  1. Just to close the loop, I booked the Renaissance Charleston directly through Marriott for $193/nt.
  2. Hi Romelle, Thank you for your input. The Hotwire hotel is most likely Charleston Place Belmond, which is exquisite! I am afraid of 4* category on Priceline because the Vendue Hotel is an option and that one has many rooms with no windows at all. I would freak out. I appreciate your advice, normally it would be possible but no windows = no way ! Best, Shea
  3. Hotwire 3 nights @ $188. Subtotal $564. Tax recovery charges and fees $225.95 The $225.95 is just about 50% of the subtotal! Does this seem normal? It is for a 4.5* in Charleston SC 12/25-12/28/2015. I was very close to purchasing until I saw that. Thank you for any input and I hope I put this in the right topic.
  4. Thank you for the tip about the full amenity list. Yes, I found: FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Suite, 1-bedroom suite, Full kitchen, Daily housekeeping, Air conditioning, Business center, 24-hour front desk, Internet access, Boutique hotel, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible parking. I was just curious, as I will be travelling to Charleston often (some family moved there) and in case there is a price drop it's good to know what my options are. I noticed that the Marriott is listed as one of the 4* options on Hotwire list and I want to stay in a hotel that is better for walking to downtown, so I'm afraid to book Hotwire 4*, unless I pay close attention to amenities. When I finalize my plans I will circle back. As always, thanks for your tips.
  5. Please help ID 3* Downtown Charleston "Hot Rate Condo" $194; December 25-28, 2015 Amenities: Free InternetSuite1-bedroom suiteFull kitchenDaily HousekeepingA/CBusiness Center24-hour front desk Any ideas? I have never bid on a condo before, so I'm not sure if it's private, or a hotel, etc. Thanks!
  6. Complete list of amenities (shown after purchase) include: Amenities: Resort, Free parking, Free Internet, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Children's activities, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower.
  7. Amenities listed on offer: Resort, Fitness Center, Business Center, Free Parking, Free Internet, Restaurant, Pool, Business Center, Golf Nearby This is saving me a great deal of money; I am very happy. I used the Hotwire link on this page to start my purchase.
  8. UPDATE: While the hotel and staff were really nice, I definitely feel that I got a "Priceline" room. One small window overlooking AC Units and a brick wall, room was dark and cramped. Not a 4* room at all. However, it was very clean and in a nice location.
  9. Bid $140 Chelsea - rejected Added Central Park South for 150 - rejected Added Empire State Bulding for $160 and won the Kitano Hotel ! Never stayed at a Japanese hotel - looking forward to it. I used the PRICELINE link here to start my purchase. Thanks.
  10. If I were you I would split my time and my bid. Two nights in Jersey City or Hoboken, and 3 nights in Manhattan. With JC and Hoboken you get the amazing views but it does take a little more time to get into Manhattan.
  11. Booking a Saturday night stay on Memorial Day weekend in NYC proved to be no easy feat. However, I am seeing Tom Petty at the Beacon this night and don't want to rush home afterwards, so I was determined to get a room. Transparent websites showed a lot of places either sold out or rooms $350+ per night. I started at $168 for a 3.5 star in Central Park South and rebid (upped 5-8 bucks each rebid) with these zones: Midtown West, Times Square, Hells Kitchen, Upper East Side. I finally worked my way up to $201 and Midtown East which was accepted at the Doubletree (a 4* !) I went to check the Doubletree website to see the retail price but they are sold out! I wonder if I got one of the last rooms there. I used the PRICELINE link on your page to begin my purchase.
  12. Was looking for one night over Labor Day Weekend. Bid 4* Chelsea - $121 - rejected Added Empire State Building $129 - rejected Added Soho/Downtown/Financial $135 - accepted Millennium Hilton 55 Church Street NY NY Happy with this win. Ironically saw on the news this morning that this hotel is trying to sue over WTC construction noise. Noise is OK with me, plus I am hoping Labor Day Sunday into Monday has less construction. Also saw what appears to be this hotel on Hotwire for $150 - decided to try Priceline first for less money. Used the PRICELINE links from this board to begin my purchase.
