  1. Yes, you are correct, once I searched with the BiddingHelper.com those showed up. (I had used the old way of just proceeding through like you were about to purchase it and then clicking on the amenities from that page. I'm out of practice! LOL) I'm have to wait to book to be sure our plans are concrete, but once I do I will be sure to use the BetterBidding links. Thanks!
  2. Must be something going on in Minneapolis next week, rates are really high for all my usual picks. Especially Tuesday night. So, I'm broadening my search and this caught my eye. Does anyone have a guess on this 3* deal for Minneapolis-Roseville/Arden Hills area July 24-26. It's listed as today's 'top deal', the rate is $62 per night. Amenities include Free parking, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry. I was guessing the Radisson, the only thing that threw me off was that the hot rate listing said the hotel had a 90% approval but when you look at the Radisson's regular listing it only says 80%. Thanks in advance! Edit-I think I answered my own question. I was looking at Priceline as well, and once I signed in I was offered the Radisson for $61 as a 'member rate'. It didn't look like I could delete my thread, but I didn't want anyone to spend too much time researching this since I believe it is the Radisson.
  3. Waited too long and missed the lower prices I was seeing a few days ago. Still saved money compared to my placeholder booking. Started at $58. Rejected right away, got the offer for a free rebid if I'd raise my bid to $84. Ah, no. Kept adding zones and finally won at $69. After reading some reviews, decided to go ahead and use the 'add a night' feature for the last night of our trip so we wouldn't have to change hotels. Lowest rate I found online was $134.
  4. The HOTWIRE Hotel in this zone did end up being The Commons. Full amenities listed after purchase are free internet, restaurant(s), tennis nearby, fitness center, internet access. Accessibility amenities are accessible for visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower. Rate was $81 at time of purchase. With fees the total was $101.28. Priceline had a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that I figured was the Commons for about $4 less, but I wanted to ensure we'd have 2 beds. A quick check on the website showed the lowest rate was an advance purchase rate of $179 ($203 w/tax) Thanks for your help. I will start new threads for the other travel days once they are booked.
  5. Since I decided to pass on potentially getting the Royal Regency, I ended up using points and staying at the Residence Inn.
  6. Thanks for the insight. Still working on this trip. My travel dates are actually 8/25-8/28, but it looks like I'll have better luck booking each day separately. (I have a cancellable room near the airport/Mall of America that I booked months ago as a backup, but now I'm trying to find a deal and save some cash or upgrade for the same price.) That being said, since we always stay at the Commons, I'm tempted to splurge Thursday night on the 4.5* Downtown hotel listed for $94. FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower. Maybe the Radisson Blu? Though the W and Le Meridien have similar amenity sets. For 8/26 I found a 3* in the downtown east area for $59. Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Children's activities, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower. Those amenities sound like the Aloft. I start all my searches, etc. with the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links here. As always, thanks!
  7. I've found a $78 rate for a 3.5* hotel in downtown-east University of Mn area on 8/25. Amenities listed are: Free Internet, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Internet access, Tennis nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower. Thoughts? 95% recommended. Not the boutique listing. Thanks in advance! ETA: Hmmm, I wonder if they downgraded the Commons on Hotwire? I've won it on Priceline as a 3.5*, but I thought it used to be a 4* on Hotwire.
  8. Thanks, the more I researched, that's kind of what I was thinking as well. Reviews for the Royal Regency are mixed, I think I'll pass. I appreciate the input.
  9. I'm trying to guess what this 3.5* hotel might be. 7/7 check in, $126 rate on Hot.wire. Amenities are: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower. It says 'still gathering reviews' which always makes me a little nervous. Thanks in advance!
