  2. Probably the best tip I have heard for those concerned about having the nerve to try an outright bribe only works in Vegas. As soon as you walk into the property go get a green ($20) chip. As you are chatting up the desk (hopefully it isn't a busy time) simply fiddle with the chip on the counter. They will notice it and understand the situation. If they come up with an acceptable upgrade you can thank them and slide the chip their direction, walking away without it. Otherwise you simply take it with you when you go, never having conspicuously offered it. Some have suggested having a $20 and a $5 chip, again fiddling with them on the counter as you chat up the desk. If you don't get the upgrade but they appear to have made a sincere effort you might thank them for trying with the red chip. No need to hide anything. Cameras abound in Vegas and personnel are well aware that they are being watched. If they accept your tip it is because they are allowed to do so. No one will be risking their job for $20. Good luck and have fun!
  3. Just booked Vegas through EasyClickTravel (your links, of course) got Aladdin for $72! Now since reading this I'm just hoping I have a room when I get there. Intend to try to upgrade to a strip suite at check in. I'll let you know :) Your REVERSE EasyClickTravel lookup identified it as possibly Aladdin, I was sweating bullets when I pressed the buy it button. Thanks!!!
  4. Sorry for the hand-holding... Would this have to to be an L.A. coupon book, or can I buy the San Diego book for the rebate on the L.A. stay? This sounds like it may well be a plan.
  5. Loews would be great, though I don't know anything about the $10 off code, or the $30 rebate? I was (am) prepared to go somewhat higher if need be for a 4 star, I just ran out of rebid zones :) Though we will only be in LA for a couple of days (en route Vegas to San Diego), this is the family vacation, so I would like it to be pretty nice... This is as close as I get to a 4* @ $145 for those nights, Is it the one you are refering to?? Beverly Hills - Westwood - Century City (West Los Angeles) - See map Selected amenities include: Boutique Hotel, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access Best Value! Upscale $151 per room per night THANKS for your help & this great site!
  6. Must be tough days... Linked through SB Wanted 4* @ Beverley Hills. Probably started too low, but you never know... $65.00 in B.H., rejected $70.00 added Bel Air, rejected $75.00 added Commerce, rejected $80.00 added Culver City, rejected $85.00 added Hollywood, rejected $90.00 added Redondo, rejected $95.00 added Santa Monica, rejected I could live with 3 or 4* in B.H. or Hollywood, but dont want to risk getting put in the Walk of Fame Holiday Inn (Hollywood 3*). Any thoughts as to how to best proceed?
