  1. Noticed that in the Hotwire bidding: I no longer see the hotel amenities icons but, there is the new hotel hints. Any suggestions on dealing with? strategies selecting the hotels? how we for sure know before hand that we would get certain amenity we would like? (e.g. free internet, shuttle etc)
  2. I followed the suite in the evening, also got this hotel for $99/nite for the same dates as this winning priceline bid. Started at $80, $5 increment thru the free zones. Via the Upper Right PRICELINE link.
  3. First bid $85 was answered with a request to raise the bid up to $100. Ignored and closed the Browser, rebid $92 for CDG + Orly was accepted The hotel is Sheraton, $107 with taxes. Hotwire also listed a 4* (4 amenities - Fitness, Restaurant, WorkOffice, Internet) at $95 for Saturday. another 4* (7 amenities - incl swimming pool, spa, tennis..) at $119 for Thus-Fri nights.
  4. Yesterday, after 2~3 biddings of Paris Hotels(mainly zone 12- Gare de Lyon) for the week of Sept 13, I encountered first time that PRICELINE stopped the bidding process and turned me over to the city-wide listings of hotels offerings. Just wondering whether it was because of the very limited PL hotel availability in zone 12 (Gare de Lyon) - there probably were only 1 or 2 hotels in the zone for each * level and for each * level, I started at 55% of the PL median price. Later, I got PRICELINE eMail asking me to check the Status of bidding. That as well turned me over to the same city-wide of hotel listings.
  5. 1. Bidding $$$ Range: The other recent post mentioned receiving a counter offer of $140 <#8 - http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...mp;p=370643>. After a few practicing rounds, I will most likely have to raise to that level or higher. Or, if needs to be, going down to 2/3 level in order to keep in the budget. 2. That week (Mon-Sat) is my complete stay of Paris before moving down to Burgundy for another week. 3. C$: Some meta search sites(hotel; train; car rental) would use only one currency and others would remember my home country and not so easy (or I have not found switch yet) to change to the other preferred reporting currency. I will try to use US$ as much as I can. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
  6. How high would you suggest? Also wondering what impacts it maybe for 3 room for the week (Mon-Sat) for the time of the year?
  7. Started on bidding (Paris 09/13~18 3 Rooms; 4* No Free-rebid zones) based on the suggested scheme in this Priceline Bidding Strategy Went through the list from $85 to $105; Not Successful; No Counter Offer etc. I checked Marriott Rive Gauche for $ and availability: Spotty inventory (1 or 2days) for cheaper rooms (C$261~$300) for 3room 5 days : only Executive Room-Best Available Rate (C$436)
  8. "The least expensive 4* or better in any of these zones is acceptable?" Yes. I guess winning in any of the 4 zones would work for me, esp in the range of $80~100 (not much higher) for 3 rooms for a mid Sept week. Please alert me if I need to follow a particular sequence of adding zones in re-bidding. Thanks.
  9. Just wondering without any free-4*-re-bid zones, how did you rebid from $90 to $115 trying to get a hotel in the Germain-Latin Q?
  10. I just read the below: #6 - Pricline Bidding Strategy Paris-15/08/09 for 3 nights Priceline Paris Bidding Strategy I guess that I can scheme my bidding sequence based on it, but without any Free-Bidding Zone. Would appreciate comments/suggestions on building the bidding sequences.
  11. Would be pleased to win a bid (4* Paris Mid Sept) close to the one posted a few days ago (Novotel Effiel $80) for my week of Sept 13~18, but not sure how to proceed with no fee-bid zones for 4* Paris. I need 3 rooms for 6 adults and we are quite flexible in where we stay. From my 2005 experience of Paris, of the current Priceline map, I probably would prefer and try to bid progressively of the below: 3 Champs Elysees - Opera Quarter West 4 Eiffel Tower - Port De Versailles - Montparnasse 6 Opera Quarter East - Les Halles 7 St. Germain - Latin Quarter - Montparnasse ------------------------------------------------------------- Until I did some further research/reading, I am not sure what would be a good start $, and how to add zone/$ etc. Just wondering whether there is a bidding strategy covering places like Paris. A while ago, I followed one posted that worked out great for Vancouver (with 3-4 free bid zones) http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry333439 but I now need one with no free-bid zones. Thanks.
  12. Not sure about the forum's rules on this subject, but Have been using Priceline.com for some time, yet never known its stock (PCLN-Q). Anyway, Nasdaq report posted it the Laggard Stock of the Month of May, 2010. The stock Priceline.com (PCLN Nasdaq-$185 US ) has lost 32% from its 52Wk/Historic Hi $270 May 3, 2010; 2010 YTD -12% (its 52 Wk Lo $102, Jly 3, 2009) , (if I bought it back then,...): PCLN was a $20 stock back in Oct, 2005 then rose to $143 May 2008 then crashed to $45 Oct, 2008
  13. A few weeks ago, one 4* Vancouver Hotwire hotel offered the Room/Bed Option. After selecting the hotel, the next page led to Room/Bed option (see "Extra $$ for Bed Choice" in this Forum, especially of the thereuare's strategy Post #6). But since, my occasional same HOTWIRE search has not turned up any Room Choice option yet. Hotwire Bed Choice Option Hope this helps.
  14. Call PL Customer Service Line to see whether they could help you out. For the Victoria Wknd Saturday-May 22, I was trying to book a last minute Banff/Canmore hotel Friday midnight; the first round for 4* hotel was rejected; In the rebidding for 3*, I did not check carefully that the dates were somehow switched to my intended July Vancouver Wknd (still on going) and that my bid was accepted. I noted the error after receiving the PL confirmation eMail. I followed up the PL customer service to see what could be done. After the review, the representative cancelled the wrong booking; As I understand, they would refund me the payment minus a $25 fee after a new PL booking with a subsequent refund request. PL Customer Service 1-800-657-9168 Good Luck.