  13. First bid of $60.00 accepted in this zone! Used the BB PRICELINE link. Thanks, Tara
  14. Stayed here December 11, 2010. Great staff, very friendly (everyone from front desk to valet to bartender). The suite was roomy and clean. Comfortable bed. 2 flat screen TVs. Dorothea at the front desk was so nice, she gave us warm chocolate chip cookies upon check-in and then upon checkout as well. She also called us a cab. Note that Parking is $20. and the bar in the hotel is very expensive ($17.50 for 2 Coronas - Manhattan prices in NJ). I would stay again though!
  15. Bid up to $130 for a 4* with no success. Then bid $90 for a 3.5* - rejected. Added 3* - accepted at Doubletree. Just need a place to sleep after a big party a few blocks away so I am happy with this win (rooms start at $219 on their site for same night)! I used the PRICELINE link from this board to begin my purchase. Thanks.
  16. Started 3* $60. rejected, added 3.5* and $65. accepted. Last minute trip, not my best strategy (don't bid after 4 glasses of wine) but still a great deal - their website rate is $169.! Courtyard by Marriot - Philadelphia Downtown 21 North Juniper Street Philadelphia PA 19107 Used Better Bidding link to PRICELINE. :)
  17. I had a feeling it was this hotel so I am happy! Hotel website rate is $99 so not a huge discount, but big deals are hard to come by in this area from what I've researched. Excited for my first trip out there. Courtyard by Marriott Lake Powell 600 Clubhouse Drive, Page, AZ, 86040 3* Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby $82. 4/27/10-4/28/10 I used the link from here to get to HOTWIRE. I think this is a new one for the Hotwire hotel list here.
  18. I had to cancel due to the very bad snowstorm. The W Hotel and Priceline worked together and gave me a refund. I am beyond thrilled since Priceline refunds are hard to come by (this was a very bad storm and there were car accidents all over the place though). Looking forward to visiting the W Hoboken in the near future and Priceline will continue to have a very happy and loyal customer. :)
  19. Parking at the W Hoboken is $35.00 - does anyone know of another place to park for less within a few blocks? This is for my stay this Saturday night. :)
  20. The W in Hoboken also has a PATH train just steps away, so does the Westin Jersey City. So any 4* in this zone is OK to walk to the PATH train to Manhattan, not just the Hyatt.
  21. Happy with this win! I used the link on this board to get to PRICELINE. After doing research I started bidding at $90 for 4* Jersey City - Rejected. Added Elizabeth and bid $94 - Rejected Added Secaucus and bid $100 - Rejected Added Short Hills and bid $103 - Rejected Added Newark Airport and bid $106 - Accepted! W Hotel 225 River Street, Hoboken NJ $106.00 + Taxes and Fees of $25.10 = $131.10 (The W Hotel Website is $169 + taxes = $194.35 so significant savings for me!)
  22. Just got back from a 3 night stay here. The hotel was better than I expected. No mention of Hotwire and got a great room with a nice view (in the regular part, not historic tower). My room on the 11th floor was immaculate. It had a flat screen TV, king size bed, work desk and couch with ottoman. The windows open which I love. Minor room complaint is that the room must have had 20W bulbs in every lamp, it was always dark and dimly lit (my friend said her room was like that too). Location is simply fabulous. All employees were very friendly and helpful. Fast elevators. Amazing pool. I would be happy to stay here again. We walked to Trader Joe's (a unique small grocery store) to buy trail mix and water and other snacks for the room - great prices there. Also I highly recommend the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Boat Tour
  23. The weekend before there are virtually no conventions - can you go then? I booked my trip May 8-11 and was happy w/ the rates/availability on both hotels/flights.
  24. Very Very interesting; I didn't know the hotel could "appeal," etc. I am staying here in May and won it as a 4*, as reported here earlier. I double-checked my email from Hotwire and it was indeed a 4* when I "won" it on February 11th.
