  1. Hotwire is showing some Fountain Hills - Fort McDowell hotels for the above dates. I didn't say ANY hotel in that area in the pinned list. The first is a 4* with Resort Casino Fit Pool Rest Business HSI and Golf The second is a 3* Fitness Pool Business Laundry and HSI 95% recommended $49 What I really am looking for is an alternative to staying at the Marriot Dessert Ridge for $200 + tax on these dates. I would like to rent a car and drive and with any luck be within 10 miles. I see a number of N Scottsdale options, but not sure about these Fountain Hills properties. Opps. I meant to post this in the A states thread. I had 2 windows open and used the wrong one. Please move or I can repost there.
  2. NOTE: This is not a duplicate Post. My friend (who is not a member here) used www.betterbidding.com and entered the exact same dates, minutes after I did, and got the exact same hotel but for $72, not the $69 I had just booked. The other difference is that she was not logged in as a HOTWIRE Member. Hyatt Regency Atlanta HotelAddress: 265 Peachtree Street NE, HotelCityStateZip: Atlanta, GA, 30303 HotelPhone: (404) 577-1234 Exercise, Pool, Rest, Business, Internet 4-star hotel in Downtown Atlanta Area This hotel features the following amenities:
  3. Here is what happened: I booked my Hotwire Trip by starting at www.betterbidding.com and entering my dates. My PC has a cookie installed for Hotwire so it recognized my account. I booked the Hyatt Downtown Atlanta for 10/6/2009-10/7/2009 for $69. My friend then went to www.betterbidding.com and entering the same date dates. Hotwire quoted $72. She booked her room and confirmed it was the Hyatt as well. I forgot to write down the amenities so I went back to Hotwire and searched the dates again--still logged in--and was quoted $69 again. The only thing we did differently is that I booked while logged into hotwire but she booked as a 'guest'. Has anyone seen this before? Is there some other explaination?
  4. As others have requested, it would be great if posters would be specific about the exact hotels they have used that hit them up for a resort fee.

  6. A further consideration for using a debt card for car rental or for even for your 'incidentals' (phone, mini-bar, movies) on your hotel room booked and paid for via Priceline or Hotwire is this: Hotels and Car Rental Agencies routinely place an 'Authorization' for ~$200 (or as much as $500) on your card to ensure they can charge you if needed. The 'Authorization' reserves a portion of your available credit. When you check out and you didn't eat your way through the minibar, the $200 authorization is removed and the ~$200 of available credit is returned to your account---almost like a purchase and a return. For some reason, at some banks, it can take a full billing cycle for the funds held for the authorization to become available for you to using in your bank account if you used your debit card for the 'authorization'. This means that you can't spend that $200 for as long as 30 days after you returned your rental car or checked out of the hotel. Over the course of a vacation, you could end up freezing $1000 or more--without realizing it--that you may need during your trip. Bottomline: Try to always use a credit card, not a debit card for hotel and car rental transactions.
  7. Help needed with a possible ID of the abbove property. 3-star hotel in Museum Campus - McCormick Place - Soldier Field, Oct 9-11, $82 Boutique, Laudry, Fitness, N-S, Bus, Internet I didn't see any 3 star hotels in the pinned list for this area.
  8. I used that very handy HOTWIRE link above and got the Hyatt at a very attractive price. WFIW, the Marriott across the street wanted $170-which was a discounted conference rate. Details: 3.5* Hyatt Regency Customer Favorite Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business
  9. It's a bit early to get a steal of a deal but we are very happy with this one. 1 week ago, the best rate we found was $149 on Hotwire and $199 on Easy Click for 4* or better. My last time in New Orleans was a per-katrina visit. I remember this hotel and I walked through the lobby and loved it. It's Charming. Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access As often mentioned on this site---it helps to play with your dates. When looking on Easy Click, we found that your orginal arrival date (11/11) was 4 times more per night than the rest of our stay. With this in mind, we plan to book a B&B (any suggestions--we have a few in mind with good rates and availability) for the first night and then transfer to Le Pavillon Hotel once all the American Heart Association folks leave town.
  10. You might try using EasyClickTravel (link above) and look for the 4 star Whitehall Hotel. It doen't have a pool, but is very close to AG. White some time comes up at one price AND as an Off the Record Hotel at a much lower price. The Reverse EasyClickTravel Link will help you find the name of hte OTR hotels. There are many other hotels close to AG--Look for River North/Mag. Mile/Water Tower.