  10. Pulled the trigger and went for the hotel I was originally eyeing. As expected, it was the Baymont Inn and Suites. While my final price was higher than when I first started looking, it's a great deal compared to the $120 rack rate on the hotel website. Details for this listing were: 3* Disney Maingate West. Amenities=Free parking,Free breakfast,Free Internet,Smoke-free rooms,Fitness center,Business center,Self-service laundry,Internet access,Golf nearby. Resort fee of $7.91. After taxes/fees (but before resort fee) my total was $63.19. Bring on spring break!!
  11. How much faith can I put in Hotwire's note of "The last person that booked got _______ hotel."? I've made purchases before where what they stated was what I ended up with. But there are some I'm seeing in Orlando where the same hotel is mentioned with multiple listings. Example, I clicked on a 3* $56 room that's 80% recommended on I-Drive South that says the last person won the Rosen Inn at Pointe. Scroll down a little further, and you see a $66 95% recommended 3* on I-Drive South that also says the last person won the Rosen Inn at Pointe. The amenity sets are different though. The first says: Free parking Free Internet Smoke-free rooms Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business cente rSelf-service laundry Internet access Golf nearby In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible. And the later says: Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Fitness center Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access. Maybe I've answered my own question, and you can't count on what shows as the last booked?
  12. Ugh, much like that listing, the reply I was typing poofed. After reading some threads here on the boards, I had guessed that the other was the Doubletree. It would be nice, though I wasn't keen on the additional fee for parking. I'll keep watching. We won't be getting in til after midnight, and I know the kids will want to get to Disney ASAP. So I was mainly looking for something cheap. But nice. And close to the parks. And maybe with breakfast. LOL :D I'm not picky at all, right? Thanks for your help!
  13. Looking for a room 3/20-3/21. 2 adults, 2 kids. Any idea on this 3* in the SeaWorld I-Drive South area? $54. Says regular rate is $194 so a 72% discount. 80% recommended, 4 out of 5 stars on TA. Amenities listed: Free parking, Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible. Amenity set seems to match Rosen Inn Pointe, but the price discount doesn't seem right. I was originally looking closer to Disney, but didn't scoop up what, I'm guessing. was the Baymont Celebration fast enough. (Was $38, now around $50) I figured I may as well expand my search a bit to see if there was anything better. We'll be coming from MCO, and only staying 1 night til we can get into our rental home. Thank in advance!
  14. Finally pulled the trigger on this stay. It was the Quality Inn & Suites. Wasn't able to use the Cyber Monday coupon because my subtotal wasn't high enough, but I'm confident we'll be happier staying here rather than at some of the more expensive options--this hotel gets great reviews on Trip Advisor. Opted not to bid, was worried I might be 'upgraded' to a higher star hotel without breakfast. I like my free food. ;) Room price: $56 nights: 2 room type: 1 king bed + sofabed-nonsmoking suite subtotal: $112 taxes/fees $20.66 Total: $132.56 There was a 15% off promo on the hotel website for staying 2 nights, their discount rate was $76 per night. (Estimated total of $167.26) So, we saved about $35 with the Express Deal. Looking forward to our stay. Thanks again!
  15. Thanks! I'd be happy with any of those. I was guessing Quality because of it being a lower regular rate than some of the others, so the percent off coordinates with the pricing. That, and the bed choices lined up as well. I may throw out a couple bids just to see what happens, but I'll have this as a backup. As always, I'll use the PRICELINE links from the board and I will report back once I've booked. I appreciate your help!
  16. I see there is a 2.5* hotel listed for $56 12/12-12/14. Rated 9/10, amenities include: Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Fitness Center, Free Parking, Free Internet, Free Breakfast. I'm guessing the Quality Inn & Suites, is that what you would guess? We just need a place to sleep while we're in the area visiting friends. I used a few priceline coupons for our travels this summer, have there been any recently? Thanks in advance!
