I suspect I am bidding on the Four Seasons, Denver.
The median retail price per night is $309 and I started my bidding at 60% off of that and went up from there. I added areas and eventually got up to $218pn (approx 30% off suggested price) but was also rejected.
What is a reasonable % off the retail price that I can expect if I'm to be successful with bidding?
I've been trying for days to get SF lodging for October 19-21. The prices are astronomical - apparently this is a very popular time of year to travel there. Today, I decided to split the bid so that the first night will be spent close to SF airport and then hopefully we will be able to splurge on the 2nd night in the city. (I've stayed near SFO many times and it is a nice area. There are some great restaurants in Burlingame.) I feel good about having this bid accepted. Now on to round 2!
Help! Oct 19-21: better to wait? I've been trying for 2+ days and have made numerous bids. I can't seem to find anything (3 1/2 stars or more)in SF for under $200. Is it better to wait a few days? Do prices generally come down closer to the actual date? Any thoughts on best time to try again?
I lost count of the number of rejected bids I placed on 3 1/2* & 4* hotels for this SF overnight... It was incredibly discouraging - and obviously going to be far outside my budget. Although I can't say I am excited about staying in a Holiday Inn, I believe I got a decent, if not great price for lodging that is centrally located. And, of course I used the BetterBidding.com PRICELINE link to make my reservation. :)
Finally, I won my Priceline auction after two weeks of daily bidding!! (it's been very frustrating and a lot of rejection!) We really wanted to stay in San Francisco, but the first weekend in October was proving impossible with our budget of $125 max & a minimum of 3.5*... We decided to stay across the bay because public transportation to SF is both excellent and fast. The Hilton Concord provides free shuttle service to the BART station so it should be easy to get to & from the city. I am reasonably pleased with our price of $75 for the night, especially during such a busy time of year for this area. Amenities: High speed internet access Heated Pool Exercise Gym Business Center free shuttles within a 3-mile radius Pets Allowed No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Parking Television with Cable I used the BB PRICELINE link, naturally!
