  1. We went ahead with the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $121. It was the Courtyard Nashville Vanderbilt/West End. After getting the reservation in Priceline, I went to the hotel's website and searched for our reservation. t was there, and it indicated we had a 2 queen bed room. So we are happy. I may also call just to make sure they don't change it. Thanks for the help.
  2. Thanks for the info. I did check Hotwire, and I do not see near as good of a deal there. The PRICELINE EXPRESS deal is for a 3* in the Vanderbilt/West End area for $121. Of course that's more like $150 with tax and fees, and $175 when you add on parking. My guess is that this is either the Holiday Inn or Hilton Garden Inn, just from looking at the Express Deal and comparing it to the named hotels on Priceline. I looked at those hotels' websites and the king bed room and the 2 queen room were the same price. We would be there from June 22-25, and under $200 per night including tax, fees, and parking would be what we are looking for. We would want to be in the West End area. Thanks again.
  3. We are traveling to Nashville in June and would prefer to stay in the Vanderbilt-West End area. I have used Hotwire several times, but have never used Priceline. Priceline currently shows a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal that we are considering. But we need a room for 4 people. Priceline only guarantees that the room will sleep 2 people. They do say that after you make the reservation that you can contact the hotel and try to get a certain type of room - in our case we need 2 double or queen beds - but no guarantee. I was wondering how difficult it usually is to get a 2 bed room? I would call immediately, which is over 3 months in advance. But I was just curious as to how cooperative hotels are with people who get their rooms through Priceline. Thanks.
  4. Here are the amenities I found. Pet friendly Boutique hotel Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Accessible for hearing impaired In-room accessibility Accessible parking
  5. We finally decided to choose this hotel. The amenities are Boutique hotel Business center Fitness center Internet access Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms
  6. Sorry about not letting you know where we stayed. I just updated that thread.
  7. We ended up not using Hotwire or Priceline this time. We stayed at the Drury by Union Station.
  8. We will be in St Louis Aug 26-28, 2016. I see a 3.5 star hotel in downtown St Louis for $73. It is 80% recommended. The amenities are: Boutique hotel Business center Fitness center Internet access Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms. I didn't see any boutique hotels listed in the 3.5 star listing. Any ideas? Thanks.
  9. The first question is which hotel is in the Lafayette Square area. It's the only hotel in that area that is showing up on Hotwire. Is it the HI Express? We have never stayed there. The downtown hotel that we have stayed at for several years was at first a HI Select, then it was a Ramada Plaza. When I called them recently, they said they are now a HI again, and it would be at the Convention Center. I think I may be confusing you in the way I asked the questions. The original question was just IDing the 2.5* Lafayette Square area hotel with the amenities listed. The other question was about the HI Convention Center. Has it's star rating changed from what it was a year ago, which was 3*. Sorry for the confusion.
  10. I just tried it and it still comes up. With 2 adults it shows as $118 today. I used 4 adults yesterday to make sure we got 2 beds. Also, I had mentioned that we had stayed at a 3* for several years. It had been a HI or Ramada, depending on the year. I called them and they are back to being a HI. Either their star rating has changed, they don't have availability, and/or their rate has gone way up, but I don't see them in Hotwire - or at least I don't recognize them. Do you have any idea of the star rating of the Holiday Inn downtown? Thanks.
  11. I'm sure the Sheraton will be fine. Here are the amenities from Hotwire: Hotel Amenities Free parking Free Internet Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Golf nearby Accessibility Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking We will be at Wrigley for a whole day (doubleheader). The other things we plan to see are the Riverwalk, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Shedd's Aquarium, Sears Tower, Mag Mile, and Botanical Garden. So most of the time we will probably be taking mass transit. I know you mentioned a well known pizza place in Northbrook. What was it? Other local places would be good too, either in Northbrook or downtown. Thanks again.
  12. We saw the 4* in Northbrook at $97, which was lower than before, and it was the only 4* listed, so we were hoping it was the Renaissance North Shore, but we got the Sheraton. Hopefully not a big deal. The Sheraton is 90% recommended, but I assume it is not as convenient to the Metra.
  13. OK. Here are the full list of amenities. FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower Thanks.
  14. We plan to go to St. Louis from Aug. 14-16 and would like to stay downtown. We used Hot.wire the past several years to get a 3* hotel for a really good price, which always turned out to be the Holiday Inn Select/Ramada Plaza (same hotel). Not great reviews but it worked for us. I no longer see that hotel listed. I expanded my search and see a 2.5* hotel in the Lafayette Park area for $125. It is 90% recommended and has the following amenities. I can't find it identified anywhere. Can you help? Thanks. Amenities Business center Fitness center Free Internet Free breakfast Free parking Indoor pool(s) Pool(s)
  15. The dates are firm. We will arrive in Chicago on July 6 and leave on July 10, so 4 nights.
  16. A friend of mine from Naperville thinks wee should stay out there and ride the Metra in, but we will be going to Wrigley and the downtown area for at least 3 days and I think that is too far out. I am possibly looking at the Lombard-Oak Brook-Downers Grove area. Is that too far out? It doesn't look much different on the map than North I see a 4.5* hotel in that area for $81 that has a 95% recommendation. It has the following amenities: Amenities Business center Fitness center Free parking Indoor pool(s) Internet access Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms I would be interested in which hotel this might be, and also the location and is it too far? Thanks.
  17. Well, we are still looking. I just went to Hotwire and chose the Evanston/Niles/Skokie area again. I still see the 3* available for around $87-$90. The one that is 80% recommended. When I clicked on it, Hotwire put up a blue box that said "Book soon. The last person gotthe Evanston Homestead. The amenities list is: Amenities Business center Fitness center Free Internet Free parking Indoor pool(s) Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry On Tripadvisor I see varying reviews. Is this property likely the Homestead? If so, how is the hotel, and how convenient to get downtown and Wrigley? Thanks.
  18. I see a 3* hotel in Northbrook for $86 with the following amenities that is 90% recommended. Would you know or have an idea what hotel it might be? Thanks. Amenities Business center Fitness center Free Internet Free parking Golf nearby Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry
  19. I see a 3 star hotel in Evanston/Skokie/Niles for $88 withe the following amenities. Hotwire also says it is 80% recommended. Amenities Business center Fitness center Free Internet Free parking Indoor pool(s) Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry I searched on Evanston and do not see any 3 stars that have been identified recently. Back in 2014 I saw the Holiday Inn as a 3 star, but it had different amenities. Also, is there a big difference in which of these 3 towns to stay in? Thanks.
  20. We will be arriving July 6, and we will be driving. The games at Wrigley are on the 7th. Best guess right now is we will be in Chicago until Friday or Saturday. So it's an hour from OHare to downtown? Is that driving or mass transit? I'm sure we will take mass transit to Wrigley and downtown. Not sure about other places. I would like to stay somewhere with free parking and tops $100. That's why we are not looking downtown. We could pay more, but that's just what I would prefer, especially since the hotel is basically a place to sleep. But we don't want a dump either. The suburbs sound the best for us, but we don't want to be too far out either. Thanks.
  21. My wife and I are travelling to Chicago in July. It will be our first time there, and we have no idea where to stay. We are spending 1 entire day at Wrigley field for a day-night double header, but will be doing other things the rest of the time. So I guess staying somewhere reasonably close to Wrigley and the mass transit to get there, would be a plus. Currently looking at Evanston and O'Hare areas. We won't be in a hotel much, so don't want to spend much. I did see a 4 star at ORD South for $60 or so. any ideas on that or anyplace else to stay? Thanks in advance.
