  1. Amenities: Hotel Amenities Free Internet In Room Free Parking Free Breakfast Pets Allowed Indoor Swimming Pool Airport Shuttle No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Fitness Center Handicapped Rooms/Facilities Business Center Free Internet In Public Areas Free Internet Access Swimming Pool Was the cheapest deal I could get for the dates and despite the hotel being 2.5*, it's a 9+ rating, so hoping it's decent for the couple days.
  2. Saw two Buffalo Airport (BUF) hotels going for $60 and $63 in different Airport Zones (Williamsville vs. Cheektowaga). The $60 deal had a note saying I've stayed there before, which would be the Salvatore Garden, with 8+ rating. I took a chance with the $63 hotel that had a 9+ rating and it turned out to be the Aloft Buffalo Airport Hotel. The amenities are listed below. Free Internet Free Parking Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Non Smoking Pets Allowed Swimming Pool I used a 10% off coupon that I got in my email recently, but I did click on the PRICELINE link.
  3. Saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $67 CAD for a 3* in the Niagara Falls, NY (Buffalo) zone. Wingate by Wyndham was currently $73 as the visible listing price. I started bidding at $62 CAD, added the one re-bid zone, then took a risk and added another zone of an area where I didn't mind the hotels in that area (I had a feeling I would get Wingate by Wyndham, but you never know!). I ended up winning at $64 CAD/night. I figured this isn't bad for a fairly new hotel (I read it opened in 2015?) with free parking, internet, and breakfast! Clicked the PRICELINE links!
  4. Saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $88/night. I started bidding at $70 and worked my way up. Took a few tries, but eventually got Le Meridien Versailles at $85/night. Clicked on the board PRICELINE links!
  5. Missed out on a $98USD/night 4* deal last week in the same zone. This $140CAD/night win according to the website equates to about $112USD/night... not a horrible price increase for what seems to be a horrendously busy weekend...
  6. Second hotel for my split 5-night stay in Honolulu, Oahu. I got Hotel Renew in Waikiki Beach - Kuhio Beach. I was aware there's a pretty steep resort fee that came with this one, but the hotel had better ratings, looks much more updated, and at least came with what seems like a full breakfast. Ultimately, it was still cheaper than most other similarly rated hotels in Waikiki. I got the hotel for $168CAD/night while it was listed at $234CAD/night. So a decent deal, despite resort fees! Amenities: Free Internet Bed Choice Non Smoking Pets Allowed Very Good: 8+ 50 verified guest reviews P.S. I used the Better Bidding 5% coupon and clicked through the PRICELINE links! :)
  7. Decided to book a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal while the current coupon was still valid. I decided to split my 5 nights in Honolulu, Oahu between 2 hotels, the first a bit cheaper than the second (I'll report on the second one in a separate post). I got The Equus, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member in Waikiki Beach - Ala Moana for the first 3 nights. Got it for $123CAD/night on PRICELINE EXPRESS while it was advertised as $156CAD/night when browsing all hotel listings. Amenities: Free Internet Non Smoking Swimming Pool Good: 7+ 90 verified guest reviews P.S. I used the Better Bidding 5% off coupon and clicked through the board PRICELINE EXPRESS links! :)
  8. After lots of back and forth searching, I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $170 for a 3.5* hotel in the Kahului (OGG) Airport area. The only hotel available through regular searching was the "Courtyard By Marriott Kahului Airport", so I had a feeling this is what I was bidding for. I had an extra discount from a recent PL stay, so I used that on the purchase... Not sure if the original price should be reflected in the reported win, but it was $170 - 15% ($25.50) = $144.50USD/night. When on the confirmation page, the amenities just say: Amenities: No Smoking Rooms/Facilities But on the search window that lists various hotels, this is what the amenities hover-over looks like: Free Internet Bed Choice Airport Shuttle Business Center Fitness Center Non Smoking Restaurant Swimming Pool Overall, pretty pleased with the purchase. Happy that it's a name-brand chain, reasonably priced, centrally-located (it's not beachfront, but beaches are a reasonable drive away since it's so central). Apparently it's a fairly new hotel with Costco right behind it. Parking is $10/night, but there are no listed resort fees and I'm hoping to make use of the airport shuttle and pick up the car rental the following morning (and forgo the first night of parking since I likely will want time to unwind the night before).
  9. I just checked and see it. If it helps, I ran a search using OGG airport and it comes up at $137USD. Is Lahaina still a reasonable distance/convenient location from things to do in Maui? The Kihei accomodations seem to have a higher rating and more reviews, but the Lahaina accomodations price point is more within my budget... Thank you!