  15. This Vancouver specific 4* Downtown/Granville Strategy requires the browser to be closed at the indicated stage to continue. From the betterbidding page, find the top right corner PRICELINE click box, fill in the Dates, City info before accessing/starting PL NYOP. For each day's proceeding, you have the choice of A+ B + C; A+C; B+C; C ( in the shown order; once C is done, PL would only allow you to do A or B after a 24-hrs stay) A. Start with Downtown Only, @ $XX (your own comfortable level after reading the recent Postings; updated hotels meta search results) if rejected, add one free-bidding at one time, rebid with a new $$ ... (at end of the five free rebidding) Unsuccessful, Close the Browser return to the Betterbidding.com main page, click PRICELINE search button to restart again B. Start with Graville Only @ $XX if rejected, add one free-bidding at one time, rebid with a new $$ ... (at end of the five free rebidding) Unsuccessful, Close the Browser return to the Betterbidding.com main page, click PRICELINE search button to restart again C. Start with both Downtown and Graville at a $$ level higher than the last bid $$ in A/B if rejected, add one free-bidding at one time, rebid with a new $$ ... (at end of the five free rebidding) Unsuccessful, close the browser Wait for 24 hrs, to Repeat the Process. --------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- After a few days of trying, PL may award you with some bonus money (4*/5* ; 3 nights) to keep you going. Also, you may also receive a hint/message in the middle of bidding to pony up about $$(15~20 dollars for the current situation) to facilitate the bidding. It signals the end of tunnel soon; but if you decide to continue NYOP, you then need to check and deploy effectively the remaining free rebidding zones with the new bidding amount etc. Some of the threads in this forum illustrate the various circumstances/results. For June 8 bidding, think that you should see some result soon. Good Luck.
  16. Thanks for the bed/room explanation. Now how about any sure way to get a "No Smoking" room at hotels that do not show that amenity icon.
  17. Vancouver Airport has 4* hotel; Not a free re-bid zone for Downtown / Granville 4* purpose. Not including the greyed-out Delta, the rest 5 are your free re-bidding zones for 4* hotels : City hall, Coquiam-Burnby, Surrey-Pit Meadows, North Vancouver, Langley You may also want to refer the Vancouver specific (4* Downtown/Granville) bidding strategy in the below thread by Thereusare. Post #4 - http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...st&p=333439 Use PRICELINE link to access Priceline.com to begin your bidding.
  18. Thanks. I would like ver much to learn your method to avoid the "one double bed" situation, even better at a lower price? not sure what do you mean for "room configuration"? Last week I was surprised to learn at a Lady's thread in the Priceline-San Francisco Forum, mentioning without paying for upgrading, at some SF PL hotels, that she would have to suffer sharing a DL with her starfish husband. Now I know what she meant.
  19. Done the requests (msgs, HOTWIRE link): Offerings for the hotel of the same amenities/Bed Choice are (Sunday AM): $126 ($3 Cheaper) $199 King Bed $199 2-Double Beds ==================
  20. Was conducting a HOTWIRE Search Sat early evening on : "Vancouver, Canada; 07/23/10 ~07/25/10" This $129 4 * Downtown Vancouver West area Hotel has a Bed Choices icon heading the queue of 7 amenities: Smoking Free; Fitness; Swimming Pool; Restaurant; Business Centre; Internet; Tennis; Spa Clicking the Continue button, the next page shows the choices of : $129 $199 for 1 King Bed $199 for 2 double Beds Wondering whether $129 would then get 1 double bed for 2 Adults? The 7 amenities would seem to ID this hotel to be Westin Bayshore; if is so, the hotel Web site charges Room $CAD 278.10 + taxes/charges => CAD 323.99 /night Is it that HOTWIRE / PRICELINE customers are normally only getting 1 double bed at this hotel? any past users feedback confirming this?
  21. Wow!!! HW just now is posting an Embarcadero area Hotel with the same 4 amenities as Hyatt for $129 for the same May 22~23 Wknd. Is it frequently possible that you get this similar $54 difference (129-75) deal on PL? This makes me to re-consider the starting bid$ on my next PL round.
  22. 4* Vancouver (Granville Entertainment District) Sheraton Wall Centre, $105, 07/22~07/24 2 nights Raising the bid to $104 finally made it accepted after declining a hotel/PL counteroffer of adding $22 to the earlier offer which would make it to $114. Was greatly encouraged by the recent reports here and elsewhere of similar successful biddings of 4* Vancouver Hotel for this time span, which according to my research, will have about 6+ cruises coming/going in the week. Perhaps, the drop of Cad$ vs US$ (5~6%) last week may also have an influence of the price acceptance level? PL Deal works to $105 US+ 21% taxes/fees => $126 US x 1.065= $134.19 CAD/night Hotel web site quotes $224 Cad + 16.5% Taxes/Fees = $260.96 CAD/night Excellent Deal!!! Looking forward to re-visiting the Hotel.
  23. Where to find the Big Convention Info before hand to work out some lower cost bidding strategy?
  24. A clean and well kept/serviced property. It is tucked inside an Office Park Subdivision and not visible (no sign) from Highway 237/Caribbean Street; without GPS, a street map is suggested. Comparing to only a few cars noted on Sunday night, the hotel's Parking lot was almost full Monday night, guess that patrons are most traveling consultants working in the area.
