Why are the rates so high for Aug 3?

There are two different zones now: Old San Juan; and San Juan-Condado

Strangely enough, this deal was only available with the Hot.wire app but was not available on the regular Hot.wire web site. Used the betterbidding link on my android. Giveaway were casino and pets allowed as amenities as well as 90% positive reviews to distinguish it from the Gran Melia. I'm very pleased.

Targetting the Condado Vanderbilt, I started out with 128.00/night working my way up in 1 or 2 dollar increments with added area. Express deal was 167.00. Note: The area is simply San Juan - Condado (Old San Juan is a separate bidding area.) Anybody know why the taxes/fees are lower with bame your own price compared to express deal?

Looking at the PL maps, it seems to me that the zones have changed: 1. The old Las Ramblas South seems now to be two zones: La Rambla - El Raval - El Poblesec and Old Town - El Born - Gotic 2. Las Ramblas North does not include the Le Merdidien anymore; rather, Le Meridien now seem sto be part of the Old Town zone. Or am I mistaken?

I tried a different January date, for which the hotel didn't show up. Very nice property and great deal. Regular rate was 320.00 for the room we chose. Had tried bidding for 200.00 without success.

Had tried unsuccessfully bidding for 95.00 for 4*, trying to go for the Westin, then added 3.5* and went down to 75.00, since the PRICELINE EXPRESS 3.5* was 82.00 and obviously the Crowne Plaze (hint: Check the pet policy). Amenities: Guest Rating 8+, Guest favorite, Free internet, pool, restaurant, pets aloowed, fitness center, business center. The pet policy description matched that of the Crowne Plaza.

Very strange. This showed up as UPPER NAPA VALLEY area --- which is not shown anymore in PRICELINE EXPRESS. Amenities included: free Internet, free parking, breakfast, pets, bed choice (probably others, which I can't remember).

Offered 75.00 since PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal that looked like a match was 81.00. Regular rate is 141.00 I used the PRICELINE link.

So, every time I check a star rating, the ones above are automatically checked, too? Of course, there's only one 5* hotel in Palo Alto (the Four Seasons); the Epiphany seems to be rated 4*, too on PL.

Actually, wanted to comment on some of the bidding and the question that was brought up previously re. 41/2* and 5* hotels that are listed in Palo Alto. I was actually aiming for the Westin, so my strategy was to start with 4* and then add 41/2 and 5 for the free re-bids. However, after the first time my bid was rejected, the 4 1/2 and 5* were already checked for the rebid with the request to add another area or star level. That's when I added Mountain view. What gives? What's up with theses dummy hotels (4 1/2 and 5*)?

Started out with 80.00, then received counter offer at 113.00. Added Mountain View and upped to 100.00.
