  1. I have stayed midtown a couple of times so wanted to stay in a different area. So probably rather bid in Soho Downtown Financial area, is there a history of winning bids in any other hotels other than financial district? Thinking budget of $150+tax, is that reasonable? Maybe I might wait to see if any more inventory comes up? hotwire seems to have the world center hotel, and I don't want to get that.
  2. Used the BB link Bidded 2 rooms 2 nights 6/29/11-7/1/11 4* Los Angeles (Hollywood) $119 rejected, 4* Los Angeles (Hollywood) added re-bid Lawndale $125 rejected, 4* Los Angeles (Hollywood) added re-bid Redondo-Manhattan beaches $130 rejected 4* Los Angeles (Hollywood) added re-bid Culver city $135 rejected I think I used up all my re-bid zones? Have to try again in another 24 hours? Do you think because I am bidding for two rooms it is not working out? When bidding the median retail price is $247 IN 29 June OUT 1 JULY Priceline RETAIL 4* Roosevelt Hollywood $239 4* W Hollywood $247 4* Renaissance Hollywood and Spa $259 HOTWIRE Retail 4* $181+tax ? 3. I used the BB PRICELINE link. I bidded for two rooms, 3 nights, IN 18 June OUT 21 June. Accepted $145/night Westin Copley Place. Congratulations, your price of $145 was accepted by The Westin Copley Place. Bid 4* Copley Square + re-bid zone 4 $130 rejected Bid 4* Copley Square + re-bid zone 1 $135 rejected Bid 4* Copley Square + re-bid zone 2 $140 rejected Bid 4* Copley Square + re-bid zone 3 $145 Accepted Westin Copley Place Copley Square - Theatre District Brighton - Brookline RE-BID Fenway Park Medford - Somerville RE-BID North Cambridge - Arlington RE-BID South Boston I am happy with the 4* Westin for $145/night plus tax, the full rate is $299/night plus tax more than 50% off. $28/night cheaper than hotwire. $20/night more than a couple of other recent users.
  4. The median retail price in the name your own price shows as $290.
  5. Yes, sorry I meant Copley Square-Theatre District zone. You mentioned at the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. I could see immediately two re-bid zones, but not confident about the further three zones, as on priceline the zones with 0 hotels in 4* don't immediately translate to the zones in name your own price bidding. If you could please let me know the exact three further zones? Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium Boston Waterfront - Convention Center Brighton - Brookline RE-BID Cambridge Copley Square - Theatre District Fenway Park Medford - Somerville RE-BID North Cambridge - Arlington Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial Revere - Logan Airport (BOS) South Boston I went through the BB link. I bid at $122 rejected, at re-bid zone Brighton-Brookline, bid at $125 rejected, added re-bid zone Medford-Somerville, bid at $130 rejected. I closed the browser. Can you let me know the next re-bid zones to continue bidding. I noticed another user bidding 4* Copley Square-Theatre District for the saturday prior to my dates 11 June and won the Westin at $125. So was hoping Saturday 18th was going to be similar?
  6. I clicked the PRICELINE link. I want to bid only in the Boston Back Bay Copley Square area. A maximum bid of $150 plus tax, doesn't that sound reasonable? Considering Hotwire has rates for $173 and $209 and includes a Saturday night Hotwire has for these dates: 4* Boston Common - Theatre District $209 Amenities: Boutique, Smoke Free, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, 95% The Back Bay hotel? 4* Boston (Back Bay - Copley Square) $173 Amenities: Bed Choice, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business ? Westin Where would you suggest starting to bid?
  7. Plans now are firm to check out on 21 June. 3 nights from 18 June. I would appreciate help with bidding strategy.
  8. It seems like most people are getting hotels in the financial district and on hotwire for these dates it seems like World Centre Hotle. If I want to avoid getting a hotel in the Financial district, do you suggest I bid in another area? I was aiming to stay in the downtown soho area, wanting to be close to walk to lots of restaurants, bars and shopping. Where would you suggesting bidding?
