  1. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $45.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes & Fees: $23.20 Total Charged to Card: $113.20 Meh, was hoping for better among the reported 3* properties. Oh well, not for me and budget stongly dictated options. Used PRICELINE link on this forum to search and bid.
  2. Used the "extend your stay" feature and secured the night of the 6th, too.
  3. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $45.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.98 Total Charged to Card: $58.98 Used PRICELINE link on this forum to search & bid.
  4. Started in Happauge zone for 3.5* at $50, $55, $60 and 65 (using various free rebid strategies) with no luck. Moved to Macarthur bidding 3*, starting at $50, got immediate coutneroffer fo $59, declined and increased to $52 (using free rebid options) and won. Here are the details. Springhill Suites Long Island Brookhaven Macarthur Airport (ISP) 2 Sawgrass Drive, Bellport, NY 11713 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $52.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $52.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.00 Total Charged to Card: $67.00 Priceline says I saved 59%. The advanced payment rate on hotel's website is $109, so I guess 59% isn't quite accurate given that priceline is advanced payment; but the flexibile rate was $129 so based on that I guess I saved the 59%. In any event, the reviews on tripadvisor are good, so I am very pleased with the result. It is always nice to have a suite and free breakfast too, so that is a really nice bonus. We are looking forward to the stay. I've been bidding with the same strategy for the last two weeks (up to $65 for Happauge 3.5* and up to $60 for Macarthur 3*). Today was the first time I received a counteroffer. Used PRICELINE link on this forum to search and bid.
  5. Was bidding with $10/ni bonus cash. Started at $60/$70 and bid up to $82/92 (with bonus) for 4* in each White House & Convention Center areas, with no luck. Also up to $82/92 for 3.5 star in White House area; and up to $65/75 for 3 star in White House area (was hoping for residence inn or new courtyard), all with no luck. Started at $60/70 in Dupont Circle area and using free rebid zones for a 4 star I bid up to $75/85, at which point I won. Of all reported wins in the area, this would have been my last choice, but it is will work just fine -- the trip is not about the hotel. Here are the details. Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night $10.00 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $75.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $225.00 Taxes & Fees: $45.06 Total Charged to Card: $270.06 Used PRICELINE links on this forum for searches & bids.
  6. if that priceline deal can be cancelled, which my guess is that it can (I've received similar offers in the past, although never below my offered price), I say keep bidding. You might still be able to get something for less. but hold on to Alamo deal until you find better!
  7. I need to make a correction. This was a 2* win. I assumed I'd been upgraded because I think this hotel was previously reported as a 2.5* win. In any event, it is a 2* win.
  8. booked this today, 1/24 using $10/ni bonus cash, cost to me $45/ni. was tyring various straegies and up to $75 for 3.5* in USE, USW, Wharf and Embarcadero. At this star level, I was hoping to have been under $150 for all thre nights, but I still think it is good for San Fran. Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night $10.00 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $45.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $135.00 Taxes & Fees: $34.65 Total Charged to Card: $169.65 Used PRICELINE link on this forum.
  9. Pick-Up Date & Time: Friday, January 18 2013 - 12:30 AM Drop-Off Date & Time: Saturday, January 19 2013 - 12:30 AM Your Offer Price:$18.00 (per day) Total Rental Days:1 SubTotal:$18.00 Taxes and Fees: $13.53 Total Rental Car Charges: $31.53 You saved 36%!* Tried bidding for for drop off on the 18th in the evening, but late PM at $16, rejected. changed dates, bust still a one day rental and got it for $18. The cheapest I could find outside Pricline was $42 total at Budget. So I saved about $10. Used PRICELINE link.
  10. I think it is possible to get a resort under $300, but it is just not going to happen now. Book somtheing that can be cancelled, anything, just so you don't find yourself without a place to stay. Then, be patient and continue to bid. Personally, I would not bid over $200 at this time. The resorts are likely not releasing rooms because they want to sell them at the premium rate ($400+) for that weekend, which is a long holdiay weekend and a prime trime for travel to Hawaii. I would also consider lowering your star rating for the Kaanapali Area and/or trying to bid for resort in Wailea, where reported wins for the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa tend to be much lower than the Kaanapali area.
