  1. If you used LMT's opaque site, did you know the hotel by the amenities? I'm a member of the LMT Club and they list the names of hotels; the Whitcomb is $5 more at $66!
  2. I just checked out HOTWIRE 3*. The key amenities to check are self-laundry and a complimentary breakfast, should be Residence Inn or Holiday Inn Express. Across the street or half a block away, respectively, from the Q. If the amenities show a full restaurant and golf nearby. it's probably the Hilton Garden Inn which is about 2 blocks away. All the 3* and 4* are walking distance.
  3. I posted my purchase at Ohio. I paid $59 for seven nights. total was $451.80. The tax and fees totaled $59.28 The tax rate is 15.25%, so the tax was supposed to be $59.78. I thought how does Hotwire make a profit? When I got to the hotel,I noticed Hotwire paid $43.60. $43.60x7x15.25% is $351.74. Subtract 451.80 from 351.74=$100.06. I guess I found out how Hotwire makes a profit!
  4. I forgot to note that I used the HOTWIRE link.
  5. Amenities: fitness center,hi-speed internet access, restaurant, business center, golf nearby...has guest laundry, but it's not listed on Hotwire. Although this is a great hotel,it's not what I expected. I was in a hurry and I thought the restaurant symbol was for complementry breakfast ( I wanted the Residence Inn or the Holiday Inn Express). I guess that I'll have to walk a little bit from Carnegie Ave. to Euclid Ave.
  6. After I booked a 3* hotel in Cleveland, I was surprised. 2.5 was upgraded to 3*! I went back and studied the icons; so I observed the complementary breakfast icon. Before 3* had "Restaurants", 2.5 had "Complementary Breakfasts". So this should be a way to check prior 2.5*'s that were pretty good and that HOTWIRE shows as "Best Value", and has a good Trip Advisor icon.
  7. Amenities: complementary breakfast, laundry, fitness, internet access, business center. This used to be a 2.5*. I made the same selection for 9/26 to 9/30 and got the Residence Inn. Used the HOTWIRE link.
  8. Changing the rules in the middle of the game. Used to be 2.5*. now 3*. Amenities: complimentary breakfast, laundry, fitness, internet access, business center. I'm glad i got this hotel though. I was worried because I want to stay 9 nights, and not sure of the outcome, I split up my time,4 now and 5 later. No luck! With the same rate and amenities, I got the Holiday Inn Express, also a prior 2.5*. I used the HOTWIRE link. The dates should be from 9/26 to 9/30
  9. I'm in Thailand now, so I bid early for planning purposes. I don't why they dropped the rate so much, but I'm sure happy they did! I've been checking the rate for a year now, and whenever I looked at 2.5* customer favorite rates, it was always in the high fifties. At first I bid for a week, and after I found out that the hotel was what I thought it would be,I went for another 5 days. . The amenities are: complementary breakfast, fitness center, business center, self service laundry facilities, internet access. This is a Customer Favorite. I used the HOTWIRE link.
  10. The amenities are: suite,ocean front,airport shuttle,complimentary breakfast,fitness center,pool,restaurant,business center,self service laundry facilities,internet access,golf nearby,kitchenette. Also, I bid PRICELINE 4* first. $57-$66-$67-$68-$69. After I did the math with $16 fees, I went to HOTWIRE.
  11. I'm in Thailand now, so I bid early for planning purposes. Same amenities as listed in the directory, plus it's a Customer Favorite. The other 3.5* (Doubletree) is also a Customer Favorite. I've noticed that Hotwire does that a lot lately. I'm glad that the Trip Advisor ratings were there. I used the HOTWIRE link, but I don't know if BetterBidding received full credit. I researched various earlier dates to see if there were big price differences.I couldn't go back to the original link from BetterBidding, so I clicked Hotels to start over.
  12. Bid $40,was told that I probably wouldn't be accepted. Tried to extend, but the price was $67. Used Savings Barn link.
  13. Fitness center,Restaurant,Business Center. It also had Customer Favorite on the selection page.
  14. I bid on this about two weeks ago. I don't see it come up too much and usually it's more (A Customer Favorite). Same amenities as listed and there is a business room that is free to hotel guests.
  15. Hi Thereuare, I'm confused. This didn't have anything to do with Better Bidding, although the person could have seen my bid. This had to do with Trip Advisor. The person noted a 2.5* award for Comfort Inn Downtown. There are numerous posts on Hampton Inn Downtown with Hotwire awards on the Cleveland hotel reviews forum.
  16. This is a heads up for bidding on a 2.5* in downtown. I read on the TripAdvisor Cleveland Forum, posted 8/26(not the hotel review forum) where the Comfort Inn Downtown was awarded. It looks like the same amenities.
  17. This is at 88th/Euclid. Priceline calls this Cleveland Heights. I would say that it's by University Circle or Midtown Cleveland. Bid at $55,65,70 and $75 was Accepted. Total charges= $619.18, so with 15.5% tax, Priceline fee was at least $12.93
  18. No restaurant. In their website, it says that they have a "hot" complimetary breakfast
  19. Yes, I didn't change my bid price. The reason why I didn't raise is that I really wanted to see what would happen. If I raised, I would have probably been upgraded to 2.5*.
  20. The amenities are: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center (additional fee may apply)
  21. Total was $100 and change. I'm in Thailand. I'm bidding early because planning is important to me. See my post for the SAME nights on the Priceline board. This was almost a "sure thing" after I read reviews at Trip Advisor. Hotwire has been using 2 prices for this hotel lately,$41 and $52 . I played with the browser until $41 came up
  22. P. S. The dates were for 10/13 and 10/14 2005. 2 nights, $91 and change total. Hotel is at 18th and Euclid.
  23. I took a gamble and lost! I played around with 2*, hoping to get the Hampton Inn Downtown ( saw 2* at Priceline's packages). Bid $32,34, 36. No luck, so I dropped down to 1*, hoping to be upgraded to 2*. This is what I got. Terrible. Reading the horror stories at Trip Advisor, I will forfiet this bid, and go over to Hotwire.
