  1. Our $95 bid for two rooms (each) @ a 4-star Downtown/Coastal San Diego hotel could not have worked out better as the Hyatt Islandia (on Mission Bay) was fantastic!! Almost perfect location, nice layout of hotel, clean, nice restaurants, and with good amenities. For those of you who successfully bid and are allocated this hotel ... rejoice!!
  2. My perservance finally paid off... last night I went Downtown & Coastal, 4-star for $95/room for two rooms ... and was accepted @ the Hyatt Regency Islandia. I haven't done too much research of the hotel yet, but a review on SignOnSanDiego.com was very favorable. Thanks to all of you for your assistance! Safe traveling to all! :)
  3. I am currently 0-for-3 in my bidding for a 4-star hotel in Downtown San Diego. My last bid was rejected @ $75. I'll probably keep trying thru $90. To cover ourselves, we have already reserved a suite for 5 people @ $160/night in the "hotel circle" area (my wife made the reservations). I think this is with one of the Marriott -family of suite hotels. Anyway, I am eager/anxious to see if I am accepted downtown for less than $100.
  4. Should I be concerned at all that I am bidding for two rooms @ the same time? Thanks again for all of your help!
  5. Thanks to everyone for your helpful hints/tips. I doubt we'll have any problems finalizing our plans for our trip. We're flying direct from Washington/Dulles to Long Beach (we love JetBlue & their prices) and renting a car from there. I'm leaning towards bidding on a downtown stay in a 4* hotel. I'll inform this forum of my results.
  6. Thanks for moving my post to a more appropriate location. Our purpose for our trip is threefold: see a city we've never visited take our 9-year old to the zoo, Sea World, etc. see the football game We hear that downtown has more "atmosphere" and that the coastal area is beautiful. This is what has lead us to choosing between two areas. Thanks.
  7. I will be bidding on two rooms (5 people in our party) for a 4-night stay in San Diego from Thursday, November 6th - Monday, November 10th. I am undecided about bidding for either a Downtown/Harbor hotel or a Coastal hotel, although I understand that there are more 3 and 4-star hotels downtown. I am considering a bid range from $65-$90 for each room (entered on the same bid). These dates wil span an NFL football weekend at a time of year that I believe will be off-season. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.