  11. Waited 24 hours bid again today. My husband tried $30/day and again got the $37 day counter offer. I then tried and got the minivan today for $33/day @ Budget for pick-up today 1/8, returning 1/14. Super happy as we need the car tonight. Here are the details: Your Offer Price: $33.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 6 days Subtotal: $198.00 Taxes and Fees: $78.99 Total Charges: $276.99 Lowest Published Price: $741.51 (USD) Total Savings:* $464.52 (USD) (You saved 63%) Used PRICELINE link here to search and bid. p.s. Just noticed that this is the exact same price we paid last year in January ($33/ni for minivan @ RSW), but for one week earlier.
  12. I'm just going to quote the priceline policy about what is a "rental day." What's a rental car day? Rental car pricing is all about timing - when you call a rental company or visit one of their web sites, the rate you pay is based on the exact combination of pick-up and drop-off dates and times you ask for. The same goes for cars rented through priceline - the price you pay per day is only valid for the dates and times you specify when you make your request on our web site. When you use our Name Your Own Price® rental car service, rental days are calculated on a 24-hour clock. For rental car reservations where we show you the specific rental car rates from a rental car company, the length of the reservation is based exactly on the dates and times you enter. Name Your Own Price® Rental Car Days Rental days are calculated on a 24-hour clock - that's why we ask you to select pick-up and drop-off times. When you request additional hours, as a convenience to you, we will reserve your rental car for the entire day in most cases to give you flexibility in your travel plans. That means that if you request a rental car for pick-up on Friday at 9:00 am and drop-off on Saturday at 12:00 pm noon, it is considered a TWO-DAY rental. If your request is accepted, we'll reserve your rental car for pick-up on Friday at 9:00 am and drop-off on Sunday at 9:00 am. In most cases, we will book you in 24 hour blocks when you request additional time unless we can qualify you for a better price by reserving your car until 11:30 pm on the day you requested your drop-off. So, for example, if you request a rental car for pick-up on Saturday at 12:00 noon and drop-off on Monday at 5:00 pm, we will reserve your car until Monday at 11:30 pm. You will still have flexibility for your travel plans, but at a much better price. In cases of delayed flights or unforeseen circumstances, rental car companies will honor reservations up to 24 hours after your scheduled pick-up time - no changes to your offer are necessary. Priceline Pointer- Be sure to return your rental car at the agreed-upon time. If you return your car later than the drop-off date and time you choose you may be charged for additional rental hours or days at the discretion and prevailing rate of your rental car company. It is a little confusing because of the 24 hour policy coupled with two different examples, followed by a warning that you might be charged extra.
  13. This information may be helpful to others trying to get retnal cars out of RSW any time soon. I bid $30 for a minivan and Priceline offered me a one time opportunity to increase my bid to $37. I declined. I don't know if I would have won, but I have to believe that I would have. I also bid $15 on a full-size and was offered me a one time opportunity to increase my bid to $23. I declined. I don't know if I would have won, but I have to believe that I would have. I also tried $16/day for a mid-size and standard-size SUV, both were rejected outright (no "one time opportunity").
  14. Have you thought about VRBO.com ("vacatoin rentals by owner")? There are many vacation rentals on Kaanapli Beach that you can rent direct from the owner. And, many times the units include full kitchens (something that has become more important for me now that I have small children). A 2-night stay over Presidents weekend might be hard to find, but I've had really good luck. Click on the state and then the region you are looking for. You can also fill in the calendar for your dates and the search results will yield only those rentals that are available. Scan and see if there is something in your budget. By way of example, we are staying in a studio (with full kitchen) February 17-20 at the Whaler @ $125/ni. We are then staying in a one-bedroom (again full kitchen) Feb 20-23 at Maui Kaanapali Villas for $200/ni. We are "filling in" open days on the calendars for the owners so I was able to negotiate slightly discounted rates -- when searching, I didn't look for a one week rental, I intentionally looked for 2-3 night openings and then offered to "fill in" the owner's calendar if they gave me a discounted rate. Many owners have a minimum number of nights, but if they have just a few days between bookings they will rent them in order to be able to fill in their calendars. Just an idea.
  15. This is President's Day Weekend. I've learned after several years of traveling to Maui during the February/March timeframe to only travel after this weekend because the rates seem to be incredibly inflated (yes Maui is expensive, but this weekend seems to be one of the worst). I think Maui is a very popular destination for this weekend for people in California. I'm not saying you cannot secure something on PRICELINE. But I think your chances of getting something under $200 will come much later. I would recommend making a reservation that can be cancelled and then continuing to try for your dates. My guess is that your best chance will come much closer to your travel dates when the hotels better know what their occupancy rates will be. Just my two cents. And, I would recommend not trying to use the "extend your stay" feature offer through PRICELINE until much closer to your travel dates, again, when the resorts know what occupancy for that weekend is expected to be. You can only try his option once and if you know that the rate you got for 10-15 will be rejected, don't waste now your best chance of getting the same resort for your entire stay on Maui. I would wait until after February 1st (within 14 days of the 15th) before trying to extend the stay. And, if you haven't done so, please report your $220 win for the 10-15.
