  1. We are going to NYC for the first time from Friday 12/2/2011 to Saturday 12/10/2011. We have our flights setup and our vacation time planned with the jobs so can't change the date now! We will be flying into Newark and, to save money, probably will stay the night we fly in and the night before we fly out in Newark to save money. So we are overwhelmed with where we should stay, our budget is about $200 a night with taxes in NYC. We would love to stay somewhere convenient so we don't waist a lot of time spinning our wheels. I've tried the following bidding without success: Priceline bidding strategy (Location #, Location, Star rating available): 1 Brooklyn All 2 Central Park South All 3 Chelsea All 4 Coney Island 1,2 5 Downtown - Soho Financial All 6 Empire State Building Area All 7 Hell

Asked if possible to upgrade when I got to the front desk to check in, but was denied (was hoping to try and get into one of the sleeper cars the place is famous for)...not a big deal, just thought I'd try. Ended up in Hotel Building #2. Room was clean, no odors, Wife and I thought beds were very comfortable. The bathroom, while clean, was pretty old looking, and for some reason the water temperature in the shower would cycle hot to cold pretty severely. Not sure if it was room specific (rm 288), probably should have said something but didn't. Overall a very pleasant experience. Both enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning which was about $30 for both of us with drinks and a 20% tip. One gift shop on the property was very nice and had good prices, and they also had some good ice cream next door to it (even though I was probably the only one wanting ice cream in 45
