  1. This is the best Courtyard in New Jersey, yet very good price and "deterministic" since there is only ONE 2.5* at Basking Ridge, NJ and NO 2* hotel. So, if you get it at $37, it is great, if not, choose 2* and bid it again at higher price still either get this new courtyard or none, won't hit something unexpected. This hotel is right at Fwy 78-West x33
  2. This is by far the best 2* hotel I ever been; it has nice pool, and look like 2.5* in any angle but with great sit down hot complimentary breakfast.... I stayed at this hotel often, and there is currently only one 2* hotel in Plymouth Meeting, so always got it ...
  3. Got this nice sport hotel quite a few times at $37. It has the most sport varieties like many pool tables, shuffle ball [only seen here], table socker, great indoor pool, 4 rocquetball courts, 1 indoor basketball court ...etc. It is at Plainsboro but very close to Princeton ...
  4. After trying for over one year, finally got this hotel and at pretty good price ... It has very nice swimming pool and many other things.
  5. Got this by accident. no complimentary breakfast as most 2* hotels do, but it has most 2.5* have like nice big swimming pool, sport restaurant and good size lobby... right at exit of Fwy 287, good stop heading NYC from the west like PA, OH...
  6. This is one of the best hotels in New Jersey and for $37 I would choose this hotel over Hyatt Jersey City for weekend getaway [don't forget $15 self park and $30 valet at Hyatt Jersey City, but free here as most NJ hotels in suburb]... I saw someone posted it $65 on TOBB.com, but I have got it for $37 for 4 times for past months... This is newly released hotel for priceline and is best kept secret in New Jersey... Be warned, the buffet breakfast is $19 per person...
  7. This hotel is very convenient with big room but no pool, and I often got it at $35 the minumum. It has direct charter bus from the hotel to New York City, midtown, downtown and Chinatown...
  8. I used to be able to get this new Hilton Garden Inn as low as $32, somehow, I have tried for months and increased the bid every week, such low price no longer possible ...
  9. Btw, Candlewood Suites, although 2*, at Jersey City, is no worse than Hyatt, depends on your purpose. e.g. parking is free vs $15 self park and $30 valet at Hyatt. It even right next to NY Waterway ferry that is a good way to Manhattan during sunny day [except winter...], while stay here, you can still have a nice dinner at Vue Restaurant of Hyatt with gorgerous Manhattan view before walking back your suite. The board walk is nice that you can walk all the way up to another Ferry where Courtyard (2.5*) is.
  10. Very true. In fact, that's what I have been doing. Here is my two cents. You would drive toward your destination without making advance reservation, e.g. heading Orlando FL [because you did not know the weather and how long would take you and kids at the nice museums on the way... etc] Then, with your GPS and PDA loaded software bluetoothing with your GPS receiver your map would be able to show you the hotels along the road. Now, ignore most but a few like Courtyard [or Kinkos as I used before], you can land on a Courtyard for a rest by 6pm, and bid on the hotel for the night. As a rule of thumb, $50 for 3*, $40 for 2.5* and $30 for 2* seemed to always got something pretty good ... If you want better room, don't check in too early. You would be surprised that they give you two room suites or upgrade 14 feet ceiling room or suite.
  11. Courtyard by Marriott at Parsippany NJ is as shine and clean as other Courtyards. I have stayed in as many Courtyards in NJ as you can imagine, and they tend to stick on the "similar level" of quality and expectation. [unlike Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, you got surprise all the time ...]. For this particular stay, I got two Queen bed room which they normally do not give to Priceline customer [they give King room with sofabed, which is nice too] This particular Courtyard is over 4 years from last upkeep [Courtyard has policy to renovate every 5 years], so, although it is still nice, it is to be renovated [e.g. carpet replaced ...etc] soon ... Hyatt at Jersey City is certainly one of the best choices for people visiting New York City; we stayed over there when we go to NYC events, e.g. Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Balloon Inflation at Central Park the night before, Rokefeller Christmas Tree, ...etc. Otherwise, New Jersey has many nice hotels to stay at equally low cost thru Priceline.
  12. Tried to do better on AmeriSuites but got Courtyard at $35 on first bid. Nice courtyard, hotels in this area are relatively new, good mid point down to Florida from New York area ...
  13. Tried to do better but got Couryard by Marriott at $35 ...
  14. This Fairfield Inn is better than many other Fairfield Inn I stayed. Nice complimentary breakfast with indoor corridor, unlike other motel like ... good midpoint to DC and Baltimore area...
  15. The hotels in the area are relatively new, and this Horsham Homestead Suites is particularly great; you got full kitchen among other things and very new... but no pool no complimentary breakfast ...
  16. This Courtyard just reached its 5 year limit and will be renovated in April and May, after that would be a sort of brand new hotel again (new carpet, new ...)
  17. Trying to duplicate $45 on Summerfield Suites but got Courtyard by Marriott... After trying many different combinations, my conclusion is that in this area, bidding 2.5* during weekends would be very likely to land on Courtyard by Marriott since it's website weekend rate is only $59 (but weekday rate is $139+), even bidding one day during weekday may still get Courtyard. So if you try to get Summerfields at $45, you are better off to have multiple weekdays in the bid... I would be very interested in knowing an exception... On the other hand the weekend Summerfields website rate is only $67, so already very low ...
  18. This $45 bid for Summerfield Suites would ONLY work during weekdays and multiple days... Try to bid on weekends or single day at weekeday; your $45 bid will land on Courtyard Parsippany ...
  19. Yes, that's what I typically do. You can bid the same day by 6pm. In this area, there are only 4 hotels of Priceline. i.e. Hyatt (3*), Doubletree(3*), Courtyard by Marriott(2.5*) and Candlewood Suites(2*), so if anyone running into similar situation, one can bid 3*, then 2.5* then 2*, have 3 chances. In the good old days, Hyatt's lowest is always $37, but now seem to be around $46, unless there is no room. So, you can checked out the Hyatt website first. In any case, $75 bid in the area is almost always got some good ones ....
  20. I have tried for hundred times trying to bid the hotel at Short Hills area and NEVER got one... I am pretty familiar with hotels in NJ, and if you would tell me more specific, I may be able to suggest an area nearby to bid a hotel thru Priceline...
