  1. I have been trying for weeks to get a hotel near the Sports Complex without any success, tried bids up to $55 on 2.5* and 3* bids. I was almost ready to try another area or book from Hotels.com, but finally snagged this property last night. I started my bidding at $38 dollars and with increases of $1 or $2 on the rebids, had success at $50 and never saw any counter offers. The reviews are mixed on this property, but it is within walking distance of Kauffman Stadium where we will be taking in a Royals - White Sox game. The hotel also has a shuttle to the game, we will see how that works out. I doubt if we will make use of the waterpark, as that would cost extra. Not a bad deal for this property, best rate is $82 on hotel website. As always I used the PRICELINE link to PRICELINE shown above :) Holiday Inn Kansas City SE- Waterpark Sports Complex - Independence 9103 East 39th Street Kansas City, Missouri 64133 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Fees: $16.12 Total Charges*: $66.12
  2. Of course, now I understand the permutation bidding. I have been bidding 3* and 2.5* for the Kansas City Stadium area for a few weeks now without success. I have gone up to $55 for both 3* and 2.5* properties. I have a conventional reservation already, but would like to save some money going wit PRICELINE. We will be in Kansas City for a few days and will be taking in a Royals game. I would like to be within walking distance of the ballpark, hopefully I will have some success as the date (June 30th) gets closer.
  3. I'm looking at Hotwire for a hotel in the KC Independence-Sports Complex area, there is a 3* property with these amenities: Fitness center, pool and restaurant. The price is $54 per night (6/30 to 7/1) Could this be the Clarion? Also, there is a 2.5* property ($112) with these amenities: Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business and Laundry. Other than being listed as a "suite" hotel, it is almost a match for the Drury Hotel which is listed here as a 3* property. Any thought on that? Thanks
  4. verkuilb, how did you figure there are 21 rebids on this? I think there is actually only five
  5. I was looking for a cheap overnight stay near the Airport and MOA, I was targeting the Eagan area for an extended stay hotel. My first bid was for $20, I received a counter offer to add $7, which I declined. Started in a new browser window and added the only free re-bid zone (Fridley) bid $21 and received the same counter offer. Declined again, new bid at $22 adding the Mpls. downtown zone, received a third counter offer to add $7, declined that. New bid adding Airport/MOA zone at $24, which was quickly accepted. I knew that from looking at previous winning bids, it would probably take a bid of $24 to get the hotel, but I like to always try for lower. We have stayed at this property before without a problem. Homestead Minneapolis - Airport - Eagan 3015 Denmark Ave Eagan, Minnesota 55121 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $24.00 Subtotal: $24.00 Taxes & Fees: $10.15 Total Charges*: $34.15 Used the PRICELINE link provided here - as always
  6. For a second night in Branson, I decided to save a little and bid on a 2* property. First bid was for $30 in the Branson East zone, that was rejected. I then added the West zone (not a free rebid) but did receive the Grand Oaks hotel for a $32 bid. This hotel is actually a two building complex, one has an indoor pool and the other one has an outdoors pool. The property has generally good reviews and the price was better than half what the major sites were getting. The location is really good from what I have read, right off the Branson strip. Grand Oaks Hotel Complex Branson East 2315 Green Mountain Dr Branson, Missouri 65616 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $32.00 Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.44 Total Charges*: $43.44 As usual I used the PRICELINE link provided here
  7. I was looking to bid for a 3* property for one night in Branson East and saw posts for winning bids at the Radisson, most at $50. Knowing there was one free rebid, I bid at $45 first, was rejected and then added the Branson West zone, bid $50 and won the Radisson as expected. This was not much of a savings compared to the Radisson site where the non-refundable rate is $59.25 for that date :) Radisson Hotel Branson Branson East 120 South Wildwood Drive Branson, Missouri 65616 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.17 Total Charges*: $64.17 As usual I used the PRICELINE link provided here
  8. I was bidding for 2.5* in the St. Louis area, looking to stay south or west of the city. Bid $34 in the St. Louis South zone, rejected added the Fenton-Kikwood zone at $36 and received the Fairfield Inn, which I was happy with. We will be traveling in that direction, so location is nice. Note: This property is listed at 2* on the pinned list Fairfield Inn Fenton Fenton - Kirkwood 1680 Fenton Business Park Crt Fenton, Missouri 63026 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $36.00 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.92 Total Charges*: $48.92 As always used the PRICELINE link provided here
  9. After a few failed bids for 4* in the downtown zone, I starting bidding for 3.5* looking to get a nice property near the Gateway Arch. With failed bids at $38 and $40, I added rebid zones and received the Crowne Plaza. There are mixed reviews on this property, but it is close to the Arch and the views are great. The price can't be beat, compared to $143 on the InterContinental website. It is probably lower because the Cardinals are not playing at home on this Friday night. Crown Plaza Downtown St. Louis 200 North Fourth Street Saint Louis, Missouri 63102 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.97 Total Charges*: $55.97
  10. Received this hotel on my first bid for 2* in Cedar Rapids, which will be a stopover on our way to Missouri for a summer trip. There is only one bidding zone here, but all star levels are available. Went for a 2* as we didn't need anything fancy. Property was renovated in 2009 Howard Johnson Cedar Rapids 616 33rd Avenue SW Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $33.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.31 Total Charges*: $44.31 Used the PRICELINE link as always :)
  11. Forgot to add, as always I used the PRICELINE link provided here at BetterBidding :)
  12. I was bidding in the MSP Eagan zone at 2.5* looking to possibly get the Hampton Inn, but on my first bid at $35 received the Fairfield Inn. This property looks to now to be at a 2.5* rating, that is why I was surprised when it came up. The forum Priceline list still shows the Fairfield at 2*, no matter I'm happy with the results, but might have bid lower to start out. The hotel is in a good location, not far from the Mall of America. We are going to the new Target Field for a Twins game that night and usually take the light rail into Minneapolis from near the MOA and decided not to travel home until the next day. Fairfield Inn And Suites By Marriott Minneapolis St Paul Airport 1330 Northland Drive Mendota Heights, MN 55120 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.77 Total Charges*: $46.77
  13. This bid was for just one night. I starting bidding at $35, added zones and $1 during each rebid and was successful at $41 We have stayed here before and like its location, a nice property. The warm chocolate cookies at check in are always great and I had no problem with getting the two beds I requested (non smoking) I used the PRICELINE link provided here at betterbidding.com
  14. I was contacted by Priceline Customer Service today and will be getting a refund of $43.78 because Homestead could not honor our reservation with them.
