  1. Starting bidding at $80, gradually worked up to the $140 winning bid ... 2 days and several re-bid zones later. Used the Priceline link on this site. As always, thanks for the great information and tools on this site!
  2. I wasn't sure what to expect bidding for this trip, since I wasn't finding any posts describing wins in this area and for these dates. I started bidding low, and used rebid zones to get to this after two days of bidding. Happy with this win - looks like an interesting hotel. Used the PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks!
  3. Booked this for my hubby, who is attending a conference in the Millennium Park area. He was happy with this win, since it landed him pretty close to his conference venue. Tried one lower bid at $80, rejected, added rebid zone and won at $90. Used the PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks for providing this service - I use it almost every time I need to book a hotel!
  4. Starting bidding at $100. Used a couple of re-bid zones, though with the small area it took a 24 hour wait to get to this win. Retail price is currently $186. Used the PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks for maintaining this site as a resource! It was really helpful :)
  5. Won this on my first bid - should have done a bit more homework first! Rooms for these dates are $129 on the Marriott website. Used the PRICELINE link on this website. Thanks!
  6. Attending a conference near Millennium Park. I tried bidding for a 4* hotel over several days, with incremental bids from $100 - 125. At one point I added River North as an additional zone, with no success. Today I increased the bid to $130 and won on my first try. Very happy with this win, as many hotels in the area are sold out or going for $300+/night. Used the PRICELINE link on this website. Thanks for providing a great resource!
  7. Very pleased with this win - looks like a nice place based on the reviews. Thanks for the great information on this forum. My $32 bid worked on the first try. I used the PRICELINE link on this site. 8. Well this did not go as planned and I probably could have bid lower for this hotel. Here is the story.... This Tuesday, I started bidding on 4 rooms for the weekend of 7/17 to meet up with relatives in Milwaukee. Seeing on this forum that 3 1/2 star hotels were going for $40 to $45/night, I began bidding at $38, and used 3 re-bid zones going up to $45. That didn't work, so I closed the browser and bid $45 for a 3* then a 2 1/2*. Nothing worked. Frustrated at this point, I checked the Milwaukee events calendar to find that there is a PGA Golf Tournament in town that weekend, as well as Italian Fest among other things. Knowing this would be an all out battle, I decided to wait 24 hours and try my strategy again - no dice. Got up to $65 for a 3 1/2* downtown, $58 for a 2 1/2* downtown - still no wins. Waited another 24 hours and after losing with a $70 bid for 3 1/2* downtown and $65 for a 2 1/2* downtown, I decided this zone was going to be too rich for my blood. I then bid $58 for a 3* in the South/Airport area and it was accepted immediately. Now I'm kicking myself because I probably could have won it for less, but that bid seemed decent after my struggles to get something downtown. So, if anyone else is trying to book a hotel in Milwaukee for this weekend - you will pay dearly for downtown, but probably can get a better deal elsewhere. Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but hopefully it is helpful if anyone else runs into difficulty. I used the PRICELINE link on this site.
  9. Bid $38, rejected added zone w/o 3.5*, re-bid $40, rejected added another zone w/o 3.5*, re-bid $42, accepted Used the PRICELINE link here, of course. Le Bourget Aero Suites 3

  11. Thanks for the advice. I tried to see if I could get the hotel to come up just for the first or last night of my stay - as suggested - but this hotel would only come up for a portion of my stay. It sounds "too good to be true" and I don't know if I want to be the guinea pig to find out which hotel this is. Though the price is still tempting...
  12. I did a search for Madison for 9/15 - 9/19/08. Hotwire shows a 2* hotel with fitness center, pool, and laundry facilities. Hotwire lists it as a "Customer Favorite" and "Best Value" It is a deal at $29 per night...any ideas what hotel this is?
  13. Won with first bid of $42 per room, for 2 nights/2 rooms. I have stayed here twice before while visiting Milwaukee, and have been happy with the hotel and location. Hyatt Regency Milwaukee Downtown Milwaukee 333 West Kilbourn Avenue Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203 414-276-1234 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $168.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $33.38 Total Charges: $201.38 Used the PRICELINE link at the top of the page.
  14. Well, I decided to try Priceline again to see if I could get something in one of the other zones. Happy to report I got the Radisson in the West Zone, 3*, for $50 on my first bid. I would have liked to be closer to the Downtown area, but this looks like a nice hotel and I stayed within my budget. Thanks to everyone who replied to my post!
  15. I started with just Madison Downtown for $45 for a 3 star. That was rejected, so I added Madison South and went up to $50. When that was rejected, I started looking and found out about the Horse Fair...and panicked! So now I am back to square one. I really didn't want to go more than $50 -60. Do you think I could get a 3 star for this in one of the other zones (Madison East or West)? I found the Radisson listed for $91, which would be in the West zone. The Sheraton Downtown is going for $143.
  16. I bought tix to a show in Madison for Sat. 4/22/06. When I bid on a 3* Downtown for $50, I thought it would be no problem to get accepted. When it was rejected, I did some research and found out that the Midwest Horse Fair is that same weekend in Madison, and last year they had over 54,000 attendees!!!! Is it a lost cause to try to get a good deal on Priceline for this weekend? Thanks for any advice you can give.
  17. We bid on 2 rooms in downtown Seattle, starting bid at $65 for a 4 star. We only wanted to go down to a 3 star, so it took us several days, upping the bid in $5 increments and finally winning at $80. I think we ended up paying a bit more because of it being over the Memorial Day holiday, but we're still happy with the price.
