  1. Wow! That was fast! Thanks thereuare. I have emailed them and requested a discount. I will let you know what their response is. The wierd thing is that when I look at Mytrips it is still listed as a 3*win, but when I click on the transactions it says I have won a 2*.
  2. I won a hotel in Fort Lauderdale for December 15/07 at the 3* level. Priceline now has it as a 2*. I can't find anything on their website covering this. Has this happened to anyone else? I am going to email them, but was just wondering what everyone else's experience has been.
  3. I've been bidding on this for a few days starting at $30 and slowly working my way up with free re-bids. I got a counter-offer for +$12 at the $40 mark. Website price in $151. Should be OK for an overnight stay as we are getting in late. Used the SavingsBarn link.
  4. The Marriott is a very nice hotel, I think you will like it. I believe you are right that valet parking is $23 Self-parking is about $16, but the parkade is a block or so away so it is rather inconvenient. There is a public parking lot across the street that is cheaper, if you can get a spot. It is pretty busy.
  5. Country Inn & Suites Calgary Calgary Airport Area 2481 39th Avenue Ne Calgary, Alberta T2E 8V8 403-250-1800 I have been bidding for a couple of weeks for an airport hotel for my parents and finally got accepted at $80. Best price on hotel website is $149 Can., so I still saved them a few dollars, and it includes a continental breakfast. Used the Savings Barn link.
  6. Too bad you can't go mid-week. The Venetian has some promo rates of $139.00 during the summer for Sun - Thurs stays.
  7. Started bidding at $45. This was a last minute trip, so I was happy to get this hotel. We have stayed there before and we really like it. Used savingsbarn.com to enter the Priceline site.
  8. This was an ooopsie. I sent out a "feeler" and landed an unexpected win. First bid, so probably could have got it for less. Oh well. Mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, but it is undergoing renovations, so hopefully they will be done by December. I believe this is a new hotel for the board. Sorry, but since this was just meant to be a "tester" (I really didn't think I would get a 3* for that low) I did not use the Savings Barn link. I have two more hotels to get for this trip, so I will use it for sure. Here are the details: Las Palmas Hotel And Suites 3003 North University Drive Sunrise, Florida 33322 954-748-7000 The hotel website says it is a Holiday Inn.
  9. Started bidding at $40. I am very happy with this price over a weekend. We will have a car, so being a little off the strip doesn't bother us, as a matter of fact we prefer it. Started my bid through the link at www.Savingsbarn.com. Thanks!
  10. Have you considered staying off the strip? The Orleans gets good reviews, and you can get it for an average of $70 for those dates (plus $5 resort fee :) ) by going to southwest.com, and then getting a price match directly from the Orleans (which would be cancellable).
  11. If you go to South West.com via this link you can book the Orleans for $40 per night for those dates, which is a real bargain over a weekend. It is supposed to be a very nice hotel, and gets great reviews, although I have never stayed there. They have a shuttle to their sister hotel, the Barbary Coast, which is next door to the Flamingo. So, if you don't mind being off-strip, I think this might be the way to go. With the money you are saving you can buy them a really nice wedding present! :)
  12. This was actually an Oooopsy! I bid $100, got a counter-offer for $133, hit the wrong button and accidentally accepted the offer! :) I am an experienced Price Liner and have never done that before. Oh well, lesson learned to slow down and read the screens. Probably could have gotten it for a few dollars less. The rate for that night is $179, so it was still an OK deal. This is our anniversary, so it will be nice to stay at the Venetian. I have always wanted to. I started the bid using the Price Line link on SavingsBarn.com.
  13. Started bidding at $92, bidding in $5 increments. They kept offering me $157 everytime I would start a new bid. When I got up to $135 I changed to $2 increments. The non-refundable advance purchase rate was $167, so not a huge savings, but I am happy. We love this hotel! Started my bid through the PRICELINE link at SavingsBarn. Thanks!
  14. We needed an airport hotel for both ends of our upcoming trip to Hawaii. I had been bidding on this for a while at a lower rate, and kept getting counter offers of +$22. Finally got accepted at $50. Anyway, I am happy with this amount. Even with the fees it is a substantial saving.
  15. The Honolulu Marathon is also that weekend (Dec. 10), and they expect 30,000 people. It is going to be super busy over there! We are going too. :)
  16. I deal with GST quite a bit in my work as a bookkeeper here in Canada, and if the hotels don't charge Priceline GST, that would be a first. The only ones exempt from paying GST are government agencies. I would bet money that Priceline is charged GST, but claims it back the same way that any American purchasing goods or services in Canada can. The only way the we Canadians are not paying GST on Priceline rooms is because the government has not yet figured out this loophole.
  17. I don't think there will be any extra charges for tax at the hotel; everything should be included in the amount that PL pays the hotel. Americans don't pay GST (they can claim it back), so they get around it that way. PST should be included. I have never been charged extra for tax for a Canadian PL stay.
  18. That hotel is downtown, not South. It is a fairly nice hotel, though. I have stayed there before. Parking is around $8.00, if I remember correctly. I think if you had added the DT zone to your $40 bid, you may have been accepted.
