  1. Glad to help! You've been very helpful in the past. FYI-The Villager in Lincoln no longer exists--it has been torn down.
  2. Is there any chance this is the Sirata? I see on their website they say child activities--I don't want the Sirata; already have a room at the Sandpiper but am thinking of cancelling and doing Hotwire. Just don't want the Sirata. Nice hotel, but not for this particular trip.
  3. Free Parking <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Free Internet <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Laundry Facilities (self-service) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Kitchenette Accommodations include a stovetop or microwave oven, a sink and a mini-refrigerator.
  4. My guess is that the higher stars are associated with the Tradewinds (Island Grand or Sandpiper) and the price would really be what is quoted + $25/night for the resort fee. I am looking for something with a lower price range on the beach. The Sirata charges $8/nt for parking and the cabana rental is now $30/day from private beach vendors.
  5. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help ID a 2.5* hotel on St Pete Beach. It shows beachfront, no smoking, swimming and high-speed internet for $64 Oct 21-24. If you are able to help, I'd be curious how you figure it out so I can be more self-sufficient next time. I've figured out Priceline, but not so good at figuring out Hotwire. Thanks.
  6. First bid at $45, plus tax is $58.42. This is the old Sheraton Miami Mart. Have stayed before and it will be fine.
  7. Actually, I do see golf and child's activities. I've never noticed that the second page changes the icons! Does that help to ID?
  8. I am looking to stay Feb 1-4. The rate comes up at $39. Icons are resort, beachfront, oceanfront, no smoking, weight room, pool, laundry and high speed internet. The only thing I came up with was Litchfield Golf Resort, but I don't think that's it as they also have many other amenities on their website that aren't noted on Hotwire. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
  9. I recommended Hotwire to a friend for car rental since I have been so pleased using it for hotels. (I have never used them for car.) She reported that when she picked up her car (TPA-Hertz), the gas tank was empty. She questioned it and was told that with Hotwire, you aren't guaranteed a full tank of gas when you pick it up, nor do you need to fill it prior to the return. Is this right? Sounds fishy.
  10. 3* Orlando Airport (MCO) ....5/23 for $39; Staying at the Wingate Inn for a total of $51.29.
  11. Amenities include shuttle, fitness, pool, business center and high-speed internet access. Price and inexpensive transportation to/from airport is key.
  12. I am looking for a hotel 5/23 and have noted a 3* on Hotwire for $39. This seems ridiculously low since some of the 2 and 2.5* are much more. I think it is the Wingate, but can't be sure. Not that I have a problem staying there, but wonder if I am better off taking a chance on Priceline for something. I would like to stay in the airport area, hoping that the hotel has a shuttle, or at a minimum, it would be a cheap cab ride. Thoughts? Thanks.
  13. Tried for two rooms: 3* Downtown-$32 added Midtown-$36 added Sand Springs-$40 added Airport-$44 added Southeast Tulsa-$45 added Southern Hills-$46 Accepted. We got 2 rooms for a total of $112.84. Great place to stay. Nice walking trails and a treat to have the cookies on check-in. Internet price was $105 for one room.
  14. Total charge was $67.53. Hotel amenities included: fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center and laundry facilities. Also noted as a Customer Favorite. Price on hotel website was $99.xx w/tax.
  15. After further discussion, it seems staying at the beach is a requirement. Hotwire prices seem high, and I'm not comfortable chancing it on Priceline for this trip. I think we'll probably change locations, and maybe head to Tampa/Clearwater or try another location all together (San Diego). We are looking for something fairly inexpensive, and Ft. Myers doesn't appear to offer that. Thanks for the help. I'll be back...
  16. Ft Myers Beach has a 1*(beach, pool, laundry) for $73; 2*(pool; restaurant, beach, laundry) for $180; 2.5*(beach access, pool) for $64; Sanibel/Captiva has a 3*(beach, pool, golf, tennis, restaurant) for $152 (which I think is the HI at $179 on Orbitz). Any clue what the ones at Ft Myers Beach are?
  17. Yes, we would accept anything within the zone, even if it weren't beach. I prefer Priceline, but you think the difference between Priceline and Hotwire is only $20 or so and we'd be guaranteed on the beach w/Hotwire, then we'd opt for Hotwire.
  18. We would prefer Sanibel/Captiva or Ft Myers Beach. Never having been there, those are our choices. I'm most interested in the shelling. I might be able to be sold on another area, though.
  19. No, not at all. We would like something better for the 3 nights, though, or at least know that it is on the beach, or very close.
  20. I'm planning a trip to the Ft Myers area in May. We get in late Wednesday night, so thought maybe to save some $, we could just stay near the airport, hoping to get a hotel with a shuttle and not have to rent a car until the next morning. I'm wondering, though, if we are better off trying to get 4 nights at the same hotel instead of 3 nights. We'd have 1 night at an airport location, and 3 at either Ft Myers Beach, Sanibel, or Captiva. Any thoughts? Does it make a difference on what kind of a deal we get? Thanks in advance.
  21. I tried several options: 3*-$30 2*-$26 2*-$31 2*-$35 We got 3 rooms at once at a bid of $35 eac for a total of $129.18 ($43.06/each) including fees and taxes. The rate on the internet was $68.85 per room (including taxes).
  22. I tried a couple different strategies, bidding with a friend: First option: Two separate bids, $55 and $60 rejected (last bid rejected 4/12) for 2 1/2 * at the airport. Second option: 3* at the airport with two rebids. Started at $60 and went up to $67 the first time. Started at $70 and went up to $75 the second time. Started at $80 and got accepted the third time, without having to add areas and rebid. We had time to play and other options (award stays), so didn't worry too much. Ended up at $98.54 w/taxes at the Sheraton Inn Providence Airport. Pleased as the going rate for that time is $179 before taxes.
  23. Bid on 4* on strip and added convention center and airport. Started at $100 and won at $135+$21.26=$156.26.
  24. HockeyLA32, I was watching prices on the Venetian and noticed Hotwire had it for over $400 and the Venetian website had it for $469 today. Decided to skip it knowing I didn't get it at $165, it just isn't worth it to me to pay that for a place to sleep. So, I got the Westin for $135 + $21.26 = $156.26. Started bidding at $100 and got offered the "one time option" for $149. Obviously, I didn't take it and kept bidding. Am pleased with the Westin because I love the heavenly beds and showers, I'll get over the minor inconvenience of being off the strip. It still seems pretty accessible to everything. Good luck!