  17. Whew, got it after all! Was trying to pay with paypal and it got hung up, opened the regular BB HOTWIRE link instead of the one through bidding helper and that's when it was gone. Luckily, I was able to back up in the original tab and pay with a credit card. So, hooray, The Kinzie! That's what I was originally inquiring about when I first started this thread! :D It had all the amenities you listed, 95% approval rating, and I got it for $123. After taxes/fees the total is $153.48. I will cancel my backup reservation at the Talbott. (Which also looked like a nice hotel, but the $62 savings I got on the Kinzie will pay for my parking. And again, we're not going to be in the room long at all, and the Kinzie gets great reviews.) As I said, I used the BB HOTWIRE links. Thanks again for all the help, it was much appreciated!!
  18. I thought I had dinked around too long last night, because the King + Sofabed choice was no longer an option. Luckily, it was back up this morning, so I scooped it up right away. The Express Deal was $55, listed as 2.5*, 7 out of 10 rating, there was a choice between king + sofabed or King accessible, amenities were: Indoor or Outdoor Pool Pets Allowed Fitness Center Free Parking Free Internet Free Breakfast Business Center With 17.13 taxes/fees the total was 72.13. $69.99 rate listed on their website, and a $66 rate on Priceline's list view. I've read a couple mixed reviews, but since it's only 1 night I'm sure it will be fine. I'm pretty easy to please. Plus, saving over $30 off the 3* deals in the area adds that much more to the lodging fund for the rest of our roadtrip. Thanks so much for all your help!
  19. Is the one you think could be the Hotel Chicago the listing with these amenities: Fitness Center, Business Center, Internet access, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower
  20. Ooh, another neat tool--thanks for sharing! And, yes, I've been using the Priceline and Hotwire links...multiple times a day. LOL
  21. I don't see any reported wins for a 2.5* in the Lincoln zone. Searching on Google and Price.line first only showed the Victorian Suites at that star level, though when I dug a little deeper, it looks like there is a Comfort Inn and Suites in that zone as well. Is there any other tool I could use to double check? I thought since there was a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for $55 (which, after fees, only ends up costing $5 less than the published deal Price.line has with the Victorian Suites) maybe it would be worth a shot to throw out a lowball bid to see if I get lucky. Or, is it not worth the potential headache of getting an iffy hotel that I missed in my search?
  22. I did my research and knew bidding on a 3.5* in this area would likely get this hotel. There was a Priceline.Express 3.5* option for $72, and one on Hot.wire that I though could be the same hotel for $79. I decided to start bidding at $49 and it was accepted right off the bat. Guess I should've started lower! ;) Still, rates on the hotel website started at $199 and I had a code through the University for a room for $139, so I am well pleased with my win. With taxes/fees the final cost was $63.57.
  23. The lowest rates I've found for a room I could cancel are $149-$175. (Those are the hotels I listed) I know there are slightly lower rates right now on Hotwire and Priceline for 4*'s in the vicinity. Thanks for the reminder about rate drop--I checked and only had 1 alert set, so I added a few more. My bids were low--up to $85 for a 4* and another time to $110 for a 4.5*. But, the $112 4* was available at those times, so I wasn't going to bid any higher than that. I guess I should look at this like buying airline tickets--buy at a rate I'm comfortable with, then never check rates again so I won't punish myself if there's a drop. Hahahaha! As for what I'm expecting to pay, I guess that's still up in the air. I've seen posts for 4* wins under $100 and 4.5* wins not much over $100--I guess I don't know if those are reasonable rates to hope for, or if those folks got incredible deals and I should plan on paying more.
  24. Waited too long and missed the $112 room (though it looks like it could still be available, just at a higher rate.) I see looking just a few days from now there are lots of low rates to be had. I know it doesn't mean that there will be great rates if I wait til the last minute for this stay, but it has kept me from bidding too high the couple times I've tested the waters. I also found good rates through the colleges we are visiting, so I have the Talbott, the MileNorth, or either Club Quarters as a lower cost backup that I may reserve as a fallback just to give me the piece of mind of having something while I peruse Price.line and Hot.wire.
