  1. My guess is that they fixed the "25% problem" promptly after they have wind of it.
  2. So far no luck for any part of my Southwestern road trip, which begins here. I'll try $45 soon... :)
  3. $75 didn't do it either. I won't go beyond $80. We may just have to stick with our original reservation...
  4. You're right. $100 didn't cut it. By the way, I didn't use Henderson as a free rebid zone because I wasn't sure if a 4* might be upgraded to a resort. Is a zone with no 4* but with a resort still a free rebid zone?
  5. It sure is! :) I'm learning all kinds of things while preparing for this grand Southwest road trip! Unfortuantely, I only started posting on this site after I booked by refundable non-opaque reservations. I'll know for the next trip, though...
  6. Boy, I really got salivating when I saw rainarrainar get TI for $63 a night :) on 3/25/06. which is a Saturday night. The best deal which seems to be available for that night is $309!! I'm noticing now that most of the 4* -type properties (MGM Grand, NYNY, etc.) are going for $250 a night for the week-end I want (June 2). So the MGM Grand would cost me half a grand :) . Is this because the bid was closer to the date? Right now my cancellable reservation is for the Airport Doubletree at $99 a night. I'm a VIP Gold with Hilton family, so I would theoretically get an upgraded room and free breakfast there (in addition to points), but if I could get a 4* on the strip for under that price, that would be great. We will be driving (finishing our grand tour of the Southwest), so we don't need to be on the strip, but I suppose it could be fun. I"ve also stayed at the Golden Nugget, and love the Fremont Street experience, so I also wouldn't mind staying there if we can get it for $70 or less (current price $110 on a non-priceline deal).
  7. No luck so far at $80. I'll try tomorrow at $85. I'll have to ask my travel partner if we want to go higher. I suppose probably we'll go up to $100 if need be.
  8. The Hilton is going for $179, and the Radisson $169 or $179 depending on the room. Is $85 a reasonable maximum bid?
  9. Well, $65 didn't work. I'll try $75 later. Did I hear a rumor somewhere that one can now bid every 24 hours on Priceline?
  10. I'm considering spending a night in SF on the 14th of this month, but I really don't want to spend $80. I notice that most people only seem to be bidding on the 4* properties, especially in the area I'm interested in (Union Square East). Is there a problem property in the 3* or 2 1/2* categories, or is it that most people who come to SF just want a nicer place?
  11. I now have a cancellable reservation at the Holiday Inn for $132 a night. A nonrefundable rate for those dates is $118. The Quality Inn is going for $189 a night! :) I'm not sure what else might come up. There's a place called the Red Feather Lodge which goes for $98 a night. It's difficult to say what a max bid should be, depending on whether or not Priceline might consider the Red Feather Lodge a possibility for 2*. Is $75 a reasonable max bid at this time? There seems to be plenty of time to do bids... Thanks! :)
  12. I forgot to add that he had tried $100 unsuccessfully.
  13. A neighbor recently advised me he received the Prague Marriott Hotel in the Prague-East zone for 7/12-18 at $105 per night plus $55.36 in taxes and fees for a total of $685.36. The regular rate for that time is 176 Euros or $211 per night!! What a steal! :) The Marriott website says that their regular rooms and their gyms are the largest in Prague. I'm jealous. :)
  14. I didn't know about that trick about getting three rebids with two rebid zones! You learn something new every day. Anyways, I got the Royalton Hotel for $190. I'm very pleased. It's going for upwards of $300 a night on other websites. And, yes, I did use savingsbarn.com. :)
  15. No. If I can't get something for $200 or less in MTW, I'll just book the $255 hotel...
  16. I would like one room for one night in MTW for the night of 12/29 only. The Renaissance is going for $419 that night, the City Club for $255, and the Westin and the Hilton Times Square for $479 each. I guess that our max bid would be $200, since the City Club is available for $255. Thanks! :)
  17. I bid up to $190 without success. (Resort 1/8-11)
  18. I'm looking for a resort for the Kohala/Kamuela area of the Big Island for 1/8/6-1/11/6. The Hilton is going for around $235 at that time.
  19. Got the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel for 1/4/6-1/8/6 for $210/night X 4 Nights + $100 taxes/fees = $940. Listed in Hotwire as a Customer Favorite, 4* Resort, Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa, Children's activities, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Business center. It's a little more than I would usually spend on a hotel, but this really looks like a great place and a fair price for the season, so I'm happy! :)
  20. Very strange! :) The Hapuna Prince became available again today on Hotwire for 1/4-1/8, so I booked it. I'll report that separately on the hotwire forum. I'm still looking for help for a PL bid for 1/8-1/11, though (Kamuela/Kohala area). Thanks! :)
  21. I feel like the world's biggest idiot. What was obviously the Hapuna Prince was available on Hotwire for $205 until a few days ago for my whole stay. Then it became only available for 1/4-1/8 and 1/9-1/11 in the afternoon of 10/22. I waited until the evening to start bidding on PL, and by then the Hapuna Prince was no longer showing up on HW, although it still shows availability on Expedia for 1/4-1/8 and 1/9-1/11. :) So I bid on PL up to $195 for Resort in Kamuela, then $170 for 4*, without success for 1/4-1/8. For its available days, the Hapuna Prince goes for $268. The Hilton is also available starting the 7th at $239 per night. The Marriott prices are absurd (over $300/night at this point). I decided to book a hotel conventionally (although I haven't paid a deposit yet) in Kailua-Kona for 1/4-1/9 (Keahou Beach Resort), and then try for something in Kamuela for the nights of the 9th and 10th. Any ideas what I should do for the 9th and 10th in the Kamuela area? Is it possible that they just pulled PL availability for the week-end?
