  1. I'm ready to book today, and undecided between these two.

    Sept 8-18

First is a 5* deal on pricelline for usd305, choice of 3 hotels, probably get Trump

    5% off with BB code

    Second is a Hotwire deal

    4.5* mag mile/water tower for usd182

    Amenities

Fitness centerGolf nearbyIndoor pool(s)Internet accessPet friendlyPool(s)Restaurant(s)Smoke-free rooms

    Accessibility

The golf nearby is throwing me, as I cannot see this on hotel descriptions.

    Any idea?

    Thankyou

It says the last person got the Sofitel, but I find that very strange as the Sofitel doesn't have an indoor pool!?

Last time we stayed at Londonhouse, which we loved, but it is too pricy this trip

  2. Thankyou so much, very informative.

The Londonhouse I'm not sure about; I'm not a lover of Hilton hotels

The Godfrey, now that bar sure is a downside, and 10 nights, mmmm

The W, well I quite like SPG hotels but note what you say about location.

Should I hold off and see what else comes up, as I know the offers change?

Or perhaps have another look at PRICELINE.....

  3. I note you are familiar with Chicago.

This is my first visit to the city, so would appreciate any help.

    I am ready to book.

    Dates are July 25th - August 4th

I have read as much as I can but unsure exactly which area would suit.

We are not young, but can walk for miles, and love eating and drinking.

    A walkable area.

Would like to keep the cost to under 2000 usd.

Reading all the reviews I think I would prefer to go for 4.5 star.

Hotwire appears to be cheaper than Priceline.

What is jumping out at me at the moment is

River North 4.5 which will be The James/Godfrey/Palomar/Conrad

    All seem decent @160

    or

    Mag Mile/Water Tower 4.5  guaranteed chain hotel @ 169

Am I looking at the right areas?

    Expert advice gratefully accepted

  4. I did find on checking in we would get the worst rooms in the hotel through Hotwire!

First we got an adjoining room which we refused so we then got a room next to the icemachine, cleaner's closet and cleaner's lifts, which made our room vibrate day and night!

Apparently this is all we deserved for booking through Hotwire.

Never had that problem with the Westin Oaks and won it many times.

  5. My first ever Hotwire disappointment.

We paid for 4 nights here but could not even stay for one.

What a dump, it is like a cheap motel.

Our reservation quite clearly states under "rooms"    "safes".

There is no room safe and it is an extremely unsafe hotel to stay in.

Metal strips are being put on the doors to prevent further breakins and we were told quite clearly not to leave a room key in room as it could be used to steal our car.

And this was something we had to pay for as an extra!

There is no security here at all. And if "people" know there are no room safes well.......

As we were travelling and shopping we could not take the chance of leaving our stuff in this horrible smelly room.

I have never been in such a hovel in my lifetime of travelling.

Please be very careful of taking a chance on this hotel!

  6. i usually go for the 4 star but none were available due to the start of OTC . i should have booked in December when I booked the other dates but I thought I would leave it until i got back from holiday. I live and learn. Even the Memphis ones I looked at then have gone up in price so I will be booking that very soon, probably this weekend. Nola I am still undecided what to go for. Will update my threads as soon as.

  7. Price

    86$ without tax

A decent price I think for the time of year and area

I used HOTWIRE link and there was a coupon for 20$ off my stay

FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

I guessed it would be this hotel or possibly the Sheraton suites
