  1. Hi All, I am having a bit of trouble booking a half decent rate for April. We are staying in Vegas for 8 nights, begining April 10th. We have spent a fair bit of time researching various hotels etc, and had decided to split our stay between The Cosmopolitan and Aria. We already have a reservation for 4 nights at The Cosmopolitan (4/10 - 4/14), which was booked directly with the hotel for $220 per night, in a Stip View Suite, which we were pleased with. However, booking the Aria seems to be a little more difficult. If I put it 8 nights from April 10th, then I can get a corner suite at a rate of $225 per night, which would be fine! However, if I put in 4 nights from April 14th (Which is what we need!) then the rate jumps to $475 per night!!! Seems ridiculous that the rate more than doubles! I tried contacting reservations at the hotel directly, but they weren't much help and simply said that it is because our arrival date is a Saturday, so that is why the rate is higher, and there is nothing they can do. So really, just after a bit of advice, whether to just chance it with a priceline or hotwire bid? Or whether to wait it out and hope the rate drops?!
  2. Cheers for the help guys.. Have just booked Hotel Palomar for 4 nights through Expedia, got a great deal, and looks like it will work perfectly with our plans. Now...to find a Vegas hotel!
  3. Sorry, my post above isn't too clear. What I meant was I had bid up to $135 on priceline for a 5* hotel in the downtown area (There is only one, which has to be the U.S. Grant)
  4. Actually, after reading through it again I would say that I CAN book through the standard method... 1. Please submit a new Hotel request with the correct information on our website. You can either name your own price, or choose an itinerary where the price and the hotel's name are already displayed prior to purchase. 2. If your new request is accepted, please fill out the Service Request Form and we will respond to you via email within 24 hours. Once we confirm your new accepted request meets the requirements, we will refund the entire amount of your cancellation fee minus the change fee (if applicable). If the guidelines are not met, your cancellation fee cannot be refunded. 3. Please remember that you must correct the incorrect information you entered on your previous request to receive a refund of your cancellation fee minus the change fee. You can raise your offer price on your first request to increase your chances of receiving an accepted request. However, if your first new request is not accepted, you may continue to resubmit as many times as you would like (following the above criteria) until you get an accepted request. I agree with your HOTWIRE comments, however I have been checking daily for 2 weeks now, and for my dates there is only one hotel offered in that area which I believe to be the Hilton Gaslamp, which i'm not keen on, and a 5* which must be the US Grant, however i've bid up to $135 and not been accepted. Thanks
  5. Sorry, I should have made my post clearer. I was disappointed with the location of the hotel more than anything else. I understand that is the price you pay for doing it via this route though! Also, the price I bid (Started at $93, I would not have expected to be offered this hotel, seeing as it is available elsewhere for $60 through a standard booking process!) However....have just been on the phone with customer relations, and have managed to get them to cancel the reservation (minus one night's stay as a fee) which I am happy with. The only thing now, if anyone can clarify this for me, is that the representative has offered to refund the cancellation fee if I re-book with them again for the same stay (minus a $25 admin fee) Does anyone know if I can book via PRICELINE for a named hotel at standard rate, and still receive the refund of my one night's stay cancellation fee? Or do I have to use name your own price again? The e-mail doesn't make it too clear Obviously I don't want to try name your own price again as I could end up with the same problem again! Thanks,
  6. Just won the above via Priceline, must say I am very disappointed which what I have been given here!

  16. Following on from my other Priceline hotel thread (Giving Santa Barbara a miss, going to San Diego instead) I now need some advice before bidding for San Diego. I plan to stay 4 nights here, from April 6th - April 10th From researching I believe either Downtown and Harbor Island or possibly Coronado (Unless anyone could advise otherwise? First timers here) suits us best. Can anyone please advise a strategy for bidding? Thanks in advance,
  17. Following on from my other Priceline San Francisco thread. I now need some advice before bidding for LA. I plan to stay 5 nights here, from April 1st - April 6th From researching I believe either Beverly Hills - West Hollywood or Hollywood (Unless anyone could advise otherwise? First timers to LA) suits us best. Can anyone please advise a strategy for bidding? Thanks in advance,
  18. Hi All, I have used this site before to plan a trip around USA, about 18 months ago and it was very useful, booking hotels in NY, D.C., Chicago (Using Priceline, never tried hotwire) I am visiting the west coast at the end of March for just over 3 weeks, and was hoping to get some help/advice/strategies on bidding! My plans are: San Francisco - March 27th (5 Nights) LA - (5 Nights) Santa Barbara - (4 Nights) Las Vegas - (6 Nights) Looking to be in Santa Barbara from April 6th for 4 nights (poss 5) then driving on to Vegas. (Quick question...who would recommend flying (short) from LA to Santa Barbara, opposed to driving?) With regards to Santa Barbara, looking to spend up to $130 per night (less if possible!) for a minimum of 4*. Would like to stay close the beach/sea area. Never been here before so not sure on any better location? Is it wise to just book through Expedia etc, as there seems to be very little mentioned on here for it! Thanks in advance for any help!
  19. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have clicked the link also. I would be happy with USE and USW, and probably fishermans wharf also? I will start up a separate thread for Santa Barbara and the others. Thanks.

  21. Well played around on the site for ages, and finally got a bid accepted!! $235...Washington D.C. Dupont Circle Area, Marriott Wardman Park 3.5* Any thoughts?
  22. I've tried up to $200 and got no-where as expected! I'm really uneducated when it comes to D.C., so can anyone recommend a good area to stay where we could easily catch a metro etc into the downtown area? Thanks
  23. Thanks, will give it a go later. Would convention center be the best location for what I want to do? Also, any reason why these dates are so expensive? Thanks
  24. Yes, they would all be fine. Which one would you most recommend to do the touristy type things? And any guidance on prices to begin bidding? %
