  1. I was very happy with my stay at the Hilton Chicago through Priceline, August 18-21, 2012. I knew before I arrived that the hotel was not full and that there were rooms with 2 double beds and 2 bathrooms aviallabe. I was traveling with my two sisters and this type of room was our goal. Upon check-in, I requested the 2 double/2 bath room with a lake view. I was told it would cost $25/ni for the upgrade. I politely responded that I had never been charged for that type of room in the past and the receptionist gave it to us at no cost. (I also mentioned that I was a Hilton Honors member, knowing full well that I would not be allowed to get points for a priceline stay, but I always think it helps to let the hotel know if you are part of their rewards program, I stay at Hiltons all the time for business travel, but this was a leisure trip and the group wanted to bid via Priceline). The room was perfect for 3 women. The second bathroom allowed us to quickly get ready each day. The room did not have a direct view of the lake, but it could be seen from the window. I am a nursing mother and was traveling without my child for 3 days. The hotel was more than happy to send up a regrigerator at no cost. The refrigerator was quite large, and allowed us to store sodas and beers that we picked up at the liquor store on the back side of the hotel. The hotel is within a block of both Starbucks and Caribou, for morning coffee runs. The hotel is across the street from the Park, where there was live music each night. The hotel is within 5 blocks of CVS -- you can get almost antying at CVS, including ponchos for the rainy Saturday morning. This hotel is just 3 blocks from the redline, which made travel to the River North and Mag Mile areas (and other further north areas) very easy. It was also a reasonable $12 cab ride to Old Town. I admit I was a little hesitant about having won the Hilton because it is so far south of the Mag Mile, but in the end, it worked out perfectly. This was an exceptional deal for $90/ni! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a very suitable homebase for leisure travel in Chicago! We did not dine at the hotel or use the pool. We were there to be in the city, not the hotel. This was excellent!
  2. For what it is worth, most airlines allow you to check childrens car seat for free (as well as strollers). I am assuming: (1) that you are flying to West Palm Beach; and (2) that you are not buying a seat for your infant such that you are not otherwise going to need the car seat in flight. If those premises don't apply, disregard. We almost always get a seat for our infant on the plane so we take the infant carrier onboard with us, but have always checked the base unit to our final desitnation, for free. If you are not using the carrier, you should be able to check both the carrier and base to your final desition. The airline should bag it for you and you can pick it up with your other checked luggage.
  3. Excuse my bad manners . . . I forgot to say "thank you" for the clarification about the Hilton Penn Station's status. Thank you very much for explaining the apparent contradiction. Thanks.
  4. I just need a one night stay for EWR layover. But I do NOT want the Hilton Penn Station, which I saw as a reported win for the EWR zone in other posts on this forum. I know now that these posts predate the rezoning, and that Hilton Penn Station is now part of Newark ZOne (as reflected on this forum's list). So long as it is not in the EWR Zone I feel safe in bidding and not getting it. I will update my post when I secure something (for 2/23). And yes, I always use the PRICELINE link on this forum to start my searches and bids. Thanks.
  5. Is the Hilton Penn Station now included in the EWR Airport Zone? The Priceline hotel list on this forum lists it in the Newark zone (Zone 3), but in reading past posts, it appears others have received this hotel when bidding the EWR airport zone (Zone 4). Can anyone confirm either way?
  6. I see the forum moderator has merged my two separate posts. I'm still curious to know if the moderators have any thoughts about what the 4-star property in this zone (LAX - Redondo/Manhattan Beach) might be.
  7. I've been bidding for about two weeks with no luck bidding $55/ni. max. Was hoping for Best Western Sunrise, so bid 2.5 star, knowing full well I might get upgraded to Crowne Plaza. Today I started at $45 and was rejected, offered free rebid at $56. I declined and added only rebid zone (USC) and increased price to $50. "Upgraded" award to Crowne Plaza. Here are details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $50.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.79 Total Charged to Card: $64.79 I called hotel and asked for two queens (or doubles) and they will do their best to accomodate. The guy from the front desk also told me that the surrounding neighborhood is safe and that free street parking is avialble if I don't mind to walk a couple blocks. I thought that was nice for him to let me know. I'll check it out, but am not opposed to paying the $23/daily parking if necessary. Used PRICELINE link on this forum.
  8. I've been trying to get a hotel in this area for an upcoming trip to LAX. I've been bidding for about 2 weeks. Anyways, today I noticed that there is a 4 star property in this area for name your own price. It wasn't there yesterday (highest rated was 3.5 star). Any thoughts about what hotel it might be? I don't see that it is identified on the hotel list for this zone on this forum.