  15. A follow up to this booking, we were walked to another hotel (Motel 6 - yuk) when we arrived for this reservation. Seems the hotel let some guests extend their stays, possibly because of the recent flooding in Wisconsin. I was not very happy with the situation, but did not contact Priceline at that time (but have emailed them and Homestead since) regarding this situation. There were other new guests moved to other hotels, several to the Motel 6. Homestead picked up the tab for each guest and said they would refund Priceline, but don't think that will do anything for our inconvience. I'm sure we would have had a nicer room at the Homestead, would never bid trying to get a Motel 6 (1* for sure)
  16. The star rating is 3* and the amenities are: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Golf
  17. I got this hotel through Hotwire for $85 as well for July 16th and 17th. I have a $10 rebate from the Entertainment Book, makes it a little less. I believe this is a fairly new property opened in 2007, it is rated #1 by Trip Advisor :)
  18. Traveling to Milwaukee to see Brewer-Twins baseball in June and was looking for a cheap Saturday night stay. Tried several bids for a 2* property with a first bid of $27 in the Brookfield-New Berlin without success, then adding other areas with bids of $28, $30 and $31 without success. Finally added the downtown area and was successful for a bid of $32 for the Homestead Milwaukee-Brookfield Brookfield - New Berlin 325 North Brookfield Road Brookfield, Wisconsin 53045 Website rate is $94.99, this was a pretty good deal! :) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $32.00 Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.78 Total Charges*: $43.78
  19. Traveling to Milwaukee to see Brewer-Twins baseball in June and was looking for a Sunday night stay. Tried several bids for a 3* property in all areas (except Milwaukee North) up to $40 without success. Closed browser and tried bid of $28 for a 2.5* property (Brookfield-New Berlin first) adding other areas with bids of $30, $31 and $32 without success. Added the downtown area and was successful for a bid of $33 for the Country Inn And Suites Milwaukee West Brookfield - New Berlin 1250 South Moorland Road Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005 Website rate is $139! They have a free continental breakfast here at it is a great location for us. Couldn't be happier with the results! :) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $33.00 Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.93 Total Charges*: $44.93 The date is 6/15/08
  20. Actually the heading should have said $12 which was the correct bid without the bonus, with the bonus added it was $14.86

We saved over $150 for three of us to fly here instead of Miami (non-stop with Sun Country) We were planning on taking the TRI-RAIL commuter train from here to Miami and having my in-laws pick us up, but wanted to try a few Priceline bids anyway. I had been bidding for the last week without success, tried again today and got my rental at a pretty decent rate. My first bid was $9 (plus $2.86) for an economy car, no go. Decided to add a few dollars and bid $12 (plus $2.86) for a mid-size and if not succesful would try for a compact at the same bid. Very surprised the bid was good and I like National - very happy!
  22. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $32.00 Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.17 Total Charges*: $43.17 Staying the one night before an early morning flight to West Palm Beach, park and fly is less than a mile from this hotel. Tried several bids at 3* and 2.5* before this bid, won on first try at $32 after seeing winning bids at $34 from another post. Rate through Hotel website is $95, quite a savings at $32 :)
  23. Hotel: Courtyard By Marriott Dulles Town Center Sterling 45500 Majestic Drive Dulles, Virginia 20166 Your Offer Price: $50.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.55 Total Charges: $62.55 Was just trying to get a inexpensive room for one night, flying in and flying out the next day and needed to be in the Sterling area. Rates looked high for this night, but was hopeful of getting something. Started with 2.5* in the Sterling zone and a $50 bid, not really expecting to get anything (had one rebid available) and what a surprise! I won this hotel, which is going for $209 on Courtyard website. Really, I was willing to settle for the Candlewood Suites where I stayed on my last trip here (for $35) but this will do fine.
  24. Just curious how car rentals with Alamo have been with anyone who has rented with them. I rented from Alamo several years ago in Orlando and everything was fine. I am looking to get a rental in a month or so in D.C. (Dulles) and can get a rate of $14 a day for a mid-size, with all fees/taxes it will be about $70 for four days - thought this was a pretty good deal (discounts with Entertainment Book codes) When my plans firm up I may book at least to have as a backup if I can't get a better deal through PL or HW
