  1. That hotel often shows up on priceline for about $50. I stayed there a little while ago and it is very nice. It is close to great shopping and Yorkville where there are lot of good restaurants and trendy cafes and its right on the subway line. Only complaint was that the room was as far from the elevators as it could be. The way the hotel is laid out there is a big courtyard in the middle so it a bit of a hike. A friend was staying there the at the same time on another priceline stay and was right above us two floors up. Not a big deal but it made us laugh that these rooms seemed picked for priceline.
  2. Bid $75 and Priceline countered with $22 increase. Added free re-bid and increased to $75 and accepted at Intercontinental Montreal. Interestingly I stayed at the 4* Boneventure Hilton last summer and paid $91 for that stay. Taxes and priceline fee were $18.68. This year the bid/cost is $16 less and the taxes are $2.67 higher so obvoiusly Priceline are taking a bigger cut. Part of the difference can be accounted for in the increase in the Canadian dollar-but not that much.
  3. Got this on the first bid using savingsbarn link. Best rate is on the website is $129.
  4. Just got back from a trip to France & picked up my car at Park2go on Dowd avenue. Big mistake not walking around the car before I drove away. Once I got to PA on the way home I stopped for gas and found the bumper scraped and a fist sized dent in the fender. I have called/e-mailed them for a week now and they refuse to talk to me.
  5. Got this hotel for 2 nights for $42/night. Great location in downtown Burlington with a view of Lake Champlain & New York state. I doubt however you will get a room with a view. The hotel accomodated our request for two double beds with no problem but this was one of the few times I have felt that I got the dreaded "Priceline room" The room itself was fine but it was as far from the elevators as it could be and the view was of the mall and parking lot behind. Maid service was a little odd. There were four of us in the room & for some reason the maid replaced our four towels with two.... Oh well it was a great rate and a great location for a weekend of skiing. The pool and hot tub were good also & I would stay there again. If I had to pay rack rate I would probably take a look at the new Courtyard being built next door.
  6. Hyatt is right by the Exchange Place station which takes you to the World Trade Centre, Doubletree is less than a 10 minute walk from Pavonia-Newport station, probably closer to 5 minutes really. And finally the Courtyard is on top of the Pavonia-Newport station. As for the other I really am not sure where it is.
  7. Got this on first bid using Savings Barn link, internet rate is $150 CAD
  8. You can use Priceline but there is a small problem when you put your address. Just put the state as Ca,California & ZIP code 99999 & that will work fine. The other problem is some Canadian credit cards are not accepted. You usually have no problem with Mastercard & Amex but I had a problem with my RBC Visa for a long time & then I tried it one day and it worked fine. Good luck.
  9. Bid for this three weeks ago and accepted on the second bid for this hotel. Web site price is about 285 Euros which is about $340 USD. Used savings barnlink. Need another night after my stay at La Defense. Its about four stops on the metro so shouldn't be too hard making the move & we will be in the centre of things for one night at least.
  10. Started at $75 for this hotel and accepted on the second bid after I added Opera West zone. There are four star hotels in that zone but I was declined at $120 on a separate bid in that zone for the same dates so I felt I was safe. Got the hotel I was hoping for. Best rate on the web site is 135 euros, about $160USD.
  11. Accepted on the first bid for $42 using Savings Barn link. Information found here was invaluable for this bid. Thanks.
  12. Started with Parsippany-Hanover, added Morristown & finally accepted when I added E Hanover Livingston.
  13. Got this using savings barn link. Started at $40,increased to $45 & finally accepted at $48, added additional areas each time as it didn't matter which area I ended up in. Got the hotel I wanted in the area I wanted. Thanks.
  14. Started at $60 & added two free rebids before accepted at the Hilton for $64,approx $77 including fees and taxes.
  15. Got this on first bid. Used Saving barn link. Very pleased as it was exactly what I wanted for a visit to Steamtown.
  16. Started at $70 for this and used free rebids at $75,80 85 & finally accepted for $91. It is the middle of the Jazz festival & Canada Day weekend so that is one reason it took so much to get accepted. The Hilton web site shows best rate of 190USD so its not a bad deal.
  17. Started at $45 in Morristown zone, increased to $55 & added Parsippany/Hanover also rejected so added East Hanover & increased to $61 which was accepted. Hotel web site shows rate of $220 so I am happy with what I got. Used savings barn link.
  18. Bid 2.5* Markham $30, 2.5* Vaughan increased to $36, 2.5* Don Valley $40 & finally accepted at $41 for the Marriott and upgraded to 3*. Used savingsbarn link.
  19. Bid 3*$45 and was rejected, added 2.5* and bid $41 which was accepted for Nov 17. Breakfast is included and the hotel has an indoor pool so I am pretty happy with the result. Used savingsbarn link.
  20. Sorry, yes I was accepted at $45 on the first try-a little surprised that adding Friday night resulted in acceptance of my bid. It's a very nice hotel that I have stayed a a few times before.
  21. On two separate occasions I bid for two nights, May 22 & 23 & bid from $45 up to $55 using free rebids. I was refused both times. I then started a new bid adding Friday night May 21st and was accepted oon the first try.
  22. Got this yesterday for $67 plus $15.95 fees. As I had hoped it was the Hyatt Jersey City on the Hudson where I stayed with priceline in December. it is a great hotel and very convenient to Manhatten with the PATH train. I also was able to use the discount code mentioned elsewhere(giftcard06) saving another $10. Thanks for all your help-much appreciated. It was my first Hotwire experience and while I am happy with the result it did not go too well. I used the link you mention but after trying my offer about 10 times I called Hotwire for help. I have a Canadian address and I kept getting error messages re the phone number & zip code. It took the guy at Hotwire a while to figure it out too but he was vague as to what the problem was. Unfortunately I expect I will have the same problem if I use Hotwire again. Any Canadians with similar experience?
  23. got this on first bid with National, a bit surprised really as I thought I had lowballed but very pleased with result. First time renting a car with Priceline. Taxes, fees etc came to $66
