  4. awesome bidding!! i want to get a great deal like yours. hopefully by replying to your post i will gain some luck. how far away is the wild animal park from this hotel/area? thanks, carlos
  5. We stayed here for our honeymoon. The room given to us was "huge" and it even had a fireplace, which i could not get going, and it had two sinks for washing up and a wall to wall mirror. it was so nice, the bed was pretty big too. i did mention that is was our honeymoon and i think that is why we got that room. i did tip the nice lady helping us, she said that she was upgrading us. It was on the second floor and you could walk out right onto the greens, i believe it was a golf course or tennis area. we did not hear any traffic and loved our stay. it was relatively close to the monterey aquarium (4 stars) and other fun places. the next night we stayed at a bed&breakfast in pacific grove and that room was only 1/5 the size of the hyatt's but cost about double what we paid for the hyatt. we give it 5 out of 5 stars. keep in mind that it was our honeymoon. but the room was awesome. geesh it has been a long time since i last posted. thanks for your tips that made our honeymoon so much better.
  6. it is listed under the costa mesa (sna) zone, but the hotel itself is in irvine.
  7. i just won this hotel for 46$ plus 11.46$ in taxes. it is listed as a 4* and i believe other poster's have listed this hotel at 3*. i was hoping for the westin, oh well. for the night of 8/8/03.
  8. hey all, just wanted to post this question to get an idea of the great wins that have landed some of you at an awesome place. please feel free to post. you can also post the worst hotels that you have won. -carlos
  9. thanks for all your info. this will be of great help. i already have a hotel/time share in cabo. it is a wedding gift for a week from a friend of ours. first week drive up ca. coast next week fly down to cabo. i just wanted to help our friend find the lowest rate. thank you again.
  10. any suggestions for the best airfaire deals? i don't want to risk losing 2 days of my trip, so any service that will help w/ this is welcomed.
  11. i was wondering what kind of wins one usually gets for airline tickets, also is LAX--SJD(cabo san lucas) cheaper than SNA(john wayne)--SJD? that is what it seems like, maybe because SNA is a smaller airport?
  12. great forum, i too have made "first time pl user mistakes" i even made one recently (did not lower bid on re-bid for lower rated hotel) but i have found so much info on these boards that i know i will be able to make much better bids in the future. starr, i believe that if you read thru the other posts on these board , especially the tips forum then you will be able to get great info on making better bids. have fun on your trip.
  13. thanks for the link, i am looking forward to my stay at crowne plaza but was wondering why peteropny would be sorry to have gotten crowne over hyatt. had he stayed at both before? do they treat pl customers differently?
  14. is the crowne plaza not as good, i know it is rated 3* compared to hyatt at 4*. how was your stay there? thanks.
  15. thereuare, great advice and, from i have read on other posts, members on this forum are awesome sources of information and techniques for getting the best deal. thanks everyone. edit- just called crowne plaza and requested and got the 1 king size bed, clerk didn't seem to be affected by it being my honeymoon. i will try the e-mail approach. also i offered to give my membership number for the affinity club but the clerk dissmissed it and asked for my last name.
  16. this one took a while. started with in irvine w/ 4* hotels selected bid 25$ then rejected hoping for hyatt regency. next 26$ with costa mesa added hoping for hyatt again. next 27& with seal/huntington added hoping for " " then 30 dollars with 3 star hotels added got crowne plaza. this is going to be our first night together(honeymoon), because our apartment will not be available until after we leave for our honeymoon on sat 08/09/03 and we had already budgeted for the trip so this was an extra add on. we had been hoping to spend our first honeymoon night at home (new apartment). (the story so far: two students getting married basically broke trying to enjoy a honeymoon up the california coast.) how can i get the best room possible(better than what pl has assinged) at this hotel? any suggestions? i will follow thereuare's suggestion of joining crowne plaza's hotel membership and asking for a 1 king bed room any other tips? thanks alot. i am very grateful i found this forum.
  17. thanks for the info beav, just to clarify: for priceline hotel rooms we are assigned a room at check-in? or is one already set for you? also when requesting a 1 king bed room is this concidered an upgrade, and when calling a hotel to make the request do they check if you made your reservation thru priceline? any help will be greatly appriciated. thanks.
  18. thereuare, thank you so much for your comments. after reading the reviews for both hotels at tripadvisor i am more confident with my buy there seems to be more positives than negatives for both hotels and i am sure our honeymoon will be what we make of it. i think i will follow your advice and join the membership program for each hotel. thanks again and i will be sure to review these hotels upon my return.
  19. yes please, tell us how you contacted pl for a refund after such an awful ordeal. i am a new priceline customer. thanks
