  1. Zone MSU, East Lansing, Okemos. 9/29-9/30/16 $86 plus fees and tax ($106 total) Amenities: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access 100% Recommended, Trip advisor 4 circles. Holiday Inn Express Okemos. Hotels in this are $150 or more so this is a good saving at a nice hotel. My meeting is in Okemos so I am happy.
  2. It says: Extended Stay America - Detroit - Auburn Hills - I -75 1180 Doris Rd. Auburn Hills, MI, 48326 Thanks,
  3. I went with a hotel on the way. We will see if it is up the level of a 2.5 star hotel. The amenities are Free Parking, Free Internet, Free Breakfast, Pet Friendly, smoke free, self service laundry, internet access. Look okay for the price.
  4. No clue continued...95% Recommended 37 total reviews, Troy, Birmingham, Madison Heights. Amenities: Free Parking, free Internet, No Smoking. 2* $35.Overall satifaction 4s and 1 4.5. March 13 one night. Any guesses?
  5. No I searched for 1 adult. You are absolutely right, the 95% approval is gone. This now may be a listing for the red roof inn. It lists a 50% approval rate. The current hotel lists 2's for its review. The hotel I was looking at for 4s and 4 and a half for review. I will keep looking thanks for your help.
  6. Hot Rate Hotel Birmingham - Troy - Madison Heights area 2* 95% recommended Mar 13-14 1 night. Free Parking and Internet (that's it!). $37 per night! I have no clue what this is. There is no way the Red Roof Inn could get a 95% approval rate. I used the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links. Any idea?
  7. We stayed at the Comfort Inn as per my reservation.
  8. How safe is the Convention Center/Arts area. Is this area particularly dangerous? I understand that this is a big city and not as safe as home. There is an excellent deal for a 3* hotel $87 (95% approval rate, free breakfast, free parking, pool, fitness, business, resturant, golf) (Hampton Inn?) a night during my meeting in November 5-10). I am planning to take my staff so I am worried about their safety. They did well in New Orleans last time. With a 95% approval rate and this low price I think I should grab it. How is the safety of this area? I will be ready to book soon. Thanks for your help.
  9. 2.5* Mackinaw City, MI, Baymont Inn and Suites for 7/18 - 7/19 one night. 2 adults 2 kids. $79+tax and fees = $91 #1 (out of 40) rated property by Tripadvisor. 100% hotwire satisfaction rating. I have always been satisfied with hotwire when the customer satifaction rating is 90% or higher. Here are the amenities. free parking free breakfast free internet Pet friendly Indoor Pool Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool High Speed Internet Accessilbe blind Accessible deaf Accessible travel Accessible path Accessible in room Accessible bath Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower. I used the HOTWIRE link above to book as always. This is my first HOTWIRE win in a while. I have been booking direct for my last few trips due to diminished quality in a star rating (one star motels pretending to be 3*) and lack of a discount and I am glad to see an excellent property at a discount.
  10. I have reserved directly a cancelable reservation at Comfort Inn for $152 in the Central Business District 10/30/13 - 11/4/13. I will continue to watch Hotwire as the date gets closer. If I don't reopen the thread then we have chosen to remain at the Comfort Inn. It should be okay for our purposes. It should be quieter than the French Quarter and not as expensive as right next to the convention center.
  11. Thanks for your help. I will keep an eye on Hotwire for drops in price and reserve on May 1st through my special rates and then look for price drops.