  9. I do use the bb board links to begin purchases. I will use the bb links each time I access the sites.
  10. Hi. I replied to my previous Chelsea thread. I didn't end up going with Priceline or Hotwire as didn't get the price or hotel I was looking for and ran out of time. I ended up staying at the newly opened Fashion 26 Wyndham hotel, now Hilton Fashion District, through octopustravel.com, a great choice. If you could help with this NY stay that would be great.
  11. Hi I didn't end going with Priceline or Hotwire as couldn't get the price I was looking for and then time ran out. Ended up staying at Fashion 26 Wyndham Hotel, now Hilton Fashion District, booked a deal through octopustravel.com, which was about $AUD200/night including taxes. The hotel was great, the rooms great, beds comfy, good bathroom, nice decor, wifi in the rooms and computers for use downstairs, a newly opened hotel at the time and the staff were really helpful, free cupcakes. Decent walk to midtown. Really enjoyed the hotel but didn't really find any good places to eat in the area by night.
  12. Hi I am trying for the Sheraton Tribeca (3.5* Downtown-Soho) for 6 nights from 23 June. I have staying in Mid Town West and Chelsea Fashion District, so would like to try another area but don't want to go as far down as Wall St, prefer the Soho area. From recent bids it seems Sheraton Tribeca is a possibility but I have also noticed Club Quarters Wall St for a lower price which I want to avoid. Can you suggest any bidding strategies to help my chance with Sheraton Tribeca 6/23/11-6/29/11? and to avoid Wall St? Or would it be safer to try 4*? Are there are recommended hotels in that area? Thanks! priceline.com Sheraton Tribeca $243/night 3.5* Club Quarters Wall St $205/night 3/5*
  13. Hi I am looking to bid on a 4* hotel in Boston Copley Square-Theater District for 3-4 nights, checking in 18 June. Can you suggest a bidding strategies for these dates. I looked at the prices on priceline for these dates (below) and recent winning bids for similar hotels on the better bidding forums. Looking for a good hotel in central location, with a pool would be good. Can you advise where to start my bidding strategy for these dates and what is the likelihood/chance of getting these hotels based on previous bids. Thanks! Boston IN 18 June OUT 21-22 June priceline.com Westin Copley Place $314/night 4* (#37 TripAdvisor) Back Bay Hotel $255/night 4* (#5 TripAdvisor) Copley Square $251/night 4* (#14 TripAdvisor) Sheraton $216/night 3.5* (#39 TripAdvisor) betterbidding.com Westin Copley Place $88-160/night 4* Back Bay Hotel $96-100/night 4* Copley Square $100-110/night 4* Sheraton $95-120/night 3.5*
  14. I just tried to bid 122 Chelsea 2.5* rejected saying something about constantly changing inventory and unable to offer that price. It said try again and I tried 124 but it said I must change something. Yes I want to eliminate CPS I would like something not so far away from Penn station. Thinking max bid 150 is that realistic? Does it increases your chances if bidding in more than one zone? Does that mean you can get a hotel in any of those zones? I was thinking ESB might be closer?
