  1. Got this on the first try. Hotel website shows a minimum price of 125 Euros a night. At the current exchange rate, I'm paying about 52 Euros a night all in, so a very nice saving! Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night US$5.00 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night US$60.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: US$180.00 Taxes & Fees: US$25.26 Total Charged to Card: US$205.26 Offered the option to extend the stay as well. Used BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
  2. Just won this on PRICELINE. Had been bidding really low for 5* hotels wih no luck, so decided to have one last try at City Center 4*, since I already had a good backup a bit outside of Innere Stadt. Got this on my first 4* try. Wish I'd bid a bit lower. People on here seem to primarily use PL for 5* hotels in Vienna, so a bit hard to know where to begin bidding for a 4*. It's a bit further out than I wanted (well, further east), but still central, and looks like it's got some character, unlike most of the Accor hotels I've been to. FYI, it's about a block within the Innere Stadt border on PL maps. Lowest price on Accor site was 99 EUR advance purchase, which is about 130 USD. Signed up for Accor A-club, so maybe I can wangle a better room if they aren't full. Fingers crossed! Room Cost (avg. per room, per night):$72.00 (USD) Number of Rooms:1 Number of Guests Per Room:2 Number of Nights:2 Room Subtotal:$144.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees:$25.60 (USD) Total Room Cost:$169.60 (USD) Used BetterBidding PRICELINE link of course.
  3. Haven't yet seen this hotel reported to the board for Hotwire. I specifically wanted this one because quite a few friends will be here for a group event on these dates. I was 99.9 sure this was the correct hotel because I've stayed here before, as well as the Sheraton Suites PHL (the other all-suites Philly airport hotel reported here for Hotwire) so I'm quite familiar with the amenities offered by both hotels. The only other hotel in the general area that could have been a match was a newish hotel and outside of the Hotwire map boundary line for the Philly airport zone, so if they gave it to me by some chance, I planned to contest it. $91 a night plus tax and fees for 2 nights came to $220 all in- well below the rate the hotel had advertised for those dates, which was $289 a night, and Hotwire's rate was also somewhat below the event group rate I had access to. Amenities reported: Airport Shuttle, Suite, Fitness Center, Business Center, Pool, Restaurant, Complimentary Breakfast, Kitchenette. TripAdvisor review rating 3.5, Hotwire customer rating 95%. However when I looked again, the same hotel shows up in the Hotwire list with "no ratings gathered yet" So I would not go by Hotwire customer reviews to identify this hotel. Oddly enough, when I searched for only one of the nights, this hotel did not appear in the list. It only showed when I put both nights. I'm pretty sure I used your link to purchase- had a couple search windows open so it's possible I used a different one, but I know I clicked thru from here to research it.
  4. Won this on the 2nd night of trying. First night- was trying from $28 up to $40 based on some recent reported wins on here, but not even a counteroffer. Tonight put $45 4* Central then $ 45 4* West-Neuss then $42 3* Central and won on $42 3* West-Neuss. Was hoping for a few $ cheaper- the really, REALLY good deals reported here for this hotel seem to be either way in advance for the summer, or quite close to the last minute. Oh well. Best price on Marriott's own site was $101 including tax, etc, and this came to $52 all in. Can't complain. For the European folks, this translates to a Marriott brand hotel for the price of Etap or Formule1. Or Travelodge for the Brits. Used Betterbidding PRICELINE link for all my bids.
  5. Won this for 2 nights, total with taxes and fees came to about $220. I won't go into all the details, because this was my 2nd day of bidding and I was following quite a complex strategy, but I was thinking this hotel might come up at around $100-120 due to recently reported wins. I had a hint at availability when I added St. Germain/LQ/Mont to another zone and I was given a counteroffer of $113 for a bid at $88. Continued increasing by $2-$3 increments- was counteroffered again at a bid of $96, and won at $98. I think this is just about the minimum that a 4* can be in Paris for the spring season. Quite happy because the lowest rate available on the hotel's site for my dates is 160 Euros ($224) a night. Priceline offered a stay extension at the same rate as well. which I didn't need. Had really been trying for Champs Elysees/OQW or Les Halles/OQE but those zones are very pricey- recent reported bids were well above where I was willing to go, since I had some backups of decently reviewed 1* and 2* hotels between 70 and 80 Euros a night. No worries- this hotel has good transport links. Many thanks to Betterbidding- this site's been great, hubby and I have a 4* Paris trip for the price of a 2*! And yes, for every bid and rebid I used the PRICELINE link here.
  6. Well, for your dates on HOTWIRE, there is a 3* Kensington/Earl's Court one for $89 a night, includes breakfast so quite likely to be a Holiday Inn Express, with availability for 3 rooms. I think with PRICELINE, it can be tougher to find multiple rooms because the hotels sometimes only give PL 1 or 2 rooms per night. Al least that's what some people have told me...I don't have any personal experience of booking multiple rooms.
  7. I've never tried getting a room for 4, (or travel anywhere with kids for that matter) at European hotels, but I helped my mom and 2 female friends book a room for 3 in Venice at a 1-star hotel, and did the same for them at a small hotel in Sorrento. In my experience, many of the more basic European hotels, which get more backpacker groups than the pricier ones do, offer rooms for 3 or 4 people. The smaller ones, however, often only have a couple rooms like this available, so it's important to book well in advance. In the UK and Spain, the Travelodge chain usually has family rooms with one double bed and one sofabed. They can be really cheap if you book 21 days in advance- www.travelodge.co.uk . Rooms are basic but clean and perfectly serviceable. I've stayed in about 8-10 different UK Travelodges. It's a different chain from the US Travelodge. On the 4 star level, I noticed that at least a few of the Marriotts in London have rooms with 1 King bed, 2 doubles, or King plus sofabed.
  8. Originally had hoped for Westminster, didn't want to go over $125 including tax and fees since I had a few alternate options at about $125-130 if none of my bids were successful. I didn't want to go below 4 stars, and I was open to a few other areas of Central London besides Westminster. Won this for next weekend using the following strategy: Bid $88 Westminster only- bid rejected. Bid $89 added City/London Bridge Bid $90 added Mayfair/Soho Bid $91 added Bloomsbury/Marble Arch Bid $93 added Hammersmith as free rebid zone, and that worked. Total $119 w/ tax and fees. This Marriott's got some mixed reviews but at least there's no chance of winding up in a room with one double bed as opposed to a king or queen, as so often happens in London hotels. And yes, I clicked through to PRICELINE (and HOTWIRE for research) from links on here.
  9. Hello. First post and first time using Priceline for a hotel- I'd used it for a flight before, but never hotels. I read the rebid tips and made use of them. And I used your PRICELINE links for searches and the purchase! Thanks for a really useful site! 1st try (to test the water) 4* at $52, Downtown Philly. No luck. 2nd try added 3.5 star, didn't add an area, still no luck. 3rd try added 3* and dropped bid to $47 (thinking I might get the Hilton Garden Inn which someone recently won for $45) Still nada. 4th try- closed PL and reopened (restarted process) so it would let me drop the 3* . Put in $57 as I'd seen the Sheraton on here at a similar rate. It told me I was trying to make a duplicate bid (which I was) and asked me to change something. Added one of the other zones which only had hotels up to 2.5 star. This time it worked! Total w/taxes and fees about $72. Not bad since the lowest price on Kayak was $172.
