fitness Center Handicapped Rooms/Facilities Restaurant Free Internet Access
  21. Some thoughts: 4.5* Times Square - Theatre District (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $206/nite with ($207 for 2 Double Beds + Sofabed): Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center Free Internet in public areas ==> New York Marriott Marquis... large, iconic, hotel right in the center of Times Square (not my favorite location but i understand how tourists would might want to stay here). This hotel is rarely seen so i would act sooner rather than later if this one is of interest (would also be an easy hotel to only have two guests go up to the check-in desk while the other two 'wonder' around) 4.5* Empire State Building Area (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $256/nite with ($276/nite for 2 Doubles): Pets Allowed Restaurant Free Internet available Free Internet ==> Archer Hotel New York... admittedly i don't know much about the hotel itself, but it gets GREAT reviews and one of the top rated hotels in NYC; location is good with two different subway stations about 5 blocks away 4* HOTWIRE Madison Square Garden for $231.38 (search for 4adults) Free Internet Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet ==> Crowne Plaza NY36 Midtown Manhattan; already mentioned above that gets excellent reviews and great location. Rooms are not that big, but typical for NYC. 4.5* HOTWIRE Rockefeller Center for $248.00 Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Deaf Accessible ==> Omni Berkshire... solid hotel, i like location of others above a bit better, and this would be a fine choice if the you didn't have so many other awesome hotels to choose from 4.5* HOTWIRE Rockefeller Center for $260.00 Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible ==> Warwick New York... a bit 'historic' for my own tastes (i prefer newer and more modern hotels) but if this fits your style then it does have a great location and the hotel gets good reviews Thoughts on the offers above? I don't think you can really go wrong with any of these, if within budget my own choice would probably be the Archer simply because it is currently the #15 ranked hotel in NYC... but if didn't want to spend that much i would go with the less expensive Crowne Plaza HY36. Again, these are based upon my personal preferences and the types of hotels that i prefer, so if you feel that there is one above that would better meet your own style (and impress your in-laws) i think they are all excellent choices. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. (or somebody else is making the purchase please ask them to stop by the board and use the links here to begin the purchase) Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help (or any other questions regarding NYC).
  22. Hi there! I'm getting closer to feeling ready for this trip, and wondered if you had any rec's for a walking tour app. I know Detours is now defunct, which is a shame as it seemed to be a fave with many people. I'm traveling with my kids, ages 14 and 12. (we all have phones, for better or worse...) Thanks for your thoughts!! I'm also wondering about 4th of July. Any tips for making the most of this? This is what I've been told: "the fireworks will be launched from the Brooklyn Bridge, with good views around Battery Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn Heights, & Brooklyn Promenade". I've ruled out any of the $300+ ticketed options, so I assume this just means bringing a blanket and maybe a small cooler and finding a spot to sit in a park? I was also told spending the day at Coney Island might be fun. Any suggestions or thoughts much appreciated! -- Karen
  23. Thank you for prompt response. Priceline express with bed choice is an option available for us.
  24. For both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS, the room rate does not include taxes/fees, but if you click through on the hotel offer to the checkout page you will see the total after taxes/fees. Also note that when there is a resort fee this may also be shown by Priceline/Hotwire as an additional line item, but you won't be charged this now, it will be charged directly at the hotel at check-out. It will look something like this: Price per Night Rooms Nights Room Subtotal (which here would be: cost of room per night X # of rooms X # of nights) Taxes/Fees Total Charges Today (sum of Room Subtotal + Taxes/Fees) Additional Mandatory Fee Total Cost (sum of Total Charges Today and Additional Mandatory Fee) NOTE: you will be charge by PRICELINE / HOTWIRE the 'Total Charges Today' amount... the 'Total Cost' amount is shown for your own budgeting purposes so you know your 'all-in' number including any mandatory resort fees Hope the above answers your question but if not just clarify any part you're still not sure about and we will explain further. Also, if you let us know if PRICELINE EXPRESS (with Bed Choice) is an option or not i will suggest which may be your best options. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help.
  25. Thank you Thereuare and AaronJB . We are open to 4* options and will take a look at the options above. another criteria that I forgot to mention was that we will be coming from Asia and this will be our first leg so will have bulky luggages with us so place to open suitcase will be ideal. I will take a look at the above options and report back after we book.