  15. If I was to bid 3* level MTW, TS, ESB, and Chelsea, can you suggest a price strategy? Considering I can bid again today for Chelsea 3* above $140 and Chelsea 2.5* above 120 I am not so interested in the HOTWIRE hotel at the moment would prefer to bid on PRICELINE to see if I have any luck
  16. can you please advise what a likely successful bid for Chelsea 3* for these dates. can you also please advise what a likely successful bid for Chelsea 2.5* for these dates. I will try for the lowest price in either. I am ultimately looking for a good hotel for the lowest price as I am only one person for this stay What other areas would you recommend to bid in? I am staying in Chelsea before these dates and need to extend my stay by 2 days that is why I was trying to bid in Chelsea. I have previously bid on priceline in Chelsea and Madison square garden and ended up with the ramada new yorker. I don't want to end up with that hotel again so that's why I stuck to Chelsea only. Can u recommend any other good area with good hotels in it? Thanks
  17. This morning the hotwire rate was $65 75% reviews for 4* LAX. By the time I went back in to make the booking it had changed to $75 80% reviews for 4* LAX Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles 6101 West Century Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, 90045 (310) 642-1111 Check-in Thu, Apr 22, 2010 Check-out Fri, Apr 23, 2010 Amenities Smoke Free RoomsAirport ShuttleFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet Access This is the hotel I wanted so happy with the hotwire rate $75, I thought of bidding on priceline for a lower rate but was worried I would end up with the Westin, so happy with the outcome and thanks for your help! 4-star hotel in LA Intl Airport LAX $75 80% reviews This hotel features the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access
  18. Dates 05/05/10 - 05/07/10 I tried bidding Chelsea $110 for 2.5* Rejected (median price has gone up to $248, however retail price Holiday Inn Express $208) I tried bidding Chelsea $135 for 3* Rejected (median price $224) I tried bidding Chelsea $140 for 3* Rejected Used the bb PRICELINE link Originally wanted 3* but would be happy with the Holiday Inn Express 2.5* near penn station to head to Newark on checkout. Do you have any suggestions on what prices would be accepted? I have to wait 24 hours now
  19. 4-star hotel in LA Intl Airport LAX This hotel features the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Would this hotwire hotel be a match for the Sheraton Gateway? on April 22 out 23 April $65 75% recommended reviews
  20. First bid $120 3* Chelsea not accepted. Added MSG Bid $130. Accepted Ramada Plaza New York. Not that happy with outcome as wanted Chelsea near W26th St and got 34th St. Oh well what can you do.
  21. I am looking to bid on priceline for an upscale 3* hotel in the Chelsea area as my friends have already booked a hotel on W26th street. It looks like the median price is $237 and five hotels on priceline in the 3* category, ranging from 174, 205, 237, 246, 288, Wyndham Garden, Holiday Inn, Double Tree, Four Points, Hotel Indigo. Don't really mind which hotel we get obviously the better for the lower price. Looking at bidding from $100 up until $130, do you think it is possible to win a bid in this price range, on the priceline web site I have seen someone gain $145 for a 3* in Chelsea, wanted lower than that. Can you suggest a bidding strategy? Do you know of any recent successes in the Chelsea area?
  22. If would be great if you ID the hotels for me. As I am not sure what bidding strategy to use to try to get Sheraton Gateway for 1 night 22 April, do you have any suggestions? I can't see anybody very recently getting the Sheraton Gateway. I saw a couple of people getting the Renaissance and the Westin. I have heard that the Westin was not that good so was trying to avoid it. Looking at the Hotwire $79 I was thinking it may be the Westin? Would that mean if it is on hotwire it is also likely to be on priceline? Would it be better to wait? I see that the Sheraton 25% rate ends of 30 March and wondering if this price increase will increase the priceline rate as well?
  23. I took a risk and bid on Priceline and won the W Hotel Hollywood for $119. I didn't want to risk it as the median hotel price was $209, which is available on the W hotel website for these dates, and by the time I sorted out my problems with the billing address, it had gone up to $269 median price. So I first bid $119 and it was accepted straightaway. I bid through the Betting Bidding's PRICELINE link. Very happy with this, thanks for your helpful website. I had to put CA as my state and Zip code 99999, as suggested by others on your forums. Congratulations, your price of $119 was accepted by W Hollywood. Check-In Date: Wed, May 5, 2010 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Fri, May 7, 2010 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $119.00 Subtotal: $238.00 Taxes & Fees: $43.74 Total Charges*: $281.74
  24. Ok, Thanks, I would prefer the Sheraton gateway but willing to accept any other 4* LAX hotel. Just not sure if priceline accept non-US/Canadian credit cards? What would be the best priceline strategy to try for Sheraton gateway, on April 22, on sheraton.com cheapest rate is $104 sale ending today. I have seen others in your past forum getting it for $55-70. Thanks for your help. HOTWIRE 4-star hotel in LA Intl Airport LAX, $79 This hotel features the following amenities: Airport Shuttle Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access
  25. If going for priceline, I was going to try for W Hotel at $119. In terms of strategy would it be best to bid straight away $119, or would it be better to do as otherwise suggested an bid $99 rejected, add lawndale and bid $119.
