  1. Booked this today. The area was just called "Riverwalk" not Riverwalk West & La Villita. Rate per night:$68.00 Nights:1 Rooms:1 Tax recovery charges & fees:$17.41 Subtotal: $85.41 Trip total:$85.41 Amenities listed were: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, & Self service laundry. also, claimed 90% approval rating among Hotwire reviewers. Used HOTWIRE link. note: when making the reservation Hotwire said the guest checking in had to be 21, but the confirmation said 18.
  2. just booked this. Priceline had a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal, 3.5* for $57, so was hoping to save off that price. started at $30 and worked my way up adding $1-2 per bid while adding free rebid zones (of which there many at this star level in this area) Hotels near IAH are pretty expensive tonight and in low supply due to weather issues around IAH the last couple of days, so I'm pleased. And, my back-up was this same hotel but burning 20k HHonors points. We've been here before and its a nice hotel, just a little far from the aiport, but it does have a free shutte. And, I'd rather pay $62 and save the points! Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $47.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $47.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.26 Total Charged to Card: $62.26 Used PRICELINE link to search & bid.
  3. booked this a few days ago: Rate per night: 51.00 Nights:1 Rooms:1 Tax recovery charges & fees:$14.84 Subtotal:$65.84 Trip total:$65.84 Amenities stated were: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Golf Nearby Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Used HOTWIRE link.
  4. Back up rental was with Alamo, for a standard car, total with insider discount was $212. Tried bidding PRICELINE for the last week up to about $45/day for fullsize and/or standard, with no luck (as well as various other options trying to bring the total under $200, and ideally under $150, but no luck) -- which was really surprising. Not sure why these dates were so expensive, but we've never paid this much in Ft. Myers. Next month we are already planning to fly into and/or out of TPA, MIA or FLL because the car rental rates are so much less expesnive. Ended up booking on a Standard car with Alamo through HOTWIRE for $191 total. Used PRICELINE links on this forum to search & bid.
  5. Back up rental was with Alamo, for a standard car, total with insider discount was $212. Tried bidding priceline for the last week up to about $45/day for fullsize and/or standard, with no luck (as well as various other options trying to bring the total under $200, and ideally under $150, but no luch) -- which was really surprising. Saw this option on Hotwire and booked it at the very last minute and it ended up being with Alamo, but about $21 cheaper than our straight booking through Alamo (which we promptly cancelled). I'm not sure what was driving the high rates for these three days, but we have never paid this much for a car in Ft. Myers (and I know Ft. Myers is expensive, but really this is outrageous for a 3-day Monday-Thursday rental). Usually we can get a fullsize for under $20/day and a minivan for around $30/day on Priceline. Here is the price breakdown. Car daily rate - Hotwire hot Rate:$47.95 Rental days:3 Tax recovery charges and fees:$47.80 Subtotal:$191.65 Trip total: $191.65 Used HOTWIRE links here.
  6. Alamo is quoating $585 on alamo.com for a fullsize for those dates. Make sure to sign up for the insider club and be logged in when you search for your rates. and, if you use the $25 off the $175 promo coupon, you can get the rate down to $555. to be clear, the quote on Alamo is for the dates 1/25 to 2/9, per the text of your message, not the title. If you are looking through the 19th, it is way more. Sorry for the confusion.
  7. We just discovered that the hotel has a complimentary shuttle (on demand during the day/scheduled in the evening) that runs on a continuous loop with various designated stops in the downtown core. This makes up for the less than ideal location.
  8. winning bid was $55/ni. this was for two nights, 11/15/-17. Started at $40 and using free rebids worked my way up. At $50 got counter for $62, so I figured 55 or 56 would do it. closed browser and restarted several differnet sessions using your PRICELINE link until I won at $55. Seems like a good win. I see this hotel has free parking, but it not quite the central downtown core. Here are details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $55.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $110.00 Taxes & Fees: $24.36 Total Charged to Card: $134.36 Used your PRICELINE link to search & bid.
  9. Always a minivan. Always exact same drop off date & time. 11/26 to 12/1, drop & pick-ups at 9:30 a.m. Here is today's calculation: Summary of Charges Your Offer Price:$40.00 (per day) Total Rental Days:5 Subtotal:$200.00 Taxes and Fees: (details)$78.10 Total Charges:prices are in US dollars $278.10 This is similar to a prior tax calcuation, but slightly different. I don't think I'm doing anything differently, so I can't seem to figure out why I'm getting different results. Today I even tried both (1) a regular search to check prices before NYOP, and (2) going straight for NYOP, and the results were exactly the same.
  10. Here is today's calculation: Summary of Charges Your Offer Price:$40.00 (per day) Total Rental Days:5 Subtotal:$200.00 Taxes and Fees: (details)$77.25 Total Charges: prices are in US dollars $277.25 So taxes today are significantly less than yesterday, but still higher than a few days ago.
