  1. Thanks for the advice. However, I failed on the above strategy. We can go a little higher if needed. But if we have to go over $125 (MAX bid) we would probably rather look to other areas or a lower quality hotel. Thanks!
  2. If we raised our max to $200 could you suggest a bidding strategy? Thanks!
  3. Any guess what a 3* in the same area would go for?
  4. I think we'd prefer to look at North Michigan only. Thanks!
  5. My son and I are going to Chicago 9/29 thru 10/2. We would prefer to stay on N. Michigan or Grant Park and would like a 4* hotel. Our max bid is a little soft as we're going one way or another. I've gotten a 4* on Wacker for $50 in the past but my research indicates this may be way to low for this time of year. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks!
  6. We are looking for a 4* hotel in NY City from Sep. 29 - Oct. 3. We prefer Midtown West. Our max bid would be around $150/night. Could you please provide a bidding strategy? Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the help! We got the hotel we had hoped for at $45/night! Select 3* West... Bid $40, rejected Bid $45, rejected Bid $50, rejected Select 3* Downtown... Bid $40, Rejected Bid $45, and got the Downtown Marriott Thanks again....great website!
  8. The package we got was through Southwestvacations.com. We calculated the effective hotel rate after subtracting the current airline rates from Southwest that we would have paid had we not bought the package.
  9. We are looking to book two rooms in Des Moines for the Iowa-ISU weekend for the nights of September 9th and 10th. We don't care too much where we are in DM but would prefer a 3*. Could you please suggest a bidding strategy? Our max price would be about $60/room. Thanks!
  10. I'm taking my son to Busch Gardens Sep. 29 - Oct 2. It looks as if this area has just one hotel in each the 3* and 2 1/2 * category. We're looking to get as cheap as possible so don't really care if it's the 3* or the 2 1/2. I'm assuming both are in decent neighborhoods anyway. Any clue on how to bid these hotels?
  11. Thanks for the help. We ended up finding a three night package with air that resulted in us getting the Bellagio for an effective $150/night after deducting for the plane tickets. Thanks for helping!
  12. I'm trying to get tickets to Las vegas for August 18th, returning to Kansas City on August 21. This morning tickets went up across the board. Any ideas on how I can get back to the $225/ticket range I was in?
  13. Well, we were unable to get a 5* so we're lowering our star level. I just bid the strip for $75 for a 4* and was rejected for the dates of 8/18 - 8/21. Any suggestions for a rebidding strategy? Thanks!
  14. If we choose not to split the bid, what would you suggest for all three nights at a 5*? Also, if we do split the bid and go 2* for Friday and Saturday, what would be a good price for a 4* strip hotel?
  15. Yes, we would be willing to split the bid
  16. At $200/night I'd either just book through the travel agent or lower my star quality and get a much cheaper price. Do you think there's any shot at getting the Ventiain at that price? As it appears, that's the only other 5* hotel on the strip, correct? And if I lower to 4*'s what's the average recent bid price for a on-strip hotel? Thanks!
  17. Thanks, I noticed that list after I posted...sorry! For a five star, my maximum bid would be in the $150 range. We can get the Bellagio for an effective $200/night through a package deal but wouldn't mind paying less of course!
  18. My wife and I are going to Vegas for our Anniversary on August 18 for three nights. We'd love to get he Bellagio but would be happy with a good price on other 5* hotels. Does anyone know what hotels are considered 5* on the strip? Also, does anyone have a good bidding strategy? Thanks! Tim
  19. Thanks everyone. I look forward to seeing your picture gmarie. Have a great trip!
  20. We ended up bidding on a 3* in the South region. First try we got the Radison Waikiki for $58/night. Thanks for all your help! Has anyone ever stayed here? Thanks again! Hotel Name: Radisson Hotel Waikiki Prince Kuhio 2500 Kuhio Avenue Honolulu, Hawaii 96815 808-922-0811 Summary of Charges Billing Date: March 2, 2005 Your Offer Price: $58.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $174.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $30.13 Total Charges: $204.13
  21. We have no preference North or South. Sounds like we should chose opposite of the Garden hotel? Or South if more of the action is there.
  22. Thanks very much! Do you have advice if we choose to do the 3* route? We'll do our bidding tonight and let you know how it goes. Thanks for all your help, great website!!
  23. Yes, I did understand the re-bidding rules. Thank you. I'm disapointed to hear that this zone is not all beachfront. I had heard it was. What's your experience in the 3-4* range? I'm guessing at worst, the beach isn't more than a few blocks away? Thanks!
