  2. Tried for 5 days to get Ontario 3* Below is bidding history and hotel I won through Savings Barn. 3. Thanks, but I already won a hotel...posting it on the board.
  4. This is the fourth day I bid for a 3 star hotel in Ontario. I thought I could get the hotel around $41. The last two days I placed a bid I received a notice I could add $12 to my bid to get a hotel. I decided to follow the advice of this board and rebid instead. Here's what I did. Day 1 - 38, 40 Day 2 - 41, 43 Day 3 - 41 (notice to increase $12), rebid 43 Day 4 - 41 (notice to increase $12), rebid 45 Any advice on how much to increase my only rebid and possibly get the hotel? TIA
  5. Fourth day bidding on Disneyland hotel. First two days started at $40 and bid up to $50 (3 rebids)-rejected. Third day started at $45 and up to $52. Today-bid 48, 50, 54 and got the Hilton. Still need to get 2 more nights for our trip and will post those once I win. Hotel Name: Hilton Suites Anaheim/Orange Your Offer Price: $54.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $54.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $13.94 Total Charges: $67.94
  6. This hotel was equidistant from two events we were attending so location was fine. The staff was helpful and the room was clean. Drawbacks: pool was closed the entire time we were there. Restaurant/lounge was closed during posted hours the evening we went downstairs. The front desk told us it closed at 7 that night and she did not know why.
  7. Grand Targhee Resort is a beautiful resort. The staff was helpful even though it was the slow season. Food was good and swimming pool clean. My biggest complaint with this location is that it does not have the amenities of a 2 1/2 star hotel. I just e-mailed priceline to let them know. The rooms do not have hair dryers or irons/ironing boards. I expected both of these and was disappointed. Also, it is at least 1 hour drive through a winding pass to get to Jackson Hole...FYI
  8. What rating was Towneplace Suites? I tried 3 times to get a 2 1/2 star hotel this past week in College Station (hoping for the Hilton), bidding 45, 50, 55 and all rejected. I did not want to pay more and get a hotel I was unsatisfied or lower my star rating (since I did not know which hotels were considered 2* in this area). I ended up making a reservation through Travelocity for Vineyard Court $89 (5/25-5/26). It was a large King suite. We loved our stay and prefer it to Hilton, which was running $169/night on their site. The Vineyard Court has fantastic personnel, all rooms open to a courtyard filled with plants and a swimming pool. Your stay includes evening social hour and breakfast. Although $89 is much more than I usually spend on a priceline hotel, it was well worth it.
  9. Thanks for the suggestion to contact Priceline. Do you suggest e-mail or calling priceline? If so, where is the best place to contact them about my request. Kerry ps. who is feeling better about overbidding because I have saved so much other money with my other priceline bids this summer (usually $40-50/night)
  10. Best Western Riviera in Foley (about 10 miles away). We heard the road from Foley to Gulf Shores is very busy and takes awhile to get to the beach.
  11. Bid $45 for College Station 2 1/2*, wanting Hilton. No rebid zones, so will wait 72 hours and rebid at $50 or $55. Anyone thinking I should bid differently on rebid, please let me know.
  12. Bid $75 for Gulf Shores, Alabama hotel 2 1/2*-rejected. No rebid zones so I will wait 72 hours and rebid. I have a reservation 10 miles away in case PL doesn't accept my offer. Would love to be closer to the beach. I plan to rebid $80 because I want to stay below my reservation of $89. Any advice???