  12. I used the city pass for a 4 day trip and it is go for either a family trip or an adult trip. It had a choice of attractions. My kids would want to go to one out of the two choices. The citypass includes the frequently bought extras so I think it is a good deal. You can also skip the regular lines. The only long lines (and they were very long)were at the Shedd aquarium. The passes may have changed and you can look at them and decide for yourself if you know where you are going. On the city pass we went to the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, Willis Tower, and museum of Science and Industry. The pass included what most people would buy when they go there. For adults I would definately go to the Art Institute but I think my kids may be bored. I agree with the other poster that either the Hancock or the Willis Tower but not both. Bring some glass cleaner for the glass viewing deck. I consider all of the above world class exhibits and worthy of spending time and money. I agree that Navy Pier is very good but not world class. It is worthwhile to go to the children's museum, imax theatre, stain glass museum, nice view from the ferris wheel, and a couple of other fun things (a wierd maze?). I definately agree that you must get deep dish pizza and they also have good steak houses. I also love the Thai food as well. Theater is also very good with excellent new plays at the Goodman theater, and broadway touring companies at the State Theatre. There is great shopping on Michigan Avenue and GREAT DEALS ON HOTELS on PRICELINE and HOTWIRE. Pick up a copy of the Reader for all the nightlife and museums.
  13. My special housing has been announced. It will be available May 1st. It is possible that the hotels will be sold out before they go on sale due to preorders. There are 40 hotels listed near the convention center, french quarter and downtown. They all have a free shuttle to the meeting. Nearly all hotels have a parking fee of about $30. The three cheapest hotels are: Holiday Inn Superdome 150 Hampton Inn near French Quarter 180. with breakfast. Hampton Inn convention center 199. with breakfast. I think holiday inn is far away. I think the hampton Inn downtown near French Quarter should be reserved as a backup. (free cancellation before 10/1/13.) I can see if prices drop in the summer. Is it safe to walk from the French Quarter to Downtown?
  14. I will need three rooms for 1) two adults and two children, 2 additional rooms for 5 total adults. The five adults are all the same sex so they could stay in a special large room for 5. My budget is open but it has to be less than my special rate (not announced yet) through my professional society. Under $200 would be acceptable but even saving $50 would mean saving about $750. At our last trip in Orlando we stayed at the Radisson 3* in Orlando for $40++ a night but they threw us in the Metropolitan 1* for the first 3 nights. It looks real expensive but we would like to stay within the downtown area to make commuting to the convention center easy. The staff would like to stay where the party is, so that they can drink and have a short walk to their hotel room.
  15. I am taking my staff to a New Orleans convention at the Convention Center. I assume there will be a free shuttle from the convention center to the popular hotels. What are considered to be safe areas? My staff would like to be in the French Quarter or where the nightlife is. I would like to be near the convention center. Could I save money be getting a hotel downtown or in the "Garden" area? What areas are unsafe for a business traveler? I am planning to take my wife kids and staff. What zones should I look at. The prices are extremely high for 10/31-11/3. Thanks :D

  17. Holiday Inn Express Downtown. I am happy with the purchase and yes used the above HOTWIRE link.
  18. Yes it was the Best Western Orlando Gateway. We stayed there for two nights. A mediocre hotel. The air conditioner was not very good and we tried switching rooms but it wasn't any better in the second room. The location was ideal but the hotel could be better.
  19. Help identify hotel for 1/18/13 to 1/19/13. 3* Recommended by 85%. $157 Amenities: Free Breakfast Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel Handicapped parking Bathroom has a roll-in shower Is it the Holiday Inn Express downtown?
  20. Successful HOTWIRE bid for Sheraton Novi Detroit $66 4/17/12 - 4/20/12. Not the best hotel, but I am very happy since it is the headquarters hotel for my convention. My organization has arranged a free shuttle to the convention center. My special rate for this hotel is $110. Thank you for your help and I used the link above.
  21. Need help identifying a 3.5* hotel for Novi $66 on 4/17 thru 4/20. There is a major convention in town and I should grab a room now. I would be happy with the Hilton Garden. I could try just one night. It is recommended by 95%. The amenities: Free Parking Indoor pool Smoke free rooms Fitness center Pool Restaurant High Speed Internet Business Center Accessable path of travel, wheelchair, inroom, handicapped parking, and bathroom with roll in shower. Sounds like a good deal.
  22. 4* Lake Mary 9/1/12 - 9/2/12 $79+ tax and fees.
