  1. We recently stayed at Crowne Plaza on Habour Drive - Redondo Beach for only $69 per night from Hotwire. Dates: 6th, 7th & 8th September 2010. The price was on Priceline for $99. I had made a bid on priceline for $56 but was rejected. I took the chance with Hotwire when I saw a 3.5* hotel for $69 that it was the Crowne Plaza and it was. Very happy with the hotel, location, service & cleaniness. We had 2 Double beds with a view of the harbour. I had read some mixed reviews about this hotel, but it was better than expected - Very happy. Especially since we only paid $69 p/n. Amenties: Gym, pool, restaurant, Laundry, High speed internet, tennis court near by.
  2. Hi bidders, We have had our stay here at the Tremont hotel (100 E Chesnut St) and it was a lovely hotel with a charming atomosphere, yes it's dated but that's what makes it special. It's 16 floors with slow elevators (we were on the 15th floor). At first we were given a very small room ( adults and 2 kids) with no room to move, I called to reception and asked to be upgraded (as per phone conversation pior to arrival) and we were upgraded for $20 per night to a king bed with a crib and we had room to blow up our mattress for our 4yr old. The service was friendly and helpful. John the bellman was awesome. The best part of this location is the Starbucks across the road, 1 block back from N Michigan Ave and only 15 minutes stroll to Navy Pier & only 5 blocks walk to the Chicago Red line Trains to catch to the Sears/Willis Towers, which is well worth the $13. It was perfect for us as a travelling family. Chicago is a great city we loved it.
  3. Stayed 1 night on the 13th August at Ramada Limited Redondo Beach. Won $45 a night. Double with Fold up bed with no room to move. The smallest room in the hotel. But it was clean and close to everything we needed. ie friends house and Pier. The best part of this hotel was the Waffle machine. Service was average. Hotel is small. Ideal for 1 person not for 2 Adults and 2 kids. I did call ahead of time asking for a big room with double bed or king with fold out bed or crib. This was not set up when we arrived, we had to ask. They ignored my request and this was the only room available. I guess that's what you get for $45 a night. The rooms go for $56 a night but not worth it unless it it's just for 1 person.
  4. Ok we stayed here at the Embassy Suite and I must say it was the BEST!!! ... However we paid for an upgrade. Instead of having 2 doubles on the 15th - 23rd floor we got upgraded (for $50 plus taxes) per night to be on the 40th floor with view of BOTH falls with King and Jacuzzi and a seperate room / lounge room with TV and fold away bed for the kids which was ideal for us to give us some privacy and they had their own tv. After paying for parking which is $30 plus tips per day and paying for tips for bags to be bought up and tips for breakfast and valet parking and upgrade plus taxes, taxes and more taxes... yes it was still worth it but it ended up costing approx $350 per night with all that extra taxes and tips for everything. We loved the floor 9 breakfast buffet, we stocked up on fruit for our daily trips. We defantly got our money worth there. The hotel is VERY clean and VVERy friendly. Apart from the price it was Awesome. The Oaks is right next door and the Casino is next to that. The Oaks would have been a good choice too but it's not as high, maybe 25 floors, not sure.
  5. Yes I saw those packages, I wanted the 2 nites package with a chance to win a trip to hawaii and kids "airbender" package but this was the above price, I choose not to go that way and stay with the cheaper option.
  6. Hi all bidders. We wanted to spend 2 luxury nights right on the Niagara Falls with the best view and didn't want to take any chances with a random bet (with Priceline). Ended up booking a package for $215/nite 2 Adults & 2 Kids - 2 Queen Beds - Room is between floors 15 to 23, Breakfast is included (a big plus to us), $20 parking fee, View of Horseshoe Falls, NonSmoking. The amenities are: Swimming pool, Fitness centre, Business Centre, Meeting room, Wheelchair access, Hi Speed Internet, Wireless, Onsite Dinning & Whirlpool. If I had of booked the same thing thru the Embassy Hotel website, these 2 nights would have cost us CAD$552.00 I'm very happy with my purchase, it doesn't matter that I could have got it cheaper with bidding, you get what you pay for, I wanted View, high room, 2 beds & free breaky, which I don't think I would have got if I had taken my chances and bid. I hope some of this information is helpful to anyone. Thank you
  7. Tremont 3* - ($99 - Hotwire) Non Smoking, Boutique, Restaurant.
  8. I didn't take my chances I wanted the Tremont Hotel and I got it for $99 per night thru HOTWIRE (from your link here). I didn't know where to put the information but I wanted to let you know I found it and got it for August 26th & 27th - However when putting in for 2 adult and 2 children I couldn't see it, so I just put 2 adults and I'll call the hotel and let them know for 2 children too. My next hotel I'm searching for will be at Niagara Falls, but I'll wait until closer, it's 6 weeks away till we go there. Thanks for all your help.
