  4. I am trying to get to Chicago this fall. I guess the days of $50 rooms are OVER. :(

Oh well. I tried to bid for the above dates on Sunday. Targeting 4.5* North Michigan Avenue.

    100 (Failed)

115 - added free zones (FAILED)

    120- added free zones (FAILED)

I hit my psychological limit. So, I checked Hotwire and I think that this is an 'expensive weekend' in Chicago. I'll try in a few weeks. If that doesn't work, then I will go during the holidays.

  5. Perfect! I needed a pet-friendly hotel ($25 per stay). I stay here a lot. Given the options, I am most comfortable with this location.

  6. Used PRICELINE Express for this bid.

    Showed as:

Pets Allowed | Restaurant | Business Center | Fitness Center

    Rate 9.0 out of 10

In this case it appears that the traveler's ratings are the same as what is on the Priceline site. I hoped for this hotel or one of the Kimptons. Very pleased.

I will keep an eye on future bids using this service. It seems almost too good to be true. We are sort of snobbish when it comes to hotels and have a short list of favorites in Chicago. In this case, the traveler's rating appeared to be consistent to the ratings on the Priceline site and I could isolate the potential hotels. If this continues to hold true I will definitely use this feature in the future.

  7. Hello! I used the HOTWIRE link to book.

I won the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood Beach (one of my favorite beaches in South Florida) for May 10 - 13. I'm very excited!

    Amenities:

    Resort

    Near Beach

    Fitness Center

    Pool(s)

    Restaurant(s)

    Business Center

    High-Speed Internet Access

    Golf Nearby

    Spa Services

Additional details...It also included a "room choice" and there was a 95% customer rating.

I love this resort. I also love the price.

  8. I am a Kimpton fan and I wanted to be close to Union Station. So, I targeted the Convention Ctr - Capitol Hill zone because I really wanted the Hotel George. However, I would have been cool with any of the 4*s.

Started with 3/31 - 4/4...Started at $130. Bid in $5.00 increments up to the free zones. Stopped at $155. No dice.

Our dates are flexible so we changed the dates to 4/1 - 4/5...Started at $130 went up by $5.00 increments. Won the Hotel Palomar - $155.

I started with the link. Not sure if I ended with the links. I'll hook the board up ;).

  9. Hi!

I started bidding for Saturday 4/9 for five nights...No dice. I found out that Lady Gaga will be in town that weekend, so they may be expecting more people.

I tried for that Sunday...I think it is the weekend of the New Orleans .

I tried for that Monday and it went through! Yay!

Please let me know if you received credit for me going through the PRICELINE link. I started that way, but not sure if I finished.

  10. Given the prices and the fact that Chicago can be fairly busy with conventions and other business-related goings-on in the Fall, you will need to boost your bid somewhat higher. I'm seeing prices for 4*'s around $250-300+ on Orbitz & Expedia. I think $125-135 is probably going to be a more likely neighborhood where you *may* be accepted, but I'd still try the prices in-between ($95, 100, 105...etc) since you have the time.

Thanks Aaron! I'll up the bid a little bit.

I'll update this thread as I progress. :)

  11. Hi all!

I am going to see a concert at the Chicago Theatre (on State Street) :) . I would like to stay at a 4* in the Loop or on NMA (and cab it to the theatre). The prices in those areas are around $200+. I started at $70 and bid up to $85 (and used up my free bid zones). No dice.

North Michigan Ave - River North Area $65 (declined)

Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area $70\ (declined)

    Lincoln Park $75 (declined)

    Midway Airport Area $80 (declined)

    O'Hare Airport (ORD) $85 (declined)

    Skokie - Niles - Evanston $90 (declined)

When prices of the hotels are that much, how much do you think is a reasonable bid? Should I go somewhere in the area of $100 or $125?

    TIA!
