  1. Interesting experience getting this hotel. Used the forum to determine preferred star levels, 3.5* and 4*. Bid up to $85/night for a 4* knowing the Renaissance was the only likely hotel with PL availability for all nights. Rejected on all 3 bids. Decided to go for 3.5* but was skeptical because the Hilton website showed availability at $179/night but it wasn't listed on PL's list of 3.5* and the Marriott was available at 3.5* but only for some nights. So it didn't seem likely that I could get a 3.5* hotel by bidding but the PL bid window showed the 3.5* was the best deal. So decided to go for it. First bid $58, rejected with $72 counteroffer. Rebid $63 also rejected. Final bid $69 accepted. Hilton Deerfield Beach/Boca Raton 100 Fairway Drive Deerfield Beach, Florida 33441 It's a nice property; been there before but can't figure out why it never showed up as a possibility even when checking nightly PL available hotel for each consecutive night. I saw the multiple wins for this property but assumed it was sold out since it wasn't on PL's listing of available hotels. All is all, a very good result for us.
  2. Moderator: Could not locate edit button to change title; please change post title to correct name: Hyatt Regency Suites
  3. Started bidding at $31 and increased by $1 -$2 with free rebids. Got this property on 5th rebid for $36. I used the PRICELINE link. This isn't bad for this property .....and then I remembered I intended to exclude this zone on the rebids. The hotel really isn't close to the Galleria but is really Marietta. They started charging for parking about a year ago. On our last stay, we returned late Sat. night and the valets told us (already registered guests) there was no parking and we should park across the (very busy) street at the shopping center. They were having several prom-type events- we were not happy at all. I hope we don't encounter that again- other than the parking limitations and fees it's been pretty decent.
  4. Started at $45 and rebid in $3-$5 increments. Hotel was truly 4* and in a great location on Peachtree Road near Lenox Square. Parking is $14/night.
  5. Sorry, I had the correct dates originally as 7/26- 7/28 in the topic line but it didn't show up when it posted. I then edited it incorrectly.
  6. Started with $50 bid, rejected and rebid $55, $60, $63 and accepted at $66. PL countered with $70 on the $55 bid but I knew I had several rebids so I didn't accept it and kept going.
  7. Got two nights on first try for $50/night (website rate was $149/nite 7/26-7/28). The hotel is under renovation (the wing with the fitness center is being worked on now) but they put me in the main bldg. Parking is ridiculously high for the suburban location - at $14 per night but there are other airport lots as low as $9 per day. Thanks to earlier posters and BB for providing info guiding the recent bids- it definitely helped.
  8. Tried to get the Venetian beginning with $130 and did free rebids in $5 and $10 increments up to $195. Counteroffer of $231 made after first bid which I rejected thinking I'd not have to go over $180. Since this is not a holiday weekend I didn't expect rejections up to $195 -- the Venetian and other websites are posting rates between $240 - $299.
  9. Yes it is in Marietta and the hotel was very nice; actually better than my last stay there. Interesting note: they now charge $5/day parking which is rare in the suburbs. Also, I must have missed this news item, but there was a huge banner "Shame on you Hyatt" with two picketers in front of the hotel today. I saw an identical sign in front of another Hyatt later in the day. I didn't see the signs over the weekend. Anyone know what's going on?
  10. Last minute trip for one night, 12/16/06 and didn't have much time for research so followed earlier threads and bid once $42 and got this property. Have stayed here before and it's a decent place. Used SavingsBarn link - Happy Holidays!
  11. Was surprised I had to go this high but the opening bid for $55 was rejected and I need a place tonight so with only one rebid I had to increase it and got it on the 2nd bid.
  12. Started out with $49, countered with increase bid offer of $14, added another zone at $55 and accepted. Thanks to all for guidance on this area.
  13. Needed one night at SFO, bids rejected for $40, $45, $50 amd $55. Accepted at $60 which is higher than I would have expectd but it will be convenient. Based on the PL maps I thought it was going to be the SFO Hyatt. Listed amenities are odd: Remote control TV w/ premium channels Telephone w/ voicemail Radio Alarm Clock Iron and ironing board Hairdryer Business services 24 hour front desk Restaurant Room service Bellman Concierge Fitness center access. I called and they confirmed there is a shuttle on request but no icon listed.