  10. I think overall, I'm just a little hesitant about condo-style accomodations as I've read some mixed reviews about people staying in condos that were not as well maintained... but if given a decent, clean condo, I'd be OK with it. Hoping to take advantage of a 10% off coupon I got in my email... I see these Priceline Express deals right now... any ideas? ($96USD/$126CDN) 3.5* Condo - North Ka'anapali - Lahaina (Honokowai) Good (7+) Rating, 40 verified guest reviews Hotel Amenities Free Parking Business Center Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Condo Fitness Center ($136USD/$179CDN) 3* Hotel - Kihei (Kihei) Very Good (8+) Rating, 400 verified guest reviews Hotel Amenities: Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool No Smoking Rooms/Facilities The 3.5* condo is right in the price range that I was hoping for, but the 3* hotel seems like a safe bet... Curious to know your thoughts? Based on the number of reviews I imagine the 3* Hotel is "Aston At The Maui Banyan". I'm having trouble deciphering the 3.5* condo, but is "Kahana Falls Resort" a condo? Thanks in advance!
  11. As requested, here is the separate thread for the second leg of the trip! I'm looking for help booking hotels for a trip to Hawaii that is taking place August 8 - August 18, 2017. Tentatively thinking of breaking the trip up as follows: Maui for Aug 8 - Aug 13. Oahu/Honolulu for Aug 13 - Aug 18. This thread is for the Oahu/Honolulu portion of the trip. The changeover date is currently flexible... I have it split down the middle (5 days and 5 days), but I'm not sure if between the two more days should be spent at one or the other? As a first-timer in Oahu, I imagine there will be enough to do within Honolulu for 5-days that I should just book all my accomodations there? Also, currently looking at Priceline Bidding for a 4*, but is 3* or 3.5* considerably better value/affordable? I know it's not entirely low season (knowing Christmas is high-high season), but prices do seem a little steeper than I was hoping for. Seeing PRICELINE EXPRESS deals for 4* for $250USD-$400USD! Would there be a possibility of getting a 4* for $150USD??? If I go with 3* instead... would I be able to get it down to $120USD and still get a decent hotel (not condo) since I'm seeing $130USD+? Thanks in advance!
  12. To be honest, I don't know too much about Maui, but first preference goes to a hotel rather than a condo accommodation. I would like to stay somewhere rather central/convenient, but being able to stay within budget is important to me. I think I would like to stay in the Kahului/Kihei/Wailea-Makena zones... but if any of the Ka'anapali zones turn up much cheaper, I would consider it (unless it's considered really far away from things to do?) I'm seeing 4* currently going for $250USD+! I think my inital hopes would be unreasonable... Would it be unreasonable to hope for a 3* hotel (not condo) within the $120USD or lower range?
  13. Hello! I'm looking for help booking hotels for a trip to Hawaii that is taking place August 8 - August 18, 2017. I'm currently looking at Maui for Aug 8 - Aug 13. Then probably Oahu/Honolulu for Aug 13 - Aug 18. The changeover date is currently flexible... I have it split down the middle (5 days and 5 days), but I'm not sure if between the two more days should be spent at one or the other? Also, currently looking at Priceline Bidding for a 4*, but is 3* or 3.5* considerably better value/affordable? I know it's not entirely low season (knowing Christmas is high-high season), but prices do seem a little steeper than I was hoping for. Thanks in advance!
  14. I saw a Priceline Express deal for $98 CAD for the date I wanted, so I bidded starting at $70-80CAD, no luck. Then $80-89CAD, no luck. Tried $80-89CAD again and then won on $89CAD. Got "Salvatore's Garden Place Hotel, An Ascend Collection Hotel". Considering a lot of comparable places in the Buffalo/Niagara region that weekend is in the $200-300 range, I'm pretty pleased with the deal, and it comes with free breakfast! :)
  15. Update: I will have to close this thread for now as travel plans regretfully fell through, but will re-open as Chicago is still on the travel bucket list!
  16. Thanks for the feedback so far. Oh my gosh, I see a really strange auto-correct in my original post... not sure what I was originally trying to saying, but trying to weigh my options with bidding vs. using Priceline Express. I'm not sure which zones are more public-transit accessible? Is River North decently accessible? I don't plan to bring a car in, so I would be relying on public transit. Also, this may also be more AaronJB's territory, but if there are any tips for someone who hasn't been to Chicago before, that'd be appreciated! Will continue using links.
  17. I've never been to Chicago before and am not sure what zones to bid for... I saw a 3.5* Express Deal for River North for $49USD... Wondering if I should go with that or colorectal bidding in other areas? Looking for: - 3* or 4* (3* preferred if the price/value is really good... Eg. Above) - Zones in Chicago that are easily accessible for a first-timer - Sun Jan 1/17 to Wed Jan 4/17 - max $80 USD, but hoping much less I've been using the PRICELINE link... Thanks!
  18. Saw a 3* PRICELINE EXPRESS deal (with free breakfast and internet, suspected it was the Best Western Plus as it was the only List View that fit similar amenities) for $110 two days ago, have been bidding up to $95-98-ish with no success. Today, I saw the 3* PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal go down to $107. I tried a couple rounds of PRICELINE bidding with re-bid zones, going up a dollar at a time until I hit $100 CAD / $76 USD and successful. I have clicked through PRICELINE links.
