  1. Yes it was, and yes I am. :) I had bid up to $60 on Priceline a couple of days ago (Hotwire price was $69), and up to $56 today (Hotwire $64). I decided I would take the Hotwire deal as I was prety certain it was the Sheraton, and the risk of getting a less desirable hotel wasn't worth saving a few dollars. I think there are certain times, and certain zones where HOTWIRE is a better option than PRICELINE. Especially if there is a hotel you are trying to avoid, if you know what I mean. :) Thanks for all you do for this board, and the excellent moderating you do. I used to support TOBB, but this one is far superior, IMHO. Good Job!
  2. Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services Used the HOTWIRE link fron this board.
  3. Hyatt Place Scottsdale/Old Town 7300 East Third Avenue Scottsdale, Arizona 85251 I think this is a new hotel to be reported. Used the PRICELINE link from this board. Yes, I like to plan ahead, why do you ask? :)
  4. Thereuare, the title needs to be edited to 4*. Scared me for a minute there, thinking that that Luxor had been upgraded to a 5*! :)
  5. Extended Stay Deluxe Toronto 3600 Steeles Ave West Vaughan, Ontario L4L 8P5 Canada Amenities: Suite Laundry Internet Kitchenette I think this is a new hotel for the board. DS is moving to Toronto, so this is perfect for him for a few days before he gets a place. It is a little far from downtown, but that's OK.
  6. Very happy with this win for a pre-cruise stay. Website rate is $300.00 The pictures on Trip Advisor look really nice, and it is right on the beach. DH is going to be very happy with the golf at it's sister property. Used the PRICELINE link from this board to start my bid.
  7. From the Priceline Hotel list on this board: Las Vegas (Northwest) Resort J.W. Marriott REVIEW 2.5* Courtyard by Marriott Summerlin 2* La Quinta Summerlin Tech Also, if you scroll down to the posts from March 16 you will see that I recently posted a win for the JW Marriott in Summerlin. :o
  8. I have been bidding on this for a while. I wanted May 30 - June 3, but was getting stonewalled. Checked the AAA rates for each day and noticed that they went up on the 2nd. So I decided to try the 30th - 2nd, which worked. Got a counteroffer of $157 on my first bid of $130. Continued bidding in $1 -$2 increments until I got accepted at $141. The "Add A Night" feature wanted $208 for the night of the 2nd. I will probably try bidding again in a few days for that night. Anyway, I am happy. We love this hotel. :) BTW, the board has gremlins today!
  9. Here is the link to a Marriott special for your dates that includes breakfast for two and a $20 drink credit each day for $234. If you take off the value of the credits that brings it down to approx. $184/night. JW Marriott Fiesta Promotion
  10. There is no golf course right at the JW Marriott. There are some very nice courses close by, but you would probably need to drive. DH golfed at TPC Canyons and Bear's Best last year. I will have to look into that Loews deal, it sounds nice.
  11. Just to clarify, the entire name of this place is the Las Vegas Cay Club - Desert Tides Resort. It is just down from the Rio and the Gold Coast. We have now returned from our trip and I would not stay there again. And it is not a resort, IMHO.
  12. Amenities: Condo Suite 1-Bedroom Suite Fully-equipped Kitchen Daily Housekeeping Air Conditioning In-Room Laundry Fitness Center Pool(s) Front Desk 24-hour Front Desk Laundry Facilities This is a busy weekend with Nascar in town, so we were glad to find something reasonable that would sleep three at the last minute. Used the HOTWIRE link from this site.
  13. We love the JW Marriott! It is a beautiful property. The bathrooms are truly luxurious. We have stayed there several times, and are hoping to stay there again in June. In my experience using Priceline I have never seen another Resort property come up in the NW zone, but there are never any guarantees with Priceline. That is not going to happen. The resort properties on Priceline are at least 4* quality (moderators correct me if I am wrong here), so, they could put you in a 4 or 5* quality hotel, but def. not a 1 star. One thing you should be aware of is that the JW is a fair jaunt from the strip. They do have a shuttle, which I have used during the day, but not sure of the night schedule. They do have a casino, but it is rather low-key compared to the strip. If you are looking for action and nightlife, it may not be your best bet. ( :) ) If you are looking for a nice quiet, relaxing vacation it would be perfect. They have a spa, which I have never used, golfing is close by, and the SunCoast is within walking distance. Oh, and I should mention that the pool area is also very nice.
  14. When you click on "See hotel details" does the golf icon show up? Also, does it say it has more than 260 Trip Advisor reviews? The Crowne Plaza only has about 29 reviews on TA. I have been looking at Fort Lauderdale for November. HOTWIRE is playing with me today. The 4* Hollywood Beach has shot up to $186 for one night pre-cruise, but when I put in 2 nights it is $119. :)
  15. Started bidding at $55, got accepted at $65. We like this hotel, but they charge $25 for valet parking on weekends now, and there is no free parking nearby, so that is getting a bit old. Still not a bad deal, I guess, and we can take our dog. Used the SavingsBarn.com link.
  16. We love the JW Marriott too, hoping to get it for June. Enjoy your vacation!
  17. Started bidding yesterday at $45, working my way up in small increments. This is a really nice hotel; I was hoping I would get it. Calgay actually has only one free rebid zone at the 3* level, so I kind of took a chance and used zones that I have never seen a win reported in as free rebids. I would have been OK staying anywhere, so it was no big deal. Used the SavingsBarn PRICELINE link.
  18. Started at $50, and got this on the second bid at $55. Used the Savings Barn link.
  19. Bid $67 yesterday and got a counter offer for an additional $17. We have stayed here before and it is OK for an overnight stay before an early flight. Used the Savings Barn link.
  20. Started at $48, got a counteroffer for an extra $14, rebid $50, then got accepted at $52. This is a very nice hotel, and with the strength of the Canadian dollar right now, quite a bargain at $52. The lowest website price was $159.00, and my win equates to about $53 or $54 (once MC tacks on their fee). :) Used the Savings Barn link.
  21. Travelalot, I was part of that particular conversation also (under a different screen name.) As a matter of fact I openly crticized the moderator who took paperposter to task. I waited for the axe to fall, as it surely would have back in the day, but it didn't. It is very refreshing to be able to speak freely without worrying about being banned or reprimanded.
  22. Started bidding at $50, and got this on my second bid. I had been bidding on the Palm Beach Gardens zone up to $68, but gave up and decided to try West P.B. zone. We just needed a hotel between Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale for one night pre-cruise, so it should be OK. Website rate is $149.00. Used the Savings Barn link.
  23. This Condo features the following amenities: Resort 2-Bedroom Suite Fully-equipped Kitchen Free Parking In-Room Laundry Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Front Desk High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Used the HOTWIRE link from this site.
  24. Awwww.... Congrats Mr & Mrs thereuare, and also & big sister. Welcome to the world baby thereuare! :)
  25. They replied to my email saying I would have to call them on the phone, which I did. The CSR said they could not give me a discount, but they would cancel the reservation if I wanted. I did cancel and now I will have to decide which way to proceed; either bid for a 2* at a lower price or try again for a 3* (or higher).
