  1. Amenities: Free Parking, Restaurant(s), Golf Nearby, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible bathroom, Fitness Center, Laundry Facilities, Children's Activity Program, Accessible path of travel, Handicapped Parking, Pool(s), High Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the Blind, In-room accessibility, Roll-in Shower Looking for a hotel near the Hilton Orlando Resort (sold out) for 2/7 and 2/8 where I have a conference. Thought this would be the Holiday Inn next door to the hilton. Instead it is about a mile away. I'll have a car, and the hotel website states that they provide shuttle service. We'll see!
  2. Amenities: Indoor pool, Spa, Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access. I knew from the prior posts that the 4 star hotels with spas in Cambridge were the Royal Sonesta and the Hyatt Cambridge, and figured this would be the Sonesta. Enjoyed the stay, though parking was an additional $27 per nite. Rooms were somewhat small (European feel), and looked out over the Charles. We were in the older (East) tower. Only negative was that our second night it was cold outside (30 degrees) and the hotel had yet to switch from A/C to heat, so when we came back to our room it was freezing. However, maintenance came quickly and fixed the problem, though it did take 30 minutes or so. Important if the forecast calls for rain, each room has 2 umbrellas. The hotel is across from a mall that has a Macys, Cheesecake Factory, and a Starbucks. Easy access to Kendall Square (about a 10 minute walk), MIT, and numerous biotechs in East Cambridge, as well as the Museum of Science.
  3. Amenities: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Business Center, Free Internet, Accessible for Deaf I had booked the same hotel on Hotwire for 10/31/12 - 11/02/12 for the same price as I could not get home because of Hurricane Sandy and enjoyed my stay; thus I knew what hotel it was when I booked. It is very close to my office (on Emperor Boulevard) and a gym that I can use (Fitness Connection). There are also some good restaurants very close by (Mez, Serena)within walking distance. There is a microwave and a dorm sized fridge in each room. The internet was quite fast, and breakfast was good. The beds were comfortable, shower adequate, and for $54 (5 nites for $313) a good value for the area. Also within 10 minutes of the airport.
  4. Amenities: Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, High speed internet access I was looking for a hotel close to the convention center.
  5. I am attending a medical training course at the Wynn from March 11 - 13 and saw on better bidding that most of the 5* "wins" in the "Strip North" were the Wynn. I wanted to stay at the hotel where the meeting was being held. After haggling I was quoted a best rate of $725 including tax from the hotel reservations center. I thought that if I could get a 5* in Las Vegas on PRICELINE in the Strip North region for those dates that odds on it would be the Wynn. Bid History: Zones 7: $70 1,7: $80 1,2,7: $90 1,2,3,7: $100 1,2,3,4,7: $105 1,2,3,4,5,7: $110 1,2,3,4,5,6,7: $115 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,11: $120 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,11,12: $125 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,11,12,13: $135 Total for room ($405), tax and fees ($63.45) and travel insurance ($15): $483.45 A savings of $242 for the 3 nite stay compared to the "best rate".
  6. Logged onto PRICELINE through Betterbidding.com. I need a hotel close to both Christiana Hospital in Newark and Union Hospital in Elkton, MD. Bid history: 10/26/10: Only for 3*: $35, 38, 40. (Newark, Newark + Elkton, Newark + Elkton + New Castle). All rejected. 10/27/10: Only for 3*: $43 (Newark) was rejected. I got a message asking me to raise my bid to $58 and I would get a free "re-bid" for Newark. I refused, and instead added Elkton and increased my bid to $50 and this was accepted. Total cost for 4 nights is $228.56. The hotel rated 4+ stars on Tripadvisor (32 total reviews, 8 in 2010). This bid is a bit higher than other winning bids in the area (most are in the $40's). However, the Hilton-Christiana was sold out on 11/1/10 and 11/2/10, suggesting there may be higher demand.
  7. This is my first time using the BetterBidding Message Board. I will be in Boston with my daughter to look at colleges in Cambridge. I am paying $110 at the Marriott Copley Place for Monday and Tuesday nights, July 26 - 28, 2010 through Priceline. I logged into Priceline from the BetterBidding.com link. I first wanted to stay in Cambridge, MA at a 4-star hotel (to limit the possibility of the Hyatt Regency). Having researched the properties on this site I proceeded to bid (2 days ago) with re-bidding from $70 - $95 raising my bid sequentially by $5 and was rejected all 6 times. Yesterday I continued this strategy, bidding from $105 - $130, the result being the same - 6 rejections. Today I decided to look at Boston, specifically Copley, and to lower my selection to 3.5 stars as this includes the Marriott Copley Place, Sheraton, and Hilton Back Bay, all hotels I have stayed at previously. My consecutive bids, using re-bidding, were: $75, $85, $100, and $110, which was finally accepted. With Taxes and Fees this is $261.74, not bad considering the rate on the website is $299.