  11. How can this be? Yesterday I bid for a 5 day rental car as follows: Your Offer Price: $40.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 5 Subtotal: $200.00 Taxes and Fees: (details) $73.80 Total Charges: prices are in US dollars $273.80 Today I bid for the same drop/pick-up dates & times and same type of car and this is what the bid summary shows: Your Offer Price:$40.00 (per day) Total Rental Days:5 Subtotal: $200.00 Taxes and Fees: (details)$113.60 Total Charges: prices are in US dollars $313.60 So today the taxes are $40 more? I started noticing difference over the last week so I took a snapshot of yesterday's bid so I could compare. As I suspected, things are inconsistent. Anyone out there have an explanation? Needless to say, I'm annoyed.
  12. Can you change the posting to reflect the winning dates 11/16 - 11/17, please?
  13. this if for 11/16 to 11/17, not 10/26 . . . Moderator please correct the winning bid title. booked this on 10/18. Started at $40 and worked up by $1/bid adding free rebids (about 16 free rebids in this star/area). Had gone up to $52 on previous days, but decided to go a little higher this time: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $55.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.69 Total Charged to Card: $70.69 Used PRICELINE links on this forum to search and bid.
  14. Tried bidding this star level/zone yesterday at $80 and $90 (using lone free rebid) and was rejected. Noticed rates were extremely high for this night. Today I was surpised to see what I think was this hotel offered as a Priceline "express deal" for $100, a reported 65% savings. So, after waiting my 24 hours since yesterday, I rebid and won immediately today with $80 bid. Excellent. Here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night US$80.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: US$80.00 Taxes & Fees: US$13.94 Total Charged to Card: US$93.94 Used PRICELINE links to search & bid. Seems like this is an excellent deal!
  15. I've been bidding the last couple of days starting at $40 for 4* in this zone, usually ending my sessions at $52. Today I realized I might need to go a little higher so I just kept adding free rebid zones and going up by $1.00 and finally won at $58 for the Hilton (I did not receive any counteroffers today or in prior bid sessions). I was hoping to pay a little less and to be closer to the ball park, but this is fine (plus I'm Hilton diamond and Hilton is pretty good about giving you your perks even though it is a third-party booking). Here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $58.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $58.00 Taxes & Fees: $16.28 Total Charged to Card: $74.28 Used PRICELINE link to search & bid.
  16. Booked this on 6/11. I first bid the Brooks area for 2.5* at 30 and 35 (adding free rebid for Shepardsville zone), both failed. Restarted with airport zone, starting at 30; added Shepardsville zone at 35 and failed; added Brooks zone at $40 and won. Here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $40.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.32 Total Charged to Card: $53.32 Used PRICELINE link to search and bid.
  17. Started bidding for 4* in this zone way low at $30, so low in fact the system kicked me out after two bids and offered me regular rates. Started again at $35 and kept adding free rebid zones, when I reached $50 I got $60 counteroffer, declined and bid 3 more times going up by $1 each bid and won at $53. I thought it would have won the Hilton (and for a little less) as it was advertised on Priceline for $89. But this will work too. Here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $53.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $53.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.93 Total Charged to Card: $68.93 Used PRICELINE link to search and bid.
  18. The title for this win must be a mistaken, the ES Histroic Charleston is downtown. the ES North Charleston - Airport/Hotel & Convention, is by the airport.
  19. I was bidding various star levels and zones looking for something inexpensive near Charlotte and/or aiport (but not downtown because you will have to pay to park). I received the following counteroffers: $58 for a 3.5* in this same zone, Executive Park (I got this will bidding 46, so my guess is $52 would have won it, but I was looking for cheaper) $51 for a 2.5* (or better I guess) in the Airport Zone (I got this when I bid 40, so my guess is $45-46 would have won it) $48 for a 2.5* (or better) in this same zone. I got this when I bid 40, so I guessed it would take $44, but I added zones and increased by $1, winning at $42 (there are no "free rebid zones at the 2.5* level, so I added the previously bid Airport Zone and downtown (didn't think I would get a anything downtown so I felt safe) and was prepared to add Charlotte-South park zone (which shows 2.5* avialable but for which there are no reported wins and if I got one, well so be it) - it only took two more bids and I won at $42. This hotel was not previously reported. here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $42.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.57 Total Charged to Card: $57.57 Used PRICELINE link to search & bid.
  20. First bid for 3* in this zone, using free rebids scenarios up to $40 with no luck. Started over for 2.5* and won on first bid, $35. Here are the details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $35.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.16 Total Charged to Card: $48.16 Used PRICELINE link to search & bid.
  21. Started at $35 for 3.5* in this zone. Using free rebid stategies I increased my bids by $1-2 each bid, receiving a $54 counter offer (when I bid $38), which I declined, kept bidding and won at $48. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $48.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.73 Total Charged to Card: $61.73 Used PRICELINE link to search and bid.
  22. Started at $30 in this zone for 3* and worked way up. Got counter at $44 that I could win at $59. declined and kept using various free rebid strategies and won it at $51. Details: Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $51.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $102.00 Taxes & Fees: $22.32 Total Charged to Card: $124.32 Used PRICELINE link to search and bid.
  23. Yep, same price. I guess the downside of "extend your stay" versus just booking two nights as one stay is you pay a little more in "fees" because you are making 2 separate PRICELINE bookings.
