  1. Okay. So $70 for BW Plus Edison. So you were correct. Booked two rooms. Regards, H4B
  2. thanks for the intel. Struggling with no "smoke-free" rooms. Although it is NC. Probably will pull the trigger in a few hours.

(thought they would get a 3* but I don't stay there much)
  4. Debrief - It was much better than low quality hotels outside of Columbia. One rec. is to NOT stay on the 2nd flr. Pool and entry from parking garage is through part of second floor hallway. Fair amount of noisy foot traffic.
  5. PL bid $51. not accepted but returned message to increase to $73. All in it is $90. This is a business trip and had to stay at a couple armpit hotels the last two visits. Hopefully downtown Marriott will show better.
  6. Update. Thru SPG i was able to get a rate of $99 /nt for 8/10 & 11 at the Westin Beach Resort Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for the note about the Support Page links to hotel reservation sites - was not aware of that.
  7. Length of stay is flexible. Check in on 8/10. 1, 2 or 3 night stay. update - I just checked the Westin website and they are offering $104/nt for the Fort Lauderdale Beach location. That is a nice hotel IMO. Significantly better than the W. Thanks.
  8. Big music festival that w/e. A few sites (Renaissance midtown - Marriott.com) aren't even accepting reservations online for this date. Looking for a 3* or higher (prefer 3.5 or 4) Priceline.Express deals in midtown for that w/e are: 5* $302/nt (10% svgs) - probably the Leows Hotel 4* $232 /nt - don't know which hotel (doesn't matter at the price listed amenities are pets, restaurant, fitness, fee internet, business center) Haven't checked Hot.wire yet. For anybody else looking to stay close to Music Midtown, let's work together on this... thanks.
  9. @whoeps - Some suggestions. Hope this helps. You are in a great area. You haven't stated how long you are staying, when, or if you are traveling with family, etc. About parking fees. You probably don't need to rent a car for your entire visit. The midtown Marta station is 2-1/2 blocks away and an EASY walk (you can take a train direct from/to the airport). Somewhere near Spring and 5th St. (Georgia Tech Bookstore), there is a zip car rental. They do hourly car rentals. If you only need transportation to restaurants & bars, UBER is a driving service that is ubiquitous in the ATL. The have a phone app that shows you where drivers are and how much a ride costs (cheaper than taxis and better). If your plans for Atlanta are limited to midtown / downtown / Buckhead, you absolutely don't need a car unless you are lugging around a bunch of equipment. Let us know how you do and please provide the dates of your "win". H4B
  10. Thanks for sharing, Tino. We stayed at Victor a few years back. Art Deco hotel in a nice location. Enjoy your stay.
  11. Update. Booked 2 nts. 8/8 & 9 in Palm Beach at Chesterfield. Highest rated Palm Beach Hotel on Tripadvisor. Did not use Priceline or Hotwire. $176+ sales tax per night. Looking for a place to stay on Fort Lauderdale Beach or Miami Beach for 8/10, 11 & 12. MIght visit both depending on deals available. Would like info on the 4.5* on FLL Beach.
  12. Thank you for the analysis. Did not book a room. I'm local. Commuted.
  13. 4.5* Deluxe Plus Amenities Pool, Restaurant, Fitness Ctr, Business Ctr 8+ rating Who Dat? Thanks.
  14. Tried to get a cheap crashpad in Midtown tonight (Fri) to save commuting for a conference. Bid $45 for 3* for one night. Got this screen: <link removed> Hmm, I guess this site doesn't allow links to images. PRICELINE returned a result encouraging me to increase my offer $12 to $57 (plus fees would be around $75). Didn't bite but maybe it could help someone else.
  15. @snowolf - don't second guess yourself. You got a great deal at a one of a kind destination. Have fun stumbling around Duval St.!
