  1. First time in Iceland, I'm really looking forward to it!
  2. I went to my Hotwire account and I can only find the 4 amenities listed. I know that you can often click on a "see all" button but that link doesn't show up on my reservation. When I go back in and put in the same information for the Hot Rate, the price has gone up $40, and the amenities listed include on-site parking (this property has free parking nearby), so I don't think it's the same hotel. Hotwire states the last person who booked got my hotel, but I don't think the current Hot Rate is for my hotel. Let me know what else I can do to assist. I tried booking it on a standard Hotwire rate but the amenities are too numerous to list. Glad to help in any way.
  3. Have been watching hotel rates for this one night (booked the other 3 nights with Hilton Honors points) and they have been steadily going up on both Hotwire and Priceline. Saw this 3* Hotwire Hot Rate hotel so grabbed it and I am pleased with the results. Hotwire's promo said the last person to book this rate received the CenterHotel Klopp, which would have been nice too. This smaller property looks wonderful and is sold out for this night on their web site. Rates for the days before and after ran 250 Euros. Here's the summary: Rate per night: $138.00 Tax and fees: $30.47 TOTAL: $168.47 Amenities listed were: Free breakfast, free internet, pet friendly, internet access. As always, all searches, bids and wins are made through the BB Board!
  4. Late booking for our trip to the Netherlands and used the 5% off discount coupon referenced on the Board to make the bid $69.35. Bid the same price as the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal, and saved $3.65! Total price including fees was $92.07.
  5. HW has a great deal on a 5* hotel in the Aachen area, but in searching the HW site and this BB Board I couldn't find a 5* match. Any thoughts or assistance would be appreciated!
  6. Last minute car rentals were very high for Des Moines during the week. Was able to get a Price.line at a somewhat reasonable rate, especially given the rates being charged directly on the rental sites. Here's the information: Your Offer Price: $43.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 3 SubTotal: $129.00 Taxes and Fees: $50.88 Total Rental Car Charges: $179.88 AND, as always, all searches, bids AND WINS are made through the BB Board PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.
  7. Great win for this nice property. Lowest Priceline.Express Deal was $135/night, so this win was really was a gem. Further from some of the areas we like to walk, but at this price, not a problem! Offer Price: Per room per night: US$ 65.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: US$ 195.00 Taxes & Fees: US$ 43.08 Total Charged to Card: US$ 238.08 The BB Board had narrowed down the hotels in this zone on prior wins to the 2 Marriotts and the Hilton, all of which were acceptable. And as always, all bids, searches AND WINS are made through the BB Board PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links!
  8. Agreed. I love being across Canal, and these hotels are all really close for walking anyhere I need to go!
  9. Fantastic win for this property on a Tuesday night. The list of ammenities was over 2 columns long, although I'd be glad to post them if requested. I didn't compare ammenities listed prior to bidding, as all of the 4* hotels on Price.line in the D/T area of New Orleans were all acceptable to me. Best Priceline Express price was $74.00, so nice additional savings. Total cost as follows: Room Subtotal: US$ 65.00 Taxes & Fees: US$ 18.15 Total Charged to Card: US$ 83.15 And as always, all bids, searches and wins are made through the BB Board PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links!
  10. Been bidding for a month (always using the BB Board links) and finally got my first night's stay in Anchorage (arriving late, so no worries about where to stay). Haven't stayed at this hotel, but having seen it before it appears to be a modest upgrade over the Inlet Towers (which was my expected "win" at a 2 star level). With taxes and fees, total for 1 night = $115.00. Great value for this time of year. Lowest "PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal" was $104.00, so a modest (but appreciated) savings.
  11. Both pet friendly and business center appear as the ammenities.
  12. Not sure this Hotwire Secret hot Rate Hotel will help others, but I've been watching and bidding on trips in the area (including Koln) and rates seem to be going up, not down. Could've had the Marriott Koln for $121 last month, but since waiting it is now over $220. This hotel had been $68 yesterday and today when I clicked on it it moved up $4. Went back to check and it's now listed at $75/night. Still a good deal for this completely refurbished hotel in 2013. Rates as follows: Rate per night: $72.00 Nights: 2 Tax recovery charges & fees: $29.21 Subtotal: $173.21 Only Amenity listed prior to bidding was "Pet friendly." After booking, it added "business center." Hope this provides some useful information and, as always, all searches, bids and wins are made through the BB Board HOTWIRE links!
  13. Are you locked into a 3 1/2* star rating for the hotel? What zone are you looking for? The 3 1/2* downtown hotel Express Deal is $162.00/night, plus taxes and fees. Priceline has a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for a 3* in the Airport zone for $123.00/night, plus taxes and fees. My guess would be the Millenium. I've stayed there before. It's fine, a bit older, but workable. That price isn't bad really for the summer high season. If you have time and want to take a risk, I usually try to bid PL "name your own price" at about 10-20% below the Express Deal price. Of course, the Express Deal can disappear, so that is a consideration. I don't see any cheaper rates on Hotwire, although they have a 4* downtown for $172.00. My guess would be the Sheraton, which is at the far end of downtown. Hope this helps, and be sure to use the BB Board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links above for all of your searches, bids and wins (hopefully)!
  14. I have not had any problem with any of the rentals I have made through Hotwire or Priceline with any geographical restrictions (other than the Mexico prohibition). The only time I ran into this was a few years ago when I tried to book a rental through Enterprise on one of their $9.99/day weekend rates. That contract had a clear limitation to the surrounding states to Michigan. Otherwise, I have not encountered any issue with the miles driven for the days rented through either service. Hope that helps.
