  1. Hi,

    I need to attend a conference in Philly between 8/13 - 8/16.

Thereafter, I am going to Los Angeles for about 12 days, till 8/28.

Now, i need a park and fly deal that will somehow allow me to stay in Philly for the conference, and go for my 12 days trip to Los Angels.

will priceline-booked hotels offer park & fly deals? I am looking at a maximum of 3* hotels..

    sincerely, Noela

  2. Checked into this hotel today, 07/16/2005.

Impressed by the size of this room.

For a 2.5* rating, this hotel is worth much more....it is quite large, with kitchen, big bedroom and bathroom - it almost feels like a 1-bedroom apartment.

I felt so much at home. It does not compare with any other 3* or even 4* i have stayed at....

Excellent for families on vacation, and others with domesticated tastes....

Highly Recommended ..will stay here again !

  3. Well,

    I got it at a 2* Level.

Since bidding at 2.5* and 3* levels were not successful at even up to $80, I dropped star level, and bidded straight $60 for JFK, and got it. With taxes and fees, it came to $78 (advertised rates for that hotel start at around $90, with taxes/fees, it could run about $120).

At least, I am happy we will be closer to the airport. Please amend title to:

2* NYC Airports (Airport JFK) Best Western, $60 -- 6/14

    cheers - Noela

  4. Hi,

A friend of mine is having an 5hr (11pm - 6am) lay over at JFK on tuesday, June 14, to catch a plane the following morning. She needs a place to rest.

For a 5hr stay, quality is not so much an issue, though safety is. What bidding strategies would you suggest - i don't know the JFK area well, so i don't know how far to stay. Her flight to the west coast is around 7.30am, meaning we have to be at the airport latest at 6am. We are prepared to pay about 60 per night.

thanks in advance for your help - N

  5. Well, successfully bidded and got the same hotel again - Wyndham.

    First bidded $40 Elizabeth-Newark

Counter offered 2 increase, which i failed to accept.

    I closed browser and bid $50 for a 2.5* Newark-Newark EWR.

This was rejected, so I added Elizabeth-Newark increasing my bid to $55, which was also rejected.

I closed my browser, began a new session

I selected 2.5* Jersey City starting at $50 - this was rejected.

I added Elizabeth-Newark, increased my bid to $55 and

bang, it was accepted, and upgraded to a 3*.

    Thanks - Noela

  6. Here i am again - i need help in bidding for a Newark airport/elizabeth area hotel for one night - june 4 through 5th.

I am willing to accept 2.5 - 3* levels, at a maximum bid of about $55.

BTW - i originally started with 2 nights 6/3, but had to split bid, and got Wyndham for the first night.

My options are to try and get Wyndham for the second night or preferably get a different hotel to compare.

    What strategies could work?

    cheers - N

  7. Thereuare:

    Finally got it !!

    I followed your instructions and:

    Selecte 2.5* Jersey City...

I bid $55, it was rejected, so I added add Elizabeth-Newark EWR..., and it was accepted and upgraded to a 3*

with taxes it came to $70 for the first night.

What options do i have now for the second night? Should I try to add it now using the same booking strategies? OR should i start a new booking outright?

I am inclined to follow the same strategy you suggested above and get a different hotel for one more night just for comparison purposes - BTW, I had stayed at Wyndham before and liked it, but would want to sample other hotels around the airport area.

would you recommend this for the second night.

and how do i change my subject line to reflect the win?

    thanks - N

    cheers - Noela

  8. Now that i've learnt my lesson....re acceptable bid and what MAX i am willing to bid, I want to try split bidding.

I just tried and bid $40 for Elizabeth-Newark for just one night (friday night) - it went through and rejected it - but it didn't give me the usual warning that i need to wait or change my bidding zones.

I was thinking of following the strategies you suggested, and up my bidding till about $55 and see what gives.

I can then do the same for the second night, and wouldn't mind chaning hotels/motels?

    adviceable?

thanks for the efforts - N

  9. Sometimes, when I'm in NJ airport area for my routine visits, I stay at EconoLodge (Elizabeth) or HowardJohnson and pay about 62/night or HowardJohnson at - with taxes, it comes to close to 66.

I wanted something better quality than EconoLodge, but at roughly the same price range. I thought by pegging my max bid at 50, i could still get by with around 140 for the 2 day stay.

So, I could still increase my bid a bit, so long as I can get something around $65 range tax / fees inclusize. Is it possible anywhere? I am sending you an IM message too.

    cheers - N

  10. I bid for the highest #3.5* in the JC area, and tried only once - $40. It tried to look for a hotel for me, and couldn't find one, hence sent me the usual email saying your bid was rejected.

I came back in added Newark airport area, adding a 2.5* zone, and suggested $41 - it warned me that it was not going to be acceptable, so I did not go ahead with the bid.

thanks for the reminder to not follow others strategies.

    cheers - N
