  1. Oh, I just booked the darn thing. Tried bidding on Priceline last night and great day, took forever. We saved over $400 from our Holiday Inn backup reservation. I got the Row, as predicted, for $158. I'm ok with this. I read bad things about it when it was Milford but according to the reviews on TripAdvisor it sounds like they've done a lot.
  2. Thank you! I'd like to try this strategy once, then I think I'll book the 3.5* on Hotwire.
  3. Ok, our dates have changed, but just by one day. We are now going 4/28 - 5/2 Can you please ID these hotels, and give us a Priceline 4* then 3.5* strategy for TS, MTW, ESB, MSG up to $190? This should be the final time I ask. I'll do the strategy and then book one of these if I'm unsuccessful. Thank you! 4. When I stayed there years ago, it was only a 2.5*. I loved it and have stayed there twice, would stay there again in a heartbeat. Perhaps this was before renovations. :D
  5. Ok, hold the phone. My dates may be off. I have to check with the huzboo when he has vacation scheduled. I double checked his calendar (good thing) and I think he has the week of May 3rd instead. Will confirm tomorrow after I talk to him.
  6. I think I'm being snobbish about the Row -- it used to the be Milford Plaza, yes? And was none so good? I suppose it's changed and we may like it, we've never stayed there I just seem to remember we booked it back in the day and then read the reviews and YIKES! How about the strategy leaving out HK, MTE and Chelsea? Well...we'll still try for a 4* up to $190 and book the 3.5* you recommend if it turns up nothing! Yay! And thank you for your help and advice. Will always use your links. If you can find something that is bid-free on Priceline or some trick with Hotwire I didn't find (like last time, we found that hotel with 3 people, even though we were only 2), I'd appreciate it. Thank you so much for your help!
  7. Ok, let's try this one (not too hip on the Row...just in case). I have not had time to breathe so I haven't booked or tried anything yet. I can this evening, though. 4* Midtown East area Rate per night: $192 Amenities Indoor pool(s) Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Tennis nearby TripAdvisor 4 out of 5 Hotwire customer reviews  75% recommended I'm thinking it's the One UN which is terribly far away from a Subway...not crazy about that. We'd like a 4 or 3.5* near a Subway and mid-Manhattan...if possible. The One UN is the only one on your list that lists a pool as an ammenity (actually, your list says it has a poo, which gave me a junior high school chuckle). Should I ask for a Priceline strategy here or the Priceline thread? I know we will take what we get, but you guys have never steered me wrong. We always use your Hot.wire and Price.line links. Last time, you pointed me to a Hotwire offer that was fantastic that didn't come up for me -- it was $131 and the Tryp by Wyndham on 35th Street...so if you see something I'm missing, that would be great too. If I can ask here for the Priceline strategy: We'd like MTE, MTW, HK, TS, ESB, MSG 4* strategy up to $190/night. MUCH THANKS!

(which I've stayed in and love, but it's not a 3.5*) I can't reserve until Friday - and am thinking of Price.line bidding, but clicked on your HOTWIRE link to check what the going rates are. We have a Holiday Inn back up reserved for 326.52 (that's average for all days, taxes included)
  9. Very good idea, Romelle. Since I know it's going to go higher, I just bid on 4* and 3.5*s at $130, 135, then 138. Still nothing. I'll probably be able to try a few times through the weekend with this speedy process. Can't hurt! Thanks!
  10. Well, not really. Takes 30 minutes or so to go through it. Hard to find 30 minutes at a stretch where I can trying to tie up loose ends before, so maybe once or twice more. BackupBooking is a cool site, thanks! And I always show my love by clicking the links here first. Thanks for all your help!
  11. Yep, don't think this is going to work. Did strategy through 3.5 and even for a lark tried 3, adding in a no bidding zone at $125 and $130 and nothing. I may try one more time before we go, glad we have a back up hotel because we are probably going to use that. Thanks!
  12. Couldn't figure out how to edit this. It's early and I need more coffee. Max bid would be $138. I just ran it, starting at $100, adding non bidding zones and $5 increments (except the last at $3) and 4* only, and nothing was taken. So based on that...let's do 4* and 3.5*, max bid of $138/night.
  13. Oh, forgot you want that. Let's say maximum bid 290. BUT lets start at $100, since most Louisville 4* wins seem to be around 75 (but I think it will be a tough win)? I can adjust up $5 every few days if it doesn't seem to be working. and of course will always use the links. You all have been very good to me in the past. Thank you!!!!