  11. I didn't see any 3 Star hotels in the pinned list for Downtown Las Vegas.
  12. Here is the list for the Hyatt Grand Cypress: Lake Buena Vista - Downtown Disney Hotel This Hotel features the following amenities: Resort Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Children's Activity Program
  13. There are many advantages to staying 'on property' when visiting WDW on Orlando FL. However, it's hard a great deal and their bargin hotels (Pop Century and All Star) are very small, very crowded and can sap all the fun out of your vacation. The premium properties offer great access to the part and top tier service and facilities, but can cost an arm and a leg. The BEST way to get a great room at a great Disney property is to RENT points from a Disney Vacation Club member. The key to renting points is avoiding the days and weeks when it takes alot of point to book a room. It sounds tricky but it is not. Here is an example: Room: 1 Bedroom with Full Kitchen (stove, frig, dishwasher, microware, dishes, pots and pan) and washer and dryer Dates: Off Peak 6 Nights Sunday to Saturday (9/9-9/15) Current Cost: $2497 With Promotional Discount: $1687.50 Renting Points: ~$1200 The cost works out to be about $10-$12 per point. studio: 8 points Sunday-Thursday, 20 points Fri-Sat 1 BR: 16 points Sunday-Thursday, 40 points Fri-Sat To save even more, RENT points to stay Sun-Thu, and use www.savingsbarn.com to get a deal via priceline or the board's HOTWIRE link for Friday and Saturday nights.
  14. I heard a rumor that it's hard to drop off a car after 6pm at the hotel locations. Here is a recent converstation I had: Me: Do you have any off airport locations near downtown disney? Budget: we have an off site location a "Walt Disney World Resort" Me: Is that at one of the hotels? Budget: Yes. Me: What is the name of the hotel? Budget: The "Walt Disney World Resort" Me: [laughing] What is the address for that location? Budget: The "Walt Disney World Resort" hotel is at 2305 Hotel Plaza Blvd. Me: [Google 2305 Hotel Plaza Blvd and confirm it is the Doubletree Hotel] What are the hours? Budget: 8am to 6pm Me: do they offer late drop off or do I have to return the car the next day if I am not back by 6pm. Budget: They don't have late drop off. Has anyone had any experience with this?
  15. I just got the Hyatt Grand Cypress so I am guessing that's what is showing at LBV/Downtown Disney. IMHO, that is a MUCH better location and hotel than the Omni but it just depends on what you like and are looking for. Thereuare: Do you want to ADD the Hyatt Grand Cypress to the non-vacation package list for Orlando LBV?
  16. A few days ago, from www.savingbarn.com, I was able to get via Hotwire, the Hyatt Grand Cypress for $136 for a single day stay on 9/14/7. I didn't write down the ammenities before hand but I think this hotel is still coming up for that date at $143. I believe I was shown: Resort, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Children's Activities, Golf, Business I was expecting to get the Swan or Dolphin, but was delighted to get to the Hyatt as it is reviewed to have the best pool of kids in the area. (We fly out at 4pm that day and just need a place to play for a few hours until we leave for the Airport.) Note: I just used the HOTEL tab in Hotwire. I don't even know what the "VACATION PACKAGE" option is, but I assume it's under Packages. The Hyatt Grand Cypress is NOT listed in the Hotel List but is listed in the VACATION PACKAGE list. Does anyone of a good car rental site for OFF AIRPORT rentals? I want to take a day trip to the beach while at Disney and would like to avoid the cost and time of going back to the airport.
  17. Thanks. I found the multi-destination sections. It worked well.
  18. Great tip. We have kids. Any preference between the Sheraton Safari ~$89 for EasyClickTravel (off the record) and the Radisson?
  19. I have to fly from Kansas City to Orlando, then to Atlanta and back to KC. To make matters trickier, the Mrs. is going to fly with me to Orlando and return directly to KC, plus she is flying for work so her office will expect a competitive fare. The best fares and service between KC and Orlando are on Midwest and SW, however, SW doesn't serve Atlanta and Midwest does, if you fly Orlando to Milwaukee and then connect to Atlanta. I can walk to Atlanta faster than that. So here is my question: Are their any good sites (and ones that support this site) that allow for 3 city itineraries? (My guess is that I will fly SW to Orlando and them fly Delta or Air Tran from Orlando to Atlanta to KC.) Also, any tips for booking a car with a Disney Area pick-up and return to Airport?
  20. Resort Pools Business Center High Speed Internet Fitness Center Restaurant Laundry Facilities Tennis Near-by I didn't see any 3.5 star hotels in the Pinned Hotwire list for Orlando-Main Gate, unless I failed to scrool to the bottom. By the way, that is one long list and hard to navigate. :) Just kidding--be well. :)
  21. Actually there is a Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. The #1 tourist attaction in the state of Kansas is in Kansas City, KS. Listing them on the pinned list of KS hotwire hotels might be helpful for folks traveling to the Kansas Speedway, or people how are looking for a place of relatives to say over the holidays who live on the Kansas side and wouldn't dream of making anyone stay in MO, (such as myself) :)
  22. The Hotels listed below are in Kansas but are listed on the Missouri Hotwire Hotel List thread. Kansas City (Merriam - Lenexa - Olathe) 3* Holiday Inn Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness 2.5* ExtendedStay America Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Kitchenette, Business, Laundry 2* Homestead Suites (in Merriam, KS) Amenities: Kitchenette, Laundry Kansas City (Overland Park) 2* Homestead Overland Park Amenities: Kitchenette, Laundry

  24. I got the Hyatt for the above dates at $118. Here is what was listed: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services Customer Favorite! Thanks for the SavingsBarn link!