  13. I way overbid on this. I was trying for Jackson Hole 3* at $100. Everything here goes for over $150 on published hotel sites. Rebid Targhee 3* at $105-rejected. Mistakenly :) added 2 1/2* at $105 and won in Targhee. It's a little drive from Grand Tetons, but will be closer to drive home in Idaho. Grand Targhee Resort 2 /12* Arrive: July 6, 2005 Depart: July 8, 2005 Bid: $105 (2 nights) 210.00 Fees: 24.80 Total: 234.80 I guess our whitewater rafting trip will make up for the sinking feeling I have about this mistake. :)
  14. Began bid over a month ago at $30 for 3*--just hoping! Rebid zones up to$35. Tried again 3 days later, starting at $35 and rebid zones up to $40. Spent 3 weeks bidding 3* at $40 every 3 days (with 5 rebid zones each time). Yesterday bid $40 for 3*, rebid zones twice at $40 for 3*, added 2 1/2* at $37 and won. Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Houston Medical Center Arrive: June 2, 2005 Depart: June 4, 2005 Bid: $37 (2 nights) 74.00 Fees: 20.18 Total: 94.18
  15. Everything is quite expensive during the summer. I found a Days Inn that charged about $150/night. Others range in the 200-300/night range.
  16. I was just talking to dh this morning about making reservations. I'm not sure I can get a good deal through priceline. I found a room for $100 in Jackson Hole and think I might take it. If anyone has advice about staying near Grand Tetons or Jackson Hole, I would appreciate it. We will arrive July 6 for 2 nights. Willing to spend $100-125, but always prefer a better deal if possible. Prefer at least 2* or higher. TIA, Kerry
  17. We exhibit at a show in the Astrodome area once a year. There is an Olive Garden restaurant across the street and more along 610 (not far). I am about to bid on this area and wanted to check what was there. It may be far for you, but it would be a great location for us - within walking distance. Kerry
  18. Bid $35 for 3* hotel in Grand Prairie (May 5-8), rebid 3 times and did not win. Waited 3 days Bid $40 for 3* again and rebid 1time, did not win. Waited 3 days. Bid $40 for 3* - Won Hilton Arlington and it's about 3-5 minutes from the conference center. :) Kerry
  19. Does anyone know of other priceline hotesl in the Arlington area besides Amerisuites? We stayed at Amerisuites last year and I'd like to know if there are other hotels that have been picked up by priceline. Our stay was nice, but I'd like to make a more informed bid for this May. Kerry
  20. We are planning a trip to Grand Tetons this summer and would like to stay nearby. The only hotel I can find listed for the entire state of Wyoming is in Cheyenne. Does anyone have experience with hotels in the Jackson Hole area? We'd like to stay at a nearby resort or a 3 star as listed on PL. Any ideas?
  21. Since I just found this board, I thought I'd post my most recent stays through PL. We paid $50 for one night stay on Jan 4 at Park Plaza. I can not remember the exact bidding that I did, but believe I started at $35 in another area (Roundrock), waited a few days to rebid. Bid around $40 and $45 in that other area (3 days apart bidding). Waited again, bid $45, rebid zone $50 & won. Nice hotel. Don't see it listed on Texas hotels. From the outside I did not think it would be great. Since our last PL stay was at Holiday Inn-Phoenix downtown (a real dud), I was skeptical. Rooms were clean with plenty of ammenities. Bar/restaurant downstairs was fine. Personnel was helpful. Would stay here again.
  22. We just returned from a business trip and stopped in Chicago for a night. We stayed at the Hyatt. Bid $40 rejected. rebid with option to increase $12, bid $52 accepted. Nice hotel. When we checked in on Sunday afternoon it was a packed lobby, so off we went to Navy Pier. When we returned it was quiet, probaby because it was Sunday night. Since it was raining we ate at Connies Pizza downstairs. When we went to the lobby bar later, the Academy Awards were so loud we left and went to their restaurant bar (much more quiet). Enjoyed our stay, but parking was astronomical ($39). Since we have an oversized van, we could not fit in many of the public parking locations nearby.
  23. Two years ago we stayed at the Hilton near the airport in Phoenix. It was a 3 star and I believe we paid $35. I know this is old info, but thought I'd post it anyway.
  24. This happened to us last summer and was our first dud with priceline. It is not a 3 star hotel and is far from the convention center downtown. The elevator did not work and all rooms opened up to the outside corridor. I'm glad I found this site to help me in our travel plans this summer.