  16. tried bidding for arrival the 31st and departure the 4th, but realized the 31st was the premium night and wasn't going to find anything in the budget. I then tired bidding for the nights of Jan 1-4 only in. most cental London zones. for 4* hotel up to $100/ni and finally got this. This is for my au pair who is pleased and they will spend the 31st at a hostel .5 miles away so it really works out well for them (if they are not going t spend real time in the hotel on the 31st, why pay the premium rate!?). I was using Entertainment Book bonus cash, so bid was $80, but acutal winning bid was $86.67: Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night US$6.67 Offer Price: Avg. per room, per night US$80.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: US$240.00 Taxes & Fees: US$61.80 Total Charged to Card: US$301.80 tried to extend the stay for the 31st with no luck. I thought I could try tha tmore than once, but I guess it is a one time offer as I tried again a couple of days later and it recognized I had already tried to extend with no luck. so, they will do the hostel the first night. used your PRICELINE link to search & bid.
  17. started at $30, got counter for $45, added free rebids for 3.5* in this zone increasing each bid by $1 - won at $40 (same as in the past). Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $40.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.99 Total Charged to Card: $53.99 used PRICELINE link to bid.
  18. just needed something for the night as I missed a connection. First checked hotwire and found 2.5* for $45, but it didn't say it had a shuttle so I tried my luck with priceline. Started in O'Hare North, 4* up to 45 with no luck. 3.5* up to 40 no luck. 3* at $40 no luck. then tried O'hare south, 3* at $40 and won. Here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $40.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: 40.00 Taxes & Fees: 13.57 Total Charged to Card: $53.57 Used PRICELINE link for searches & bids.
  19. Using $7 bonus cash received for Cyber Monday promo. Started at $23 for 3.5* property in IAH zone (plus $7 bonus) and added free rebid zones up to $33 ($40 with $7 bonus) and got this. $40 seems to be the gonig rate for this property. Details below: Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night $7.00 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $33.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.96 Total Charged to Card: $46.96 Used PRICELINE link on this forum to search & bid.

  21. Just booked this for this weekend. Tried bidding both downtown Seattle zones on Priceline, for a 4* up to $90 with no luck. Saw this on Hotwire for $84, searching for 3 adults, concluded it was probably the Hyatt, booked and confirmed the Hyatt. Super excited, includes free breakfast, free internet and based on Tripadvisor reviews it offers free shuttle to Pikes Place Market. Here are the details: Hyatt Place Seattle/Downtown 110 6th Avenue North, Seattle, WA, 98109 (206) 441-6041 Rate per night:$84.00 Nights:2 Rooms:1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $40.28 Subtotal: $208.28 Trip total: $208.28 Amenities: Indoor pool(s); Smoke Free Rooms; Fitness Center; Pool(s); Business Center; High-Speed Internet Access; Free Breakfast; Free Internet; Accessible for the blind; Accessible path of travel; In-room accessibility; Accessible bathroom; Handicapped parking; Roll-in shower Used HOTWIRE link on this site for searches & booking.

  23. Booked this afternoon (9/29) for stay tonight. Stayed yesterday and it was very nice property. I didn't opt for the "extend your stay" because we had already checked out and I wasn't sure if that was still an option. And, I wanted to see if I could get something cheaper. I first bid $65 and got counter at $86 (what we paid for last night's stay); before I accepted it, I told my husband to bid on his accout. My husband bid $76 and we got it. Very pleased to get the same property as last night and to save the extra $10. Now I can enjoy a martini in the lounge! Here are the details: Wyndham Gettysburg 95 Presidential Circle, Gettysburg, PA 17325 717-339-0020 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $76.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! 24. Booked this today (8/28) for this evening. No free rebids in Gettysburg. I bid $50 on my acocunt with no luck. Husband bid $62 on his account and go a counteroffer at $86. Before accepting, my nanny (traveling with us) bid $72 with no luck, so my husband accepted the $86 counteroffer. We are very pleased. This seems to be a nice hotel.
