The place was ok and there was free internet as advertised.
The fitness center is pretty good too. Ate at Charlie's Pub for breakfast and it was ok too.
Just stayed at Shoreham on a winning priceline bid two weeks ago. Location is great if you like Central Park.
I found out that they are quite strict with the check in time. It's only after 15:00.
Other hotels I stayed at had no problems giving me a room around 12:00-13:00!
Anybody have experience bidding on priceline and getting double beds in Manhattan rooms?..
It's a hit and miss. I booked a hotel via HOTWIRE specifying 3 ppl. I got a King size bed at Hyatt but they managed to change it to 2 double beds.
I got Waldorf via PRICELINE and they gave 2 double beds. Had two separate bids and both of them, I got double beds.
So, i think it depends on the hotel and availabilities.
It's accepted but did you win the bid? If so, which hotel did you get for 75$ and which zone is it in?
You won't win the bid with prices that low.
Hi, I'm not sure how you can get these 4 or 5 * hotels at these low prices.
Just to give you an idea, i bid for 4* for october 1st to october 3rd up to $290 with no luck.
Thanks for the info. I did notice that New Yorker was on the bed bug registry back in 2011 but not in 2012 based on reviews. Hence I was a bit reluctant to consider New Yorker.
Thanks, will keep looking around.
This is for 2 ppl. Is New Yorker a "nice" hotel?
Just won The Shoreham Hotel for $257 using PRICELINE, staying 1 night on Sept 27.
I checked the reviews and there are some hits and misses. Hopefully, we don't have any problem since it's a 4*.

I've tried with no luck, Last attempted price was $295.
It's interesting that i was able to get the next 3 days for $180. So, is it difficult to get 1 day vs 3days (sept27-28)?
Yes, i've tried $260 for both Midtown East and Midtown West. My max would be at $280 or so.
Thanks for the links you provided.
Hi,
I've tried bidding for a 4* in Midtown (East/Central)
The dates I need are:
- Sept 27 to Sept 28 (1night)
- October 1 to October 3 (2 nights)
I've already secured sept 28 to October 1 per previous post on forum.
I kept increasing my bids and have been unsuccessful with $260.
How much should I expect to pay?
Can I ask if priceline prices do go down? i.e. if I try tomorrow, should I start with a higher price or could a lower price work too? Or does it mean that all the priceline places are already booked?
Thanks!
awesome, can you let us know how waldorf is? I'm heading there a few days after you.
Thanks for the heads up, i was able to secure Waldorf again for Sept28-Oct1 (3 nights) for $180 per night.
Now, I have to look for the other nights. if you find a deal on these nights, let me know.
I'm playing around with the exact same dates 9-27 to 10-03.
Here's what the Waldorf Astoria website shows for nightly availability:
Sep 20 Thu — Sep 21 Fri From $599 per room
Sep 21 Fri — Sep 22 Sat From $351 * per room
Sep 22 Sat — Sep 23 Sun From $399 per room
Sep 23 Sun — Sep 24 Mon From $319 * per room
Sep 24 Mon — Sep 25 Tue -- not available ---
Sep 25 Tue — Sep 26 Wed -- not available ---
Sep 26 Wed — Sep 27 Thu -- not available ---
Sep 27 Thu — Sep 28 Fri From $619 per room
Sep 28 Fri — Sep 29 Sat From $399 per room
Sep 29 Sat — Sep 30 Sun From $419 per room
Sep 30 Sun — Oct 01 Mon From $449 per room
Oct 01 Mon — Oct 02 Tue From $519 per room
Oct 02 Tue — Oct 03 Wed From $549 per room
Oct 03 Wed — Oct 04 Thu From $659 per room
Oct 04 Thu — Oct 05 Fri From $659 per room
Anyway, I bid up to $180 for 5 nights 9-28 to 10-03 without luck (I removed the evening of 9/27 because the website shows a much higher price and I guess that's not part of the 'sale'. I started shortening the trip and I was able to buy 9-28 to 10-01 (3 nights) for $180 / night.
Very cool! Thanks for the heads-up.
Thanks, is it more difficult to get a 6-night stay sept27-oct3? If I get anything under $200 in Midtown East NYC, I would take it.
Or should I break it down into 2 3 night stays?
Confirmed this was on HOTWIRE.
Got this deal just a few minutes ago for $180 - 4* New York Midtown East - Waldorf Astoria - sept 28-30
I'm trying to find another one for Sept 27 to October 2 but bid up to $200 to no avail.
Got Grand Hyatt New York at $294 for 28th-30th Sept for 3 adults.
Amenities were:
Fitness Center
Restaurant(s)
Business Center
