  4. Hello there. I'm happy. I really like the Aria. I had an existing reservation averaging $189 per night. I saved a little bit of money with this one. 5. We decided to change the dates to a cheaper period of time (thanksgiving holiday). Not bidding because my mom insists on staying at the Conrad.
  6. I am trying to get to Chicago this fall. I guess the days of $50 rooms are OVER. :( Oh well. I tried to bid for the above dates on Sunday. Targeting 4.5* North Michigan Avenue. 100 (Failed) 115 - added free zones (FAILED) 120- added free zones (FAILED) I hit my psychological limit. So, I checked Hotwire and I think that this is an 'expensive weekend' in Chicago. I'll try in a few weeks. If that doesn't work, then I will go during the holidays.
  7. Perfect! I needed a pet-friendly hotel ($25 per stay). I stay here a lot. Given the options, I am most comfortable with this location. 9. I am looking for the same dates. I would like to see what you come up with. My first choice is the Westin Imagine or the J.W. Marriott ;)
  10. Used PRICELINE Express for this bid. Showed as: Pets Allowed | Restaurant | Business Center | Fitness Center Rate 9.0 out of 10 In this case it appears that the traveler's ratings are the same as what is on the Priceline site. I hoped for this hotel or one of the Kimptons. Very pleased. I will keep an eye on future bids using this service. It seems almost too good to be true. We are sort of snobbish when it comes to hotels and have a short list of favorites in Chicago. In this case, the traveler's rating appeared to be consistent to the ratings on the Priceline site and I could isolate the potential hotels. If this continues to hold true I will definitely use this feature in the future.
  11. Hello. I started at $75 and used free rebid at $5.00 increments. Not pleased with win. I stayed there a few years ago and was less than impressed. I did use the PRICELINE link. :)
  12. That 85% customer reviews is what concerns me. I am not exactly sure if those really make a difference, but if the number was 95% customer reviews I would be more confident that it is the Diplomat. Especially if you are paying $184 a night.
  13. Hello! I used the HOTWIRE link to book. I won the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood Beach (one of my favorite beaches in South Florida) for May 10 - 13. I'm very excited! Amenities: Resort Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Spa Services Additional details...It also included a "room choice" and there was a 95% customer rating. I love this resort. I also love the price.
  14. I am a Kimpton fan and I wanted to be close to Union Station. So, I targeted the Convention Ctr - Capitol Hill zone because I really wanted the Hotel George. However, I would have been cool with any of the 4*s. Started with 3/31 - 4/4...Started at $130. Bid in $5.00 increments up to the free zones. Stopped at $155. No dice. Our dates are flexible so we changed the dates to 4/1 - 4/5...Started at $130 went up by $5.00 increments. Won the Hotel Palomar - $155. I started with the link. Not sure if I ended with the links. I'll hook the board up ;).
  15. Interesting thing to note...The rate was originally showed at $85 per night, but somehow some way I ended up at $98 per night. I did play around with the trip insurance. Of course, Hotwire wouldn't refund my money. :) ETA: We chose double beds. That is probably the issue with the additional cost.
  16. I got the Diplomat! This is my first choice. :) Resort Bed Choice Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Spa Services 95% Customers would recommend
  17. Yes. That is correct. Also, the dates were April 11 - 16. Sorry for any confusion! :)
  18. Hi! I started bidding for Saturday 4/9 for five nights...No dice. I found out that Lady Gaga will be in town that weekend, so they may be expecting more people. I tried for that Sunday...I think it is the weekend of the New Orleans . I tried for that Monday and it went through! Yay! Please let me know if you received credit for me going through the PRICELINE link. I started that way, but not sure if I finished.
  19. Shows as - Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Business Center, High Speed Internet Very happy. I love the Kimpton brand. Forgot to use the HOTWIRE links, I deposited money via Paypal (I totally forgot to put my username in the paypal - "Board Contribution").
  20. I am looking the same weekend. I have noticed that the prices have fell in the past couple of days. I know that the block of hotels for one of the conferences (WEFTC) are being released on the 19th. So, my plan is to continue to look or book on Quikbook or EasyClickTravel.
  21. I have stayed at the Ambassador East (when it was an Omni hotel). We weren't that impressed, but the hotel was cheap and it was clean and the service was nice. Good luck!
  22. Oops! I didn't bid there. I'll clean up the previous post. I definitely don't want to stay in the O'Hare zone. I have trouble accessing the PRICELINE link from within certain firewalls. I'll contribute via Paypal. :)
  23. Thanks Aaron! I'll up the bid a little bit. I'll update this thread as I progress. :)
  24. Hi all! I am going to see a concert at the Chicago Theatre (on State Street) :) . I would like to stay at a 4* in the Loop or on NMA (and cab it to the theatre). The prices in those areas are around $200+. I started at $70 and bid up to $85 (and used up my free bid zones). No dice. North Michigan Ave - River North Area $65 (declined) Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area $70\ (declined) Lincoln Park $75 (declined) Midway Airport Area $80 (declined) O'Hare Airport (ORD) $85 (declined) Skokie - Niles - Evanston $90 (declined) When prices of the hotels are that much, how much do you think is a reasonable bid? Should I go somewhere in the area of $100 or $125? TIA!
