  1. 3* Vancouver, WA hotel = Residence Inn. Confused due to "we are still gathering reviews for this hotel", but really happy to get Residence Inn. They haven't been on HotWire for a few years now. Super psyched about this deal. Full Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Kitchenette
  2. Scored $44 for Residence Inn for 11/5/05 for 1 night. Last month, I paid $68 thinking that I was getting Residence Inn, but ended up getting Staybridge Suites. This is a new hotel to Hotwire. My parents love staying at the Residence Inn and love their hot complimentary breakfast. They did not like Staybridge Suites as well, their breakfast was not that good and hotel not as nice as the Residence Inn. They should enjoy their stay this time with Marriott's new upgraded bedding. I noticed that Hotwire gets really expensive as you get closer to the date of your stay, so better to book in advance as much as possible. Staybridge Suites has 7 icons where Residence Inn has 5. Both are 3 stars, so don't make the mistake. Please see my previous post for Residence Inn Icons. Thanks. -ST
  3. After reading the Vancouver posts, I was hoping to score Westin Bayshore for around $65 - $85. I bid $65 for 4 stars - Vancouver, rejected, got one time offer to increase my bid by $17 ($82), then I thought better of it. Re-bid $72 by entering Delta as a re-bid zone and my offer was accepted! But, it was the Marriott Pinnacle. I stayed at this property before and it's nice and $72 is quite a deal. Went there on 10/22 and the hotel was quite busy, Western Canada music awards was being held there. We happened to get a very nice desk clerk and got to check in early (12 noon) while hearing others had to wait until 3 pm. We did not get a Priceline "cold shoulder" at check in - we ended up getting a very nice corner room! Marriott also just upgraded their bedding so it's almost as nice as the heavenly bed by Westin or Sheraton's sweet sleeper. At check out, it was a different story. We were denied late check out (probably because they were very much booked). They tried to charge me for the room, I told them the room was pre-paid directly to Priceline. He took forever searching their PC, then had to bring in a manager to clarify. Then, he said "Priceline always gives us a headache...". Yeah, whatever. I don't think they get too many priceline bids. I checked out all 4* hotels for Vancouver, and they are all great properties. I usually use Hotwire, but since it was a last minut booking, Hotwire was way too expensive. Thanks betterbidding. - ST
  4. Scorp, Where did you post the photos? ------------------ Jonavin, Westin Grand is also one of my favorite hotels. They have little kitchenettes. The pool is pretty small. You are on Robson St, but way down the other end (from the action) of the Robson street. It's definitely walkable though. You are however, very close to Canada Place and Yale Town. Enjoy your stay. ------------- The BB HOTWIRE link is showing Linkshare error again.... -st
  5. Purchased Residence Inn @ Vancouver Mall Drive again on Hotwire today (Vancouver, WA). $45 + tax = $55. What a deal! I paid $99 on Expedia 2 weeks ago for the same room. Good thing I used Marriott bonus bucks. Amenities are the same as above booking. It seems that Hotwire sporatically offers this hotel at this low rate. Rate for July is $79, so I will keep checking to see if they lower the price. -ST
  6. Hummm, good eye. I thought so, but it may be the Heathman Lodge if it is without the breakfast. I hope they bring back Residence Inn by Marriott. Thanks, -ST
  7. The date of the stay was 5/7/05 (Sat), the dates I am looking to book are 5/13-5/15 (2 nights). Thanks! -ST
  8. I'm thinking of booking Wall Centre via HW. For those of you who completed the stay, were you able to get the new tower (south tower) or the older North tower? I really want to stay in the South tower (new). Thanks, ST
  9. I don't see multiple zones for Vancouver, WA area. They show Vancouver as one big zone under Vancouver-Salmon Creek. Am I missing something? Thanks, -ST
  10. First time hot Wire purchaser. Took a gamble & purchased a 3* hotel in Vancouver, WA via Hotwire on 5/6/05 for my parents. To my pleasant surprise, it turned out to be Residence Inn - by Marriott near Vancouver Mall (my parent's favorite hotel there). HW Shown as: 3* Hotel $45 (plus $10.95 tax = $55.95) This Hotel features the following amenities: Complimentary Breakfast At the minimum, guests receive a free continental breakfast. Pool(s) Property features at least one pool area. (Note: This amenity offering may be seasonal. Please check hours/availability directly with the property.) Fitness Center Exercise equipment is available for guest use. An additional fee may apply. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment/services. Laundry Facilities (self-service) Guests have access to a coin-operated washer/dryer. The weird thing is that this hotel has a kitchenette, but HW does not note this dead-giveaway feature in their amenities. They show another 2* hotel at a higher price with a kichenette in the amenities. I tried to purchase the Residence Inn again for this weekend, but the price has gone up to $77. It is fluctuating between $79 - 77. Is there a way to purchase this hotel for a low price again? Preferably in the $50's? Otherwise, I may resort to Priceline for Red Lion at the Quay. I'm pretty sure that the Residence Inn is the only hotel with a kitchenette in Vancouver...... Also, any tips for getting into Heathman Lodge for cheap? Thanks in advance for any tips, I will purchase via the affiliate link on this site now on. -ST
  11. I purchased a 3* hotel for my parents at a very good rate of $53 (Residence Inn by Marriott - Vancouver, WA - this is where they usually stay for $63 - $99/nite via Expedia). I checked again for the next weekend, and the price went up to $79! I check again 1 minute later and the price is now $77. Is this a common HW practice? Do they not want our business back? Also, it was very tricky that they had Residence Inn as 3* which has a kitchenette, but they don't mention the kitchenette under amenities. They had another hotel at 2* which mentioned a kitchenette, at a higher price. I'm pretty sure the Residence Inn is the only hotel in Vancouver with a kitchen, so this is very bizarre. I will check Hotwire daily to see if they decrease the rates. I tried deleting my cookies, but that did not help bring the price down. sigh. -ST
