  1. Thank you BLINDMAN you are right i made the booking - details - 2 x $49 - $98 tax/fees $19.32 total = $117.32 this is the cost for two nights for two adults and a teenager we can also arrange to cllect the car the day after we get to phoenix instead of when we first arrive after a long day of travelling i am pleased with this hotel - rated No 3 in popularity for phoenix (and there are many good hotels in phoenix) costs should be around $280 - $300 so quite a saving too - used link to HOTWIRE thanks for your help
  2. i requested help to identify 2.5* hotel facilities - shuttle, business, fitness, pool, laundry, highspeed internet and comp breakfast blindman suggested it was The Holiday Inn Express, University Drive, Phoenix - based on this info I booked for a one night stay at the end of my holiday (just to check) - booking made for Sunday 30th March for one night - cost = 1 x $49 tax/fees $13.23 total cost $62.23 this hotel rates as no 3 favourite of 153 on tripadvisor - so obviously good reviews checked ebookers and holiday inn sites - published rates for two adults and a child are between $140 + $150. i will now book for my original request nights 15-17 March 2008 - i used HOTWIRE link to make my bookings Thanks Blindman and Thereuare :)
  3. hotel flagged as best value 2.5* airport hotel - amenities are:- shuttle, fitness centre, business centre, highspeed internet access, comp breakfast, pool and laundry i've looked through list of known hotels but have been unable to identify this one
  4. :) we certainly did NOT have to pay a resort fee when we stayed here ....although i have been stung like this with other resorts 'won' through priceline...
  5. i stayed here last easter and there are all sorts of add on fees and taxes - resort fee and beach tax are two that i recall - obviously with hotwire these were covered i think the beach tax was $5+ i've just checked my booking for last year - we paid $414 with additional $116 in taxes (6 nights) they do seem to have hiked the add on charges this year......
  6. thanks thereuare it may be as well to book a 'back up' and to carry on looking when i do book i will use the savings barn link to PRICELINE or hotwire
  7. :) hello i am looking for reasonably priced accommodation for my son and his girlfriend - they really will just sleep at the hotel as most days they will be with us at the Desert Ridge or Marriott canyon villas in north phoenix - this year our own accommodation will not be big enough for them to stay with us. i found the following on hotwire - 3* metro centre/glendale suite, fitness, business, high speed internet, comp breakfast, pool, laundry and kitchenette does anyone know what it might be? The cost is $49 per night august 4 - 18. Is it too early to be rushing to book for phoenix? I have not risked priceline since i ended up at the scottsdale plaza two years ago (once bitten.....) but as they only need a room for two and will only be sleeping there.....
  8. i don't know what this hotel is but there are hotel shuttles at heathrow there is one hotel that links to terminal 4 (british airways terminal) and this is the hilton
  9. sorry thereuare the icons are - fitness, pool, restaurant and business centre - you are quite correct - the shuttle icon is no longer there hope that this helps
  10. very good reviews on tripadvisor - a new hotel - opened in november 2006 with official opening in march 2007 - now may be a good time to get deals :)
  11. Using hotwire i have just booked one night at the crowne plaza stockley road heathrow airport LONDON one night X $69.00 taxes = $18.69 total cost = $87.69 (around 45 GB POUNDS) Intercontinental site - at (105 GB pounds) = approx $200
  12. :) the hotel turns out to be - Quincy market/financial district The Intercontinental Atlantic Avenue Boston 4.5* at $119 x 5 nights - (feb 11th - 16th) = $595 taxes and fees = $73.38 total = $668.38 as i am travelling with my son i have requested a room for two adults and two children - i worry about the size of some city hotel rooms - so this will be fine i checked the intercontinental site and they quote $319 + tax = $350 per night so around $1750 in total so a considerable saving a new hotel for the area :)
  13. thanks thereuare i'll have a look at the merits of the harbourside and will then commence with booking something when we do - we will use the HOTWIRE link
  14. i just tried this for a stay at london gatwick and the code was invalid - always worth a try
  15. i have started to look for a hotel for next month and noticed this one 4.5* Quincy market/Financial district facilities include - fitness centre, restaurant, laundry facilites, spa, pool, business centre and high speed internet access i couldn't find a hotel to match on the list but perhaps it is one of the two 4.5* shown with an expanded list of amenities it is $119 (two adults and two children) - showing a saving of 55% ($262) the two 4.5 * listed are the langham and nine zero thanks for any help you can give :)
  16. i have stayed at the hyatt regency several times and would recommend it at that price :)
  17. sheraton skyline 4*, bath road, hayes, heathrow airport one night - tuesday 28th nov to wed 29th nov cost $99 + taxes and fees = $123 (
  18. second booking for 3 nights 30th nov (thurs) to 3rd dec (sunday)- BACK BAY and COPLEY 3.5* customer favourite best value sheraton, dalton street pool, restaurant, business centre, fitness centre and high speed internet access cost was $109 X 3 nights + tax = $367 rate on sheraton site was $259 per night it isn't really a big deal changing hotels - it is just a short taxi ride between two the customer favourite thing fooled me a little - i was half expecting the hilton - it is as short as it is long..... :)
  19. i decided to split the booking (both with hotwire) one for the night of 29th nov (wed) - DOWNTOWN/CHARLESTOWN 3.5 * customer favourite hyatt regency. lafayette street pool, restaurant, business centre, fitness centre and high speed internet access cost was $165 + tax = $189 i found a rate on hyatt for $269 :)
  20. i am looking for a hotel in the downtown/quincy market/back bay areas of boston for four nights hotwire has a 3.5* customer favourite for $186 for the four nights ($840 in total) but i believe the same hotel for $109 a night for three nights - 30th november until 3rd december the city rates as a whole are high for the wednesday (29th) and i wonder if there is something i should know before trying to book rooms the way things look at the moment, if the trip goes ahead, the sensible thing to do would be to split the booking into two parts could anyone enlighten me? :)
  21. :) well the reviews are still not great but..... on doing research into this hotel i noticed that it does not have a restaurant only a breakfast room it was listed on hotwire as having a restaurant i contacted hotwire and they were very helpful - they offered two solutions 1) cancel the booking and receive $50 hot dollars OR 2) keep the booking and receive $198 hot dollars my friend is happy to keep the booking (not sure if i would) so has got himself a cheap deal i will now have a year to use the hot dollars :)
  22. although the price was okay and saved a fair bit off another sellers price i looked the hotel up on tripadvisor - it has some shocking reviews... i wrote to HOTWIRE to query the rating and after a week they wrote back assuring me that they are confident that it is infact 3.5* equivalent - they gave a phone number to ring should there be any problems on check in.. i hope it is not as bad as some of the reviews suggest. : :)
  23. thanks for the swift reply i may well try priceine michele