  16. Sorry, I don't recall the amenities that were shown on PL. I tried to find it again under the current express deals but no go. Although I wasn't able to get a bargain rate, the Marriott Courtyard Midtown East provided excellent accommodations for our needs. We stayed on the 27th floor which appeared to be newly renovated and furnished. Nice bathroom - new tile & grout (no stains / mold), new fixtures (toilet, sink, vanity), great bed & linens. The service was great (front desk, housekeeping, concierge, bellmen). Free in room wi-fi. A rather poorly equipment fitness room. Views are nothing to write home about either. The absolute virtue of this hotel is location - corner of 3rd Ave & East 52nd St. Subway within a block. As you mentioned, Ess a bagel is right there, Smith and Wollensky's three blocks away, easy walk to tons of venues. We spent most of our trip in Chelsea, East & West Village, Tribeca and south but it was easy to get back and forth via subway or cab. I am not a Marriott fan but the Courtyard MTE hit it out of the park for our party of 4 adults (2 rooms).
  17. Thanks for the advice. After a 2BR / 2BA condo was rented out from under me, I went with your PRICELINE EXPRESS recommendation (note that the discount code is READYSET5, not getready5). Opted for the 3.5* MTE location for posted $233/nt. This is the Marriott Courtyard Midtown East (3rd Ave around 58th St?). At 2 rooms per night the posted rate is $1864. Taxes and fees total 20.5%. The coupon code saved me $93.20 (THANK YOU KINDLY!). Net price all-in = $269.17 /nt per room. It's done and so am I . Appreciate the info and hopes this helps some folks. FWIW - i opted to take the express deal b/c the PL user rating was 8.0 instead of trying to bid lower for 3.5* of unknown quality. Probably could've save a few bucks but we'll have to be satisfied with Courtyard (I am not a marriott enthusiast).
  18. More failed bids: 4* $189 - theater district $193 + Chelsea $195 + MTW $199 + ESB $199 + MTE - still waiting on this one. received notice that "they are still working on my request". Servers must be slow or something. ----> Update - it failed.
  19. Thank you for the CQ suggestion. I suppose that is the Wall Street location? For my 6/1 (Sat.) to 6/5 (Wed checkout) trip, it appears that several well rated hotels are booked on the last night (TUE 6/4). Perhaps I can convince my crew to move after three nights to the Club Quarters Wall street. bit of a hassle but that's NYC. BTW - any guesses on the 3.5* in SoHo / Tribeca on HW? Gracias.
  20. Thanks for the advice. I understand the double occupancy on Pl and saw the 4 persons option on hotwire. I was bidding on two rooms. I would consider 2 rooms at $175 ea. ($350 total) a good deal. The express deal in SoHo/Tribeca would be a fall back but with fees, etc. I image it is $500/nt all in for both rooms. (I assume express deals add the same fees, taxes, etc. as the winning bids on PL). 4* would be preferable and 3.5* is probably the minimum star level. ------------- UPdate------------- more failed bids: $169 for 4* in SoHo / Tribeca. Rebid $169 to include Chelsea. Upped bid to $174 and added Midtown East. Still no dice. Will keep at it. Any advice is appreciated.
  21. That is a great score for GH in Buckhead (former Nikko Hotel). Niiiiice!
  22. Done. The two Hawaii posts were for the same visit. The "Oahu" post doesn't need follow up IMO. Thanks.
  23. Ended up walking up to Hampton Inn on Washington Rd. The rate (I think it was $89/nt) was much cheaper than anything online or rack rates. This was simply a case of luck. We inquired at another location (can'tt remember the name but it is on a hill overlooking I-20 on Washington Rd., north side of the interstate) - they wanted $159/nt. So we went on down the road to Hampton. Booked 3 rooms at this rate.
  24. Ended up renting vacation rental - flipkey or vrbo. Stayed at the Ilikai Marina. 7 nts at roughly $175/nt plus $20/day parking. Worked out great. Better than a hotel.
  25. Taking the bride and two daughters (18, 22 y.o.) to Manhattan. We will take a walking tour on Sat or Sun (6/1, 2), probably hit one Broadway show and one museum. Pretty flexible on location as long as its reasonably secure and can walk to shops and eateries. Failed bids for 3* @ 139 (midtown west) and 4* @ $149 in theater district. Express deals has a 3.5* for $216/nt in SoHo Tribeca. 8.0 user rating Free Internet Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center (Yes, I used the links here to get to PL) Know which hotel this is? Would appreciate suggestions on other areas to bid on Priceline that would be good for this trip.
