  3. i have checked my winning bids and can see no change in the status of any of the hotels i have used boston - the hyatt and sheraton at the airport are still coming up as 4*
  4. my husband doesn't want to change hotels so i will look for four nights at the airport we usually end up at the hyatt or hilton and pay between $65 and $75 so perhaps i do need to wait a while i have tried a couple of times since my first post and have gone up to $93 but not any luck i noticed today a 3.5* option so also tried this .....and bid up to $85 ..again no luck i will keep trying and will use the PRICELINE link on this site to try for bids when i get the hotel sorted i will try for my car thanks for your help
  5. thanks liset i think we usually pay around 60+ when we have stayed at the hyatt or hilton in the past we stayed there at the same time last year and in february and know the rates were quite a lot lower than they appear to be at the moment i think you may be right about booking too early ....i think i booked much closer to the trip on the last two occasions i'll keep trying michele :)
  6. i have been unsuccessfully trying for a 4* hotel at the airport for a stay between 27th november and 1st july i have bid using free bids up to $91 i have found a hotel i believe to be the hyatt (theatre district) for around $109 but at the moment my husband is keen to stay out at the airport ....ease of access when we go out shopping to the outlets and the T into town i started my bids at $67 and have gone up to $91 do you think i will need to increase my bid by much more?
  7. when using hotwire, to get two beds i usually add kids into the booking even if i am not travelling with any - four people usually equates to two beds.....never been a problem yet if you try hotwire with two adults to find cost and then two adults and two kids, you will see if there is any additional charge (may well not be) as for breakfast i can't say...... have a good trip
  8. previously booked a room for 14th march at this rate so expected $65 to be accepted =it was so 2 rooms at $65 = $161 marriott manchester airport manchester lowest marriott site is $150 + per room
  9. one night stay at $65 so including fees and taxes total cost is $83.98 marriott site - lowest rate is $130 + first bid
  10. arrive wed 20th and depart sunday 24th february started at $61 and went up to $ 75 had previously tried all areas of town with 4* and had gone up to $85 without success (having added in free zones too) just tried today as going away in a few days so costs are - 4 x $75 = $300 taxes and fees = $49.17 total cost = $349.17 hyatt website has this hotel at $259 x 2 and $209 and $249 = $976 so quite a saving against the hyatt rate i've stayed here before and will use the water shuttle to get into town
  11. started to bid at $42 rejected but with an offer to increase bid by $11 (3* available with hotwire for $52) bid a couple of days later and successful at $45 Raddisson airport hotel so 2 rooms at $45 + taxes and fees $109 Radisson site = $199 so a good saving for one night we've stayed there before and it was fine (recently refurbished)
  12. i am about to look for a hotel for four nights - 20th to 24th february i would prefer downtown but when i look at the options on priceline it is not listed, yet i see winning bids in this area on bb help please :)
  13. the desert ridge is a nice hotel i have stayed here often in the summer - and have never got a deal through priceline it is well over $100 in the heat of summer, so you got a good deal you might want to request a higher floor room - they have good views have a good stay
  14. what a great deal..................almost worth making a trip to new york for pity it has gone have a great stay..................
  15. it is my birthday in january and i have been going nuts trying to decide where to go i did want hawaii but the length of journey makes it unreasonable for a week and a bit i have always wanted to see monument valley - so this is my next great plan we would fly direct to phoenix and then drive north............ is this a sensible plan? i have checked the weather and although cold there seems to be little precipitation..........i don't mind the cold so this wouldn't put me off we would book a timeshare week in phoenix but expect to spend a few days near the monument parks is kayenta the best choice for accommodation? any advice would be gratefully received thanks :)
  16. four nights at $67 total cost - 4 x $67 tax + fees $44.95 total $312.95 hilton site - lowest rate was $149 + tax = $670 for the four nights so a saving a $350 ************************************************************** started at $60 - was offered a deal if i increased offer by $17 - added free bids and went up to $67 which was accepted all bidding today

  18. thanks dahammer as you might imagine my son is thrilled...
  19. the annual insurance works out to be around $200 - but this can be divided over three trips - five days in nov, two weeks in march and two weeks in august - so around 33 days - so a daily rate of $6+ a day (considerably less than the daily rates we would pay with pay as you go insurance unfortunately we don't have a cc to give free insurance (what a nice idea) as we are UK visitors to US oh well, spring training and high taxes all conspiring against me i'll give it a determined go to secure a car soon and if all else fails i'll take the package and use annual policy for nov and next aug (still a good deal) thanks for your help, i'll let you know what happens
  20. ditto we have some marriott time on a timeshare (up to four weeks ) and some interval international getaeays are useful too we obviously need to seek out more timeshare deals to tide us over until we retire and can roam around from place to place like timeshare/priceline/nomads - only another 20 years to go then! :)
  21. okay thereuare here goes preferred dates - 3/16/08 - 11.00am to 3/30/08 at 8.00pm car price checker gave me - premium with dollar 829, fullsize with dollar $606 HOTWIRE premium $680 and fullsize ]$521 $28.95 a day $23.95 a day the back up does not have a car price without insurance to show a true comparison - but is showing itself to be good value at the moment the back up is with airline-network.co.uk - i have used them before but thought that if i bought my insurance for the year and managed to get some good rates for the cars it would be worth it to use hotwire or priceline (or both for the three trips)
  22. lovely hotel but only two people in a room no room or option for rollaway bed here if you need a room for two or more they have wickedly expensive suites
  23. shock! horror! i've just found out that filene's basement in boston is closed until spring 2009 can anyone recommend an alternative shopping fix? i love to rummage through this store (although my family hate it) and will miss the frantic bargain hunting on my next trips to boston - is there anywhere else i can visit to relieve the shopaholic urges? :)
  24. :) we are holidaying in the south west again next spring - we are really hooked on the arizona and californian deserts - and need a car there are just three of us but we want to be comfortable so fullsize is our lowest preferred car choice i have bid three times over the past week or so starting with premium at $22 and fullsize at $18 - to no avail as we are many months away there is no rush and i have a back up option of a car with full insurances with UK operator for between 300 gb pounds ($600 )and 330 gb pounds ($660) - but would prefer to take out an annual insurance to cover thisl, our summer trip next august and a week in boston in nov. i was heartened to see similar dates (early march) with a standard being achieved for $14 by a recent bidder so hoped that i was on the right track i now defer to the experts in this market and would appreciate any help - we can collect the car on 16th to extend our bidding options but as we would want it on am of 16th know that we will pay for two weeks plus one day if we collect it late on 15th or on 16th thanks obviosly will bid through savingsbarn link when i try for the vehicle