  13. I am still in disbelief about this win. For the last month there has been nothing for less than $1100 total for these four days. Yesterday, I tried $60 and was rejected. Today I tried $52, plus $3 bonus money and finally got a car. Here are the details: Bonus Cash Per Day: $3.00 (per day) Your Offer Price Per Day: $52.00 (per day) Total Offer Price with Bonus: $55.00 (per day) Your Offer Price: $52.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 4 days Subtotal: $208.00 Taxes and Fees: $105.88 Total Charges: $313.88 Lowest Published Price: $899.00 Total Savings:*$585.12 (You saved 65%)
  14. I just posted a win for Denver Airport for 10/28, it ended up in Hotel reviews. Maybe the adminstrator can move it.
  15. This was max budget. I first tried to get 3.5* near airport, using all rebid zones up to $42, no luck. Then I tried 3* near airport, using all rebid zones up to $42, no luck. Finally tried 2.5* at $42 (there are no avialalbe rebid zones so I had to put in my max). Success. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $42.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.83 Total Charged to Card: $54.83 I used the PRICELINE link on this forum.
  16. Just booked this hotel. Had hoped to get something in Boulder for the $50 reported wins I saw for other dates, but had no luck. Finally secured the Quality Inn (I think it used to be a Comfort Inn and is listed as Comfort Inn on this forum's Priceline list of hotels in Boulder (Louisville). By the time I dropped to 2 stars, I was fairly certain this would be the result (I also saw this hotel on Hotwire for $49, so I did save a few bucks and got to play the Priceline game) Here are details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $42.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.51 Total Charged to Card: $54.51 Decent ameneties including free breakfast and internet. Given offer to extend stay at same rate. Used PRICELINE link on this forum.
  17. IE 7.0. I searched Colorado - Priceline for 10/15-10/29 and only 10/27 showed up with 0 wins
  18. Just booked this. I tried all sorts of bidding combinations starting as low as $28, closing browser several times and starting over with different re-bid strategies (always using the PRICELINE link on this forum). Finally got a great deal (I think -- this is rated #10 of 104 hotels in Colorado Springs on Tripadvisor). Here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $40.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.39 Total Charged to Card: $51.39 Was offered opportunity to extend the stay at same price, too. Free breaksfast and internet, so having exceeding "goal" budget by $5.00 or so was worth it. p.s. the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins board is still not working.
  19. I had the exact same problem as Newbie, but for Colorado, dates 10/10 - 10/24.
  20. One final update . . . upon arrival the folks at the Renaissance upgraded the room to a Junior Suite. Everyone there was very nice. The concierge was the best!
  21. As a follow up . . . . I called the hotel directly to "request two double beds, if available" and the folks at the Renaissance actually "confirmed" two double beds. I was pleasantly surprised. Usually they just make a note of the request on the reservation and it is up to the desk clerk. I think this is the first time a hotel has actually confirmed two double beds prior to check in.
  22. I just booked the Renaissance Washington D.C. on Priceline for three nights, September 14-17. I have been trying for the last week for 3-4 star hotel up to $120 in both Capital Hill and White House areas. Today I started with 3.5 Star in Convention Center/Capital Hill area at $120 (I started with 3.5 star because I really preferred the reported hotels in that star rating to the 4-star hotels; I started at $120 knowing that bid had previously been rejected and was unlikely to be successful). When looking at booking through hotels directly as a back-up I had observed that the night of the 14th was the biggest issue with trying to get a good deal. Many hotels were charging $300-400 for the night of the 14th, but the rates for the 15th and 16th were under $200. I even tried to split some reservations, but I could never book the night of the 14th by itself (I was always told it was sold out (at least at those hotels I was interested in), but available if I included it in a reservation for three nights. But when I tired to book 3 nights, I got charged the higher rate for all three nights and didn't get the benefit of the stand alone lower rates for Thursday and Friday night). But, Priceline came through today! My first bid was $120, rejected and offered free rebid if I raised to $146 (I declined) added first rebid zone and went to $125, rejected added second rebid zone and went to $133, accepted. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $133.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $399.00 Taxes & Fees: $66.45 Total Charged to Card: $465.45 This booking is for my mother-in-law who is beyond THRILLED. The goal was to be within a couple of block from the Metro, close to the sites and under $500 total.
  23. As an update, we never traveled to Hawaii. We decided to go to Mexico and booked through a tour company.
  24. I need help with this Hotwire offering. 4-start hotel in White House/Capital Hill area with the following: non-smoking fitness center pool restaurant business center wireless offered at $202/ni recommended by 90% of hotwire users (I can never tell if this is acutal hotwire users or from trip advisor) 4.5 user rating based on 500+ total reivews (I can never tell if this is acutal hotwire users or from trip advisor) I hope it is the W Hotel, but it looks like there is Capital Liaison Hotel has same ammenities (W has 299 trip advisor reviews and 4.0 rating;Capital Liason has 507 trip advisor reviews, but only a 4.0 rating). If the "total reviews" number is based on Trip Advisor info, my guess is it is Capital Liason. I would prepfer the W. Any thoughts?