  14. Hello! Would like a bidding strategy for October 27 and 28th (2 nights) in Louisville, KY. We'd like a 4* if possible, willing to bid to a 3.5* but maybe wait until a week or so before to try for that. We currently have reserved a room at the Econo Lodge and the total with taxes and fees is coming to 311.23. If we can get a nicer hotel at that Priceline total (fees and such) price or even less, that's the goal. We only want to stay in the downtown area (hubby not comfortable driving in cities he's not used to, and he wants to be within walking distance and does not want to take a taxi). This may be impossible and we may end up at the Econo Lodge after all, which would be ok if we need to. Paul McCartney playing the Yum Center on the 28th and that night is making the rates high but will let you know what we end up doing. Thank you!

Yes, I used the HOTWIRE links on this board to book. Turns out I actually am spending $2 over what it would have cost me to book directly through their website ($62.55, booking early bonus), with taxes and such. Ugh. Oh, well, you can put it on your list...and we have a room.
  17. Don't know why, but the thread sub-subject line says I won this at $0 for 10/6... it was $53 for 10/13 :D May want to change it.
  18. OK, I did that. I don't have any children so I hope I don't have to borrow any for the trip. They may not enjoy Spring Awakening... Here's what I won: Hyatt House Raleigh North Hills- 3.0-star hotel 160 Park At North Hills, Raleigh, NC, 27609 Rate for the same (2 adults, 2 children) on their website is $143/night. 2 adults only is same price. Hotel is 11 minutes from the theatre and 8 minutes from our favorite pizza restaurant, not bad. Plus it seems like a very nice hotel. Very pleased. Thank you for all of your help!
  19. :( No dice. There is a 3* room on HOTWIRE at $54. You don't have just "Raleigh" on your Hotwire Hotel List so I'm not sure you can figure this one out, but thinking of booking it anyway: Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pool(s) Self service laundry Internet access ETA: This is very interesting. The 3* $54 price comes up when I look it up on Hotwire directly at that price (using the link here of course). I get a $50 3* using the Bidding Helper tool here with the same Amenities. Same hotel? Why the $4 price difference?
  20. Thanks, guys. Let's do this: Max $58, starting 3.5* then 3*, only Downtown-NCSU and see what happens. Still have to talk hubby into the trip, but I can work it tomorrow. ;)
  21. I did what I could, Yellowdog, but sis isn't being terribly helpful. I won't ask for anyone else again. Hopefully this will unlock me since I've used this forum many times before for myself.
  22. Sorry, but I'm the one who uses this board on a regular basis and yes, I use the links, but was asking for her because she didn't understand how to use the board. She told me she got the Holiday Inn Express in Hell's Kitchen at $228, 440 West 57th Street. I asked her to tell me the amenities and she lead me back to Hotwire, telling me to find it. SMH. I'm sorry, but this is about all I can do to get information from her and while I'm a frequent user of this board, I will no longer be asking for anyone else because she wouldn't ask herself and isn't being very helpful. I'm sorry. I THINK it's this listing <dead link removed>. Of course, she has no idea herself, said she thinks so. And getting her to come here and post herself -- needless to say I'll only be asking for myself from now on. :( I'm sorry, but I'm a frequent visitor here and use the links and have recently asked a question for a hotel myself in NC and if I can't get help because of this stupid query (and I'm blaming my sister, not you guys!) I will not be happy.
  23. Hubby and I considering (not 100%) an overnight Sunday 10/13 in Raleigh. We are thinking of seeing a show at Raleigh Little Theatre, in Cameron Village. http://raleighlittletheatre.org/index.html Looking at the map, seems like area 6 - Downtown Raleigh, would be the best choice for the area. So that would be our first choice. We could probably do Arena Area, Cary North or Crabtree too but would like to try for Downtown first and foremost. See if we can get a room at $50-ish or less for a 3* or 3.5*, do you think that is possible? We'd take advice, as well, if there are other ideas. Hotwire has a 3* in Raleigh Downtown for $53...
  24. Ok, closing this thread. Girl took a chance on a 2.5* in Hells Kitchen and got a Holiday Inn Express. She seemed ok with it. I don't know what amenities there were. O_o Sorry. But thanks for your help.
  25. I only see search boxes and this text below, no red border, no tabs. Who knows? Welcome to Bidding Helper The Best, Fastest, and Easiest Way to Research and Compare Hotel Rates for Priceline and Hotwire Purchases 1.Enter your travel information in the search box above 2.Bidding Helper will return rates from Priceline, Hotwire, and Hotels.com 3.Click any of the tabs to see and compare rates from that travel provider OK, she emailed me about this one. <dead link removed> Its a 3* MSG for $282. I can't get amenities to come up for me at all. She really liked that it was highly rated by people (this is important to her, more than getting a 4* with a low approval rating), 90%, and said she just may pick it and take her chances. If she does, I'll let you know.