  14. Good question; The account info page shows no icons other than hotel, and the St. Regis logo has been replaced by Sheraton; (not even Westin!).
  15. We can confirm that the Diplomat is indeed on the Hotwire list. Paid $135/ night for 2 nights at the 60 room Luxury Collection hotel (at the golf course and spa) not the huge main hotel on the beach. It was superb and appropriately listed with all the amenities. Service was generally 5* and the rooms very luxurious. Valet Parking was $20 extra/day and not really an option if you have a car. The Hotwire receipt had the St. Regis logo but they do not consider themselves as such; rather referring to it as the "spa" property or "Luxury Collection". It is a bit confusing at first, and we did not use the main hotel but it was a great weekend splurge. Website rate was around $400/night.
  16. Spent 3 nights here, thought it might be better than the 3* Crowne Plaza but they seem the same. The fitness room at the Sheraton has decent equipment; didn't try the CP though.
  17. Sudden death in family and had to go to LA for funeral. Tried HW and PL in several neighborhoods but couldn't get it under $70 until day before. Got upgraded to club level and it was very nice but the awful traffic in every direction made me wonder if it was worth it to stay at LAX. Not much in the valley to make the bids reasonable. Got this room for 4 nites, and had to extend for 3 more so will post that separately.
  18. I think I started at $55 and immediately jumped to $77 due to limited number of bids for the area. Unfortunately, we had a sudden death in the family on xmas eve and had to cancel the trip so I cannot report on the property.
  19. Wanted to add this to the data base; not a stellar bid but respectable! Just got this on the 3rd series of bids for a 4* hotel x 4 nights beginning 12/29. Almost everything 3* and above at all sites were >$200 and there was limited feedback for Boca on either PL or Hotwire. Starting bid 2 weeks ago at $55 (based on a previous bid posting) and got up to $75 and all rejected. Tried today with first bid at $55 and offer was accepted at $77. TripAdvisor shows this property around $220.
  20. Just got back and the hotel was actually better than expected. Location is exellent; easily drove into DC and Md. suburbs and it actually sits above the metro stop, but we didn't use it this trip. No negative-PL attitude at front desk, very decent room, and the only disappointment, which was mentioned elsewhere- was the bed was rather lumpy and surprisingly second-rate. But we slept fine.
  21. Took a guess since there was not a lot to guide us on either Hotwire or Priceline Forums. Got it on first bid; with taxes and fees came out to $69 which beats the best online price of $119. Only concern is some negative comments on TripAdvisor.com (which lists it as a 4*). But it is in our desired location and only one night so it'll probably be ok.
  22. Got this on the first bid of $55; went thru SavingsBarn link. Website price was $109.
  23. Update: in retrospect I think it was marked Best Value at the time. Interesting follow-up; I was contacted by Hotwire mgmt. after completed a survey and they were very concerned at my description of the hotel. They extended a partial credit and were to initiate a follow-up investigation. I was impressed and advised them this allayed my fears of using them again.
  24. Nov 16 for one night. It was a a grand old style hotel, and I was most pleased. Nice amenities, including robes, and the room faced the Fairmount with bay views. It turned out to be a terrific deal, and the only drawback is the climb up the hill from Union Square-- but if you have good walking shoes and take your time it is worth it. Due to meeting changes after my arrival I ended up staying two more nights at the Grand Hyatt at Union Square. It's location was more central but it was not as plush. Paid around the same thing again thru Priceline. All in all, both hotels were winners- just different. I give the nod to the Renaissance for ambience but the Hyatt for location. No more aiport hotels around SFO if I can help it!
  25. Currently listed as a best value Bethesda-Silver Spring for $59 with 6 amenities:restaurant, fitness cener, business center, pool, golf nearby and laundry. The only previous postings were the 4* Hyatt and 3* Holiday Inn Chevy Chase, and if I were to guess it would be the latter. Still the difference of 3 more amenities than the Chevy Chase previous post is unusual. The packages page shows the HI Gaitherburg at 2.5 stars and the amenities match the hotel page so it doesn't seem like it it that one either. Any guesses on what this might be?
