  1. If this is the St. Anthony, it's a really nice, grand old classic hotel at the corner of Travis and Navarro. It's a 3 block stroll to the Riverwalk; perfect location w/o any late night crowd noise.
  2. I booked the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson as a 3* on PL Thursday, March 3 for a stay coming up Saturday, March 12. Successful bid was $46+ taxes, $59.70 all in. Location to the Exchange Place PATH stop looks excellent for two stop access to the NYC WTC stop, where you can pick up the A/C/E/N/R/W/2/3 subway lines. Will file trip report after completing the stay.
  3. Stayed here on 3/1 as posted earlier. This hotel is on Williams Blvd. about 1 mile or so from the airport...the hotel shuttle took about 15 minutes to pick me up at MSY (11:45PM on a Tuesday night) and runs 24/7. From the Hotwire description: Selected amenities include: Airport Shuttle, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service). The rooms are OK in size, bathroom clean, bath amenities above average; furniture pretty cheap, dated and worn, though. Bed was comfortable; sheets were clean but very worn out and the spread looked old...didn't really want it anywhere near me. Coffee maker in room as well. The covered pool is in the center of the surrounding two story rooms indoors, it looked pretty nice. There's a large concrete patio area with tables and chairs surrounding the pool for taking your morning coffee or relaxing, hot tub as well. Fitness center was adequate; did not try the restaurant, but noted that room service prices were very reasonable. The high speed internet is free through Wayport, although the signal in both the lobby and room was extremely weak (and I have an IBM T42, which really does a great job picking up signals). Staff was above average, shuttle drivers courteous. All in all, an OK stay, although I think I'd try booking this as a $40 3* on PL before doing this again thru Hotwire; I felt that 3-1/2* was overrating the property after staying as well....typical of my recent HW experiences.
  4. This is the third year in a row I have placed a Hotwire "bid" for the 3-1/2* at the PHX Airport and have received the Embassy Suites at 44th St. This year's bid was placed on 12 December 2004 for a stay March 18-21, as a group of us are headed down for Spring Training. Total was $61 per night, $210.95 for 3 nights incl. fees. I've also bid the 3* at PHX and received the Holiday Inn nearby, which I thought was a total dump, even for $44. This really is not a "bad" property, I'd take it any day over the PHX ES on Thomas Road. The accesss to freeways and Sky Harbor is terrific, and I've never had any problem with "the neighborhood". I will say that the breakfasts have been very subpar...quality of food was poor last year to the point where several of us went elsewhere and paid for breakfast. Pool is adequate, staff is decent, suites are decent and IMHO this is an unbeatable deal for a suite during Spring training.
  5. Bid $80 for this property on 7 December 2004, PL "countered" with $90, so I took it. Stay is for two nights, Feb. 19-21, 2005. Trip Advisor reviews hav generally been favorable.
  6. 3-1/2* in Kenner: Holiday Inn Select New Orleans Airport. Reservation made January 19, $67.95 with all fees. Tried a $45 3* PL bid for MSY Airport area for those dates, not accepted. As usual, in my experiences with Hotwire, this is really taking liberties calling a Holiday Inn Select 3-1/2*.
