Hello! Please help with a bidding strategy for NYC for May 16-20. We'd like a 4* under $170 if possible, getting the lowest price we can. Near a subway (so no MTW? If I can remember), and steering clear of boutique hotels (tiny rooms) if possible. Manhattan midtown-ish, please no Financial District or UES. Will stay in TS and such but would rather have a little away -- last time stayed in the Row in TS and it was noisy. Location was great but had to get earplugs to sleep from all the siren noise! It may be early yet, we will bid to try to get the best deal probably once weekly until say, March and then start looking on Priceline Express and Hotwire and checking out other sites. Will book a cancelable room just in case. Of course, will always use your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to click from here. Thank you again, so SO much!

Hi. I would like to book Atlantic City Sept 4-6 with a casino that is not a Trump hotel (hopefully on the beachfront, but not a dealbreaker). Any way of doing this through Priceline or Hotwire and avoid that or should I just book directly? Thanks!

I wasn't zippy excited about the Radisson, so I took a chance and booked the $118 boutique (which climbed up one whole dollar since I originally posted this thread, to $119). Total came to $296.81 for the two nights, taxes and fees. Saves me nearly $58 from my original Doubletree reservation. You were correct: The Wyndham at Playhouse Square. Thank you for all your help.

a 3* popped up when I looked just now, $70 and with 100% recommended. I'm curious. Full amenities free internet, fitness center, restaurant(s), business center, self-service laundry, internet access, golf nearby, tennis nearby, roll-in shower. The 4* $118 is only 70% recommended, so I'm thinking... any ideas? I always use your links! and thank you guys for all you do. :D

Ok, I booked the Fairfax at Embassy Row for $150 (taxes and fees included), nothing seems better from Hotwire or Priceline. Total $300. It is cancelable through 2/27, so if you think a Price.line bid would get us a better hotel in Dupont up to a $111 bid (which matches my Fairfax win once you add all the fees in there), I'll give it a shot, but I think I got a good deal. It's not through you, so to be nice I'll spend some time clicking on your links for a while today. ;)

Hi, I would like a bidding strategy for a 4* for Downtown, Downtown-White House, Dupont, Convention Center, or Capitol Hill. Some areas are popping up an additional hotel fee -- $34.50 (Downtown) and $31.50 (Dupont). I'd like to stay under $200 total with Priceline fees and taxes, so that would mean a high bid of $82 in areas without a hotel fee, $69 in Dupont and $68 for Downtown. Dupont is where we would choose if we could. We'd like a 4* but if we try for a while and nothing hits we'll be willing to drop to a 3.5*. Thank you!

OK! I bit on your PRICELINE EXPRESS suggestion! Got the Aria as suspected, although it was $241/night, not $231 and I bought the insurance and protection on the flight and hotel since DH's parents are elderly...I hope I didn't freaking jump the gun, but airfare was looking good and kayak said it was recommended to buy now as prices would rise.

Once you added in all hotwire fees, ect, total was $139.96. Website rate with all taxes and fees: $144.48. So not even a $5 savings. :(

I've stayed in Vegas three times. First time, Mirage, 5 years ago in October, I didn't have the nerve. Second time, NYNY about 4 years ago in October, asked for a complimentary upgrade and didn't offer a tip. They pulled out a sheet with room descriptions and told me the prices of upgrading...which we just said we'd stay with the hotel we booked (through this site and through Hotwire)...and they upgraded us anway. Quite frankly, a strip view in the NYNY is not that great -- the roller coaster right beside the room. It was just a little bigger room, and we had to walk what seemed like a mile to get to it. Third time was 2 years ago in April, MGM. The hotel was booked not through this site but as a good package deal. I did the $20 trick, and was upgraded to the same type room but with a strip view and given two breakfast buffets for it. Another hotel where we had to walk forever to get to, not sure if we'd have had the same if we took the original room, but the buffets were nice and we tanked up before our flight home. I think the $20 was worth it -- checking the prices a strip room (at the time) was only $5 more a night which made up for the $20, so we just got free breakfast but hey -- free breakfast. We are thinking of going again and staying at a 5* this time, and yes -- will try the trick again. I think if you want an upgrade to book the room you want, and make sure the next upgrade up is quite a step up $$$ wise.

I did a search through Kayak. Flight alone is $1211 and flight + hotel (the Indigo in Tower Hill, for 2 guests) is $1780 per person for 6 nights, that's $189 a night. This is today, of course, and we will of course use your Expe.dia or other link should that be what Kayak is telling us. Currently, Hot.wire only gives us 2 4* hotels in that same area (City of London-Towerbridge) as the Indigo, at $206 and $209. The problem is we really want to make sure we know what hotel we are getting for our first trip...can't predict that on Hot.wire or Price.line. Also we are not flying out of a hub airport. The nearest is at least a 3 hour drive, one we don't like to add on to an already long trip. So we pay much more for that convenience. ;)

Hey, there. Ok, so we have decided to book an air/hotel package directly through a company online -- it will be easier and is comparable based on my research. I did a search and made a list of hotels that were under a certain price and near the Underground. When we are ready to book, we will look them up on Tripadvisor and book the hotel with the higher rating (based on the #). So far, that looks like it will be Hotel Indigo London - Tower Hill, but could be Hotel Indigo London Kensington - Earl's Court, but either way -- won't be using Hot.wire or Price.line for this one. I don't know what I want really. See the sights, take a tour of Beatles landmarks (for sure), see a show in the West End, maybe a day tour to Stratford-on-Avon or Stonebridge, stuff like that. My husband is not comfortable to drive, so we won't be renting a car. I'd like a 4* hotel. I understand the star ratings are higher than in the US, so a 3.5* here would be a 4* there. I'd like to stay under $200. If we go, those are our dates. Thanks for your help!

Hubby and I are considering London trip in September, probably Sept. 8-14 (though we are flexible). We aren't committed to it, we are also thinking Vegas, but it's a big birthday (one that ends with 0 for him), and we want to celebrate and, while we love Vegas, are thinking maybe something different. We have never been to London. We would like easy access to public transportation (Underground if possible, but taxi ok) and an interesting, safe area. We want to do the touristy things, but are also big Beatles and theatre fans, so maybe that will help with any advice you could give us. Should we risk trying Price.line or just stick with Hot.wire, or would it just be easier to book a package through the airline? Of course, I always use your links. ;) Thanks! S.