  15. Amazing. And the fact that people book them without booking direct with the hotel to save money is ridiculous.
  16. I'm used to bidding Priceline's "Name Your Own Price" more often and take their $6.95 fee as reasonable when Naming Your Own Price. I noticed in my recent HW booking on their "Secret hot Rate" deal that the fees seemed high, over $10, based on Alaska's sales tax for hotels. I then looked at straight booking the Hampton on Hotwire as I need another stay to reach HiltonHonors Gold for the year, and possibly do a few more business trips and catch up to the Diamond HH level. In any event, Hotwire lists the exact rate that Hilton.com lists for a non-cancellable reservation, i.e. $175.12. Hilton adds tax of $14.01 for a total of $189.13. Checking back in with HW, their "added fees and tax" were $24.59, an additional $10.58 over the direct booking on Hilton.com. Hadn't previously noticed the HW fee on direct bookings, has this been standard? PL lists the Hampton for a non-refundable price of $182.15, with "taxes and fees" of $16.63, which means they are collecting about the same on a straight booking as Hotwire! Not that high when you use the NYOP, so I guess I need to be sure that when I book direct with Hilton, I book through the BB Board Support Page link above when needing the nights to keep my HHonors level! Thanks again for all of the assistance the site provides.
  17. After seeing the PRICELINE drop in rates for my first night in Fairbanks, I started looking for other deals on PRICELINE and HOTWIRE. I saw this Hotwire Deal and grabbed it. I had booked the Westmark at $130/night, cancellable, for the Friday/Saturday nights of my visit. Saved about $25 over my original reservation (including the HW fee). I had looked at the options and had thought the deal would be for the Springhill Suites downtown, but alas, it is the Alpine Lodge which should be fine at this rate. Here's the details: Subtotal for 1 night - $98.00 Tax recovery charges & fees: $18.69 Total price: $116.69 Unfortunately, the only ammenity listed was "Wheelchair accessible." Not much to go on, but then it appears Fairbanks is not a "hot destination" for the BB Board members! As always, all searches, bids, bookings and wins are made through the BB Board PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links above, or through the Support Page link above. Thanks again for the great job on this site.
  18. Good advice, thanks. And I also wanted to let you know that the 2* "Express Deal" on PRICELINE was $85 for the (apparently) same hotel. Earlier I had been bidding on the 2 1/2* property on PL up to within $3 of the Express Deal price using NYOP, without luck. Hit and miss, I guess.
  19. Success! I must've bid PRICELINE and looked at HOTWIRE 100 times for this date just goofing around since March (always through the BB Board links above) trying to get this one night in Fairbanks for my weekend get away. Flight arrives at 12:45 am (still bright outside, day before the summer solstice) so I really just needed a clean hotel near the airport to crash late at night. Board's prior hotel list showed this as an option and price dropped significantly in the past week. Can't beat the price for the high season rates. Never bid on a 2* before, but this hotel will be just fine. Below are the results shown from my NYOP bid. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $75.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $75.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.55 Total Charged to Card: $89.55 And, as always, all bids, searches, bookings and wins are made through the BB Board links! Thanks for all your great help.
  20. When I click on my account and this booking at Hotwire, it just shows terms of use and rate. I don't see the ammenities cited. Where should I click to obtain the ammenities to send to you?
  21. And as a quick follow-up, the Hotwire "hotel hints" showed 3 hotels, 2 of which were downtown Des Moines and not even close to the Altoona area. The third hotel listed was the hotel I received, Prairie Meadows. Plus, the star rating matched up perfectly with Hotwire's refundable rate of $144/night. Sometimes it can work out identifying the exact hotel you are bidding on (and sometimes not, I understand) but especially where there are limited hotels in an area.
  22. Looks like a new hotel reported to the Board as I couldn't see either this zone or hotel previously reported for HOTWIRE (or PRICELINE, for that matter). I had booked this hotel (through the BB links) as a refundable reservation through PRICELINE at $144/night, plus tax, so saved nearly $100 on the 2 nights. The hotel's web site shows no rooms available, so this is a great deal for a late booking, especially in this area of Des Moines, right near my family. And with the Preakness being simulcast this Saturday, an even better deal to be right at this casino and off-track betting site in Iowa! Here's the results of HOTWIRE's hot Deal: Rate per night: HotPricePerNight:$103.00 Nights:2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $40.78 Subtotal: $246.78 And, as always, all searches, bids, booking AND WINS are made through the BB Big Board PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links!
  23. I agree with Romelle on location of the CDG hotels. We bid and won a PRICELINE hotel a couple of summer's ago at CDG (only one zone in those days) and were able to take a short tram ride and walk to the hotel on the way in. In the early morning return, we just made sure we had a reservation with the front desk the night before for their hotel shuttle in the morning and were pleasantly surprised that it was a quick 5-10 minutes to get to our terminal. When we arrived the night before we just couldn't follow the signs properly to get the suttle, so the tram and walking was our last resort. Still made it in 30 minutes!
  24. From Central Paris areas (L'Opera, for example) we paid 52 euros for 2 of us in a taxi to CDG last summer, excluding any tip.
  25. Any ideas on the accuracy of the new "hotel hints" icon? Interesting. I'm looking at Des Moines area hotels in a couple of weeks (always searching and bidding through the BB Board links), and in a couple of cases the hotels identified are the only ones reported to the Board. Thoughts would be appreciated.