  9. I've got an email from HOTWIRE with the hotel I want for $93 per night. So I came onto this website to use the HOTWIRE link but when searching for the same hotel (and price) it wasn't there. I want to be fair and use the link from this website but If I can't find it, what do I do. I'm pretty sure it was the Tremont - Boutique, non-smoking, restaurant - 3* NMA. Also just out of interst is it too early to bid on PRICELINE for the 26th August (2nites)? Thanks
  10. Hi, Found this one but not on the list. NMA 3* $99 Boutique, Non Smoking, Restuarants & Bed choice I looked it up on the list provide above, the closest thing I came across was the tremont hotel. Which one do you think it might be? Thanks
  11. Yes I called them today - Took them 5 minutes (international phone call) to find my booking. All good, I've told them our plane lands at 7am the 13th and we will be coming in sometime after 8am. (good part about them is the free breakfast, so we'll pigg out and then sleep). I got an upgrade from 1 queen bed to 2 queen beds but it's an extra $5 a night, is that right? Should I ask for an upgrade while confirming my booking or wait until we arrive (for future bookings).
  12. Wow Aaron JB this is FANTASTIC Big Thank you... Do you know if you have anything like this for other places ie Denver, Niagara Falls/Toronto, Michigan.?? Great help... The only thing I couldn't find, maybe cus I don't know how to look it up was Baseball at Chicago. We want to see the game White Sox VS New York Yankees on Friday 27th August. Any advice would be appricated, thanks from Leisa
  13. Thank you Colfax, I feel a whole lot better now, with breakfast included it will make up for it. This is my first WIN. It should be a nice walk to the beach. Even though I booked for 2 nites we are only staying 1 night as we arrive very early on the Friday 13th (booked for 12 & 13th) so we could check in straight away. We really just need a place to get over jet lag and then move onto our next desination, so Ihope it's got comfortable beds and not bugs (as reported). I will leave feedback once we have stayed.
  14. Hi there, Travelling to Chicago (2 Adults, 2 Kids) for 2 nights. 26th August - 28th August. Budget $120 p/n I've found these few, do you have a list I can check or would anyone know what these hotels might be: 4* - $119 - North Michigan Ave. Water Towers - Gold Coast. - Fitness, Rest, Business, HiSpeedNet 3* - $102 - Nth Michigan Ave. Water Towers - Gold Coast. - Boutique Hotel, Non Smoking rooms, Restaurant. 3* - $95 - Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Area - Fitness, Pool, Rest, Business, Laundry, HiSpeedNet. Thank you, any info of possible hotels above, would be very helpful As like on the California - priceline there's a list of all the hotels, this is very helpful (plus grateful to the people who have put it together). Would there be another one for Chicago areas Downtown etc.
  15. You so lucky, I bid on 3.5* for $60 got nothing. So I down graded to 2.5* for $50 and still nothing, then down again to 1* for $45 and got Ramada. I guess the secret is bidding much closer to the dates, I bidded 6 weeks away from date of arrival... I'll try this next time. Well done on your win.
  16. We bidded for 3* + at $60, 2*+ at $50 and went lower to 1* at $45 and Won. Ramada Limited - Redondo Beach. Not the hotel I wanted but you win some/loose some. Will report back when we go Check in - isn't until August 12th - 14th with 2 children (2 & 4) Is that all the info I need to share?
  17. Hi I'm looking at hotwire for a hotel in Redondo Beach CA on the 12th August - 14th August with 2 children (1 & 4yo). I've found this one on Hotwire - 2.5* $59 per night with complimentry Breakfast is all that it says in amenities. Could anyone tell me what hotel you think it could be? Thanks PS, I have nothing eles to report with other enquiries so please don't ask me to finish off other forum posts. Travel time is still 6 weeks away and I have been told by many on this site it's still to early for Priceline, that's why i'm looking into Hotwire. Any helpful tips for booking now would be appricated. (I'm a very orgainzed person and it's killing me not to have all this organized. FYI - We will be needing 2 nites in Chicago (downtown), 2 nites in Niagara Falls (cananda), 2 nites in Toronto. and of course I will post my winning bids in appriate places when time comes) Thanks everyone in advance for any help. (ps coming in from Australia)
  18. I haven't done anything yet as it's still 8 weeks away, I was told it's too early. I will add my winnings when it's done and of course I will add my results and feedback to where we stay for other future travellers as isn't that the idea of this forum.. Just so you know I will be travelling to these places and will bidding on most places for accomodation thru this website using the links and of course I'll add all my winnings etc Travelleing with 2 kids (2 & 4yrs old) over 26 days: California, Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Canada, Michigan back to California then back home to Australia.

I've been looking at Hotwire as they have options for bedding but I found this hotel and was wondering if anyone might know which hotel it could be. The 8 amenities are: Casino, Smoke free rooms, Fitness centre, pools, restuarants, buisness centre, high speed internet and childrens acitives program On Hirewire it has this hotel for $126 per night. The most I was willing to pay for aroom with a view is $130. Could anyone help with this. Thank you.
  20. Hi all, Family of 4 (2 Adults, 2 kids) coming in from Australia. I've been bidding for over 4 weeks now, every 2nd day going higher and higher and no luck Dates: (One night only) 13th August 2010 Applying for Redondo Beach/Manhattan Budget: $55 - 3.5* I have applied for the above dates in this area for even a 2 star hotel at $48 and was rejected. (started at $40, going up by $2 every 2nd day). I've read so many success stories of winning bids for this area (Crowne plaza keeps popping up) at winning bids of $45. Please assist or advice me of any what I need to do to win (I was thinking maybe I was bidding to far in advance). Thank you