  19. I've been doing a lot of searching and price comparing for 4*/3.5*/3* the past few days... tough weekend to score a deal as it is Thanksgiving Weekend in Canada. I noticed that the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals for 3.5* dropped from $156CAD to $135CAD this morning (it actually told me it was Chateau Versailles as I stayed there previously). Several Name-Your-Own-Price bids later, I got the Chateau Versailles for $127 CAD. The icing on the cake is I got a 10% off Name-Your-Own-Price coupon in my email yesterday too! I've been clicking on the PRICELINE links. Good luck all!
  20. I saw a 3.5* hotel in Montreal Downtown Financial District going for $80CAD/$59USD that included breakfast. I had a feeling that it was the Chateau Versailles. I started at $65CAD and bidded up by $1-2 each attempt and waited 2 hours when I ran out of re-bid zones. I eventually won at $75CAD/$55USD and the hotel was indeed the Chateau Versailles. I've stayed at Le Meridien (sister hotel) across the street a couple times, both before and after their renovations. I see under reviews that the Chateau Versailles is currently undergoing some renovations. I called the hotel to ask and I was told that Le Meridien is actually undergoing heavy 'demolition' renovation as they are completely redoing their lobby right now, but Chateau Versailles at this stage is just redecorating rooms (eg. painting, new furniture) and the work they're doing should not be disruptive. Happy with the win! And of course, PRICELINE links from this site were used during the whole process! :)
  21. Thanks! Sounds really good! I don't have a particular cuisine/price point in mind... But if it helps narrow things down, maybe a few recommendations of good, reasonably priced local favourites? I am definitely willing to travel (subway) around the city to try a good recommendation! (This trip is slowly turning into a food trip... Haha) Do you have a personal favourite (or two) places to eat in New York?
  22. Following up on my previous thread, we must've seen the hotel at the same time because I also saw the $126/night hotel in ESB and just finished bidding on it and won The Gregory as you guessed! I started at about 80% of the PRICELINE EXPRESS price and went up in $3-5 increments until I won it at $117USD/$153CAD. Thank you for all your advice and help! I'm happy with what I ended up with as both itineraries fall below my budget, but the waiting was a little terrifying (my refundable's cancellation expires at 4pm today so it was literally the last day I could settle this). Next time, I think I'm going to jump on an earlier deal instead of waiting... I'm sure next time I may not be so lucky! Last question, I've noticed you gave a few area recommendations for food... Any other suggestions? :) As always, I used the board PRICELINE link to bid!
  23. Just to update, a few hours ago I saw a 4* hotel in PRICELINE EXPRESS going for $108USD for only the second and third night of my itinerary (Aug 13 + Aug 14). After doing a bit of searching, I suspected that it was the Roosevelt and bidded with this in mind. Sure enough, I won the Roosevelt at $106USD ($142CAD)/night. I'm hoping that the hotel will be decent value for the location and price (I've read/heard mixed reviews) especially since my last update, I was ready to go with my refundable 3* reservation in Long Island City for $121/night. Booking all 3 nights together in Manhattan didn't seem possible within my preferred budget, but I'm hoping this alternative will work out since its put me way under budget so far! I just need a room for Wed Aug 12 now... hoping to stick to the original parameters (4*)/budget ($120-140... but could go up a bit considering my savings from nights #2+3). Who knew that hotels would be in such high demand on a Wednesday night?! I was wondering if someone could pitch in their 2-cents for how I could proceed with that booking? P.S. I used the board PRICELINE links for my searches and bid attempts!
  24. I'm looking at HOTWIRE for alternatives... I'm seeing a 3* hotel in "East Village - Lower East Side area hotel" for $129... Amenities: Complimentary Free Internet Amenities Self-service laundry Accessibility Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower Any insights? I noticed nothing is listed on the Hotwire Hotel List for 3* in this zone and the Hotwire page *claims* the last person got "The Hotel 91"... Which doesn't look great. Site links used. Thank you again for your ongoing help!
  25. July 30th update. I've been monitoring prices and making bid attempts... I think my highest bid was just shy of $140 USD, but I've really been trying to get a lower price and no luck so far. I did some searching on Priceline Express (using the links of course) and I saw a 3* hotel in Long Island City going for $119 USD (Amenities: Free Breakfast, Free WiFi, Business Centre, Fitness Centre)... after some digging around on the site I concluded it was likely the "Verve Hotel, An Ascend Collection Long Island City". After checking out comparable 3* hotels in LIC, I made a bid attempt for 3* up to $105-110USD, and then I found a REFUNDABLE reservation directly through the hotel's website for $121.82/night + fees ($429.88 total). The hotel looks like decent value and isn't too far from the subway system and although I can't confirm that it is the Priceline Express hotel for the $119 listing, I think it is likely as it was the cheaper of of two 3* hotels that popped up in my search that provided free breakfast. I am going to continue to search for a hotel in NYC since this reservation is refundable. I've been to NYC before so it's not the end of the world if I end up staying just on the outskirts to save a little bit of $$, but I'm still hoping to secure something within Manhattan for less than my initial budget (doesn't seem super likely at this time). Anyway, there's my update. The search continues! And of course, the PRICELINE.com link from this site was used for all the searching and bidding!
