  3. Thanks for the info. Can you please close this thread. I'm going to look at other options. With the price drop for Le Montrose, I decided not to bid any further, as I didn't really want to get that hotel. As my last bid was unsuccessful at $185 + taxes = $219, and it was suggested a win maybe $190-$210 ($224-248 with tax), which is not that far off some retails rates for some known hotels.
  4. Thanks for your reply, made me feel a bit better. I did call Priceline customer relations and they confirmed its non refundable non changeable, so couldn't help me out, they could only give me $10 bonus cash for my next purchase
  5. I haven't made any more bids as yet but just noticed the average retail price has gone down from $325 to $298, which looks like Le Montrose dropping from $340 to $269. Do you know if the retail side drops are linked to the bidding side? Just wondering if that hotel has had a price drop it would be more likely to show up in bidding? Just as le montrose is my least preferred hotel in the 4*category. I know you have to be willing to accept any hotel, but wondering if I should started bidding again at a little lower than my last bid?
  6. Bid 3* MIA airport $55, 58, 60, 64 Used rebid zones. Totally stuffed up on my last bid and accidentally selected north Miami beach (instead of north Miami which has no 4* hotels) and ended up with Newport beach resort in north Miami :( for 64 plus taxes $80, said I saved 40% Disappointed, I need a one night stay at the airport and now I am stuck in north Miami for my mistake. Wish I could give it to someone else! The reviews are pretty dismal
  7. Tried bidding 4* Los Angeles (Beverly Hills - West Hollywood) for four nights 5/20 - 5/24 Bid $140 - 185 using rebid zones over couple days and $10 bonus cash (bit confused with the bonus cash as to whether it really works adding $10 to the bid price as my final bid was $175 but total bid was $185 with bonus, the taxes are different to doing a straight bid at that price) Not successful. The average retail price is $325. what do you think my chances are? What price range do you think I need for a win Retail 4* Andaz West Hollywood Hyatt West Hollywood 295 4* Beverly Hilton REVIEW 325 4* Le Montrose Suites 341 4* Mondrian Hotel 345 4* Petit Ermitage (aka - Hotel Le Petit) 275 4* Sofitel 4* Thompson Beverly Hills 253 4* Wyndham Belage (now the London West Hollywood... not yet reported to the board)
  8. Bid 5* Las Vegas (Strip South) using re-bid zones $70, $75, $80, $85, $90, $95, $100, $106. Won at $106 Additional Nights: 1 Number of Rooms: 1 Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $106.00 Subtotal: $106.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $21.56 Total Charges*: $127.56 It asked me if I wanted to extend my stay at the same rate, I thought about it for a bit, then clicked yes to extend for one day, but then it said not available at same rate of $106, the rate for this night is $335 :( It is a Friday night. We searched The Cosmopolitan Of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection, however we were not able to find an additional night for your price of $106 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request. During our search we found a rate of $335 per room, per night.
  9. Can you please close this thread. I had no luck with bidding for 4* oceanfront. Prices getting too high. I tried one last bid $250 unsuccessful. I booked through Onhotels for three nights 5/17/12-5/20/12 for the 4* Dream South Beach. Total $551 including tax, $183/night including tax, probably about $160/night + tax.
  10. We have ruled out the Penguin, the person I am travelling with doesn't like the Penguin, prefers the oceanfront category, as doesn't want to risk the Lords in the Central category. I haven't seen a reported win for the Lords but I guess you can't guarantee it? I myself do like the Dream, and would be happy with that. I ended up bidding higher than hoped for, but all round the prices seem expensive, especially for weekend rates. Not sure even if they have inventory for my dates?
  11. Yes I thought about that, 16th airport hotel, changed south beach dates Bid 4* Miami south beach oceanfront 5/17/12-5/20/12 up to $245. Not successful (includes Friday and Saturday night)
  12. I bid 4* South Beach (Oceanfront - Collins) $190, $195, $200, $205, $210, $215. No luck. 5/16/12 - 5/19/12 3 nights Includes a Friday night which is much more expensive. Median hotel price $453. Whereas 2 nights WED/THU median hotel price $330. The 4* Surfcomber is Priceline retail $319/night (3 nights $1083), $239/night (2 nights TOTAL $536). When checking Friday night alone, Surfcomber doesn't show as available for one night but that's a difference of $547 between two and three night rates, making a win hard over three nights. But don't want to bid for two nights as we are arriving late on the first night, would have the day/night and have to check out the next morning.
  13. I checked the priceline hotel list in my above first post. My question was if you have known the Lords (formerly Hotel Nash) to have been reported as a win in 4* South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront? I did a search for south beach and couldn't see it. I realise you can't eliminate a certain hotel, just wondering whether the chances of getting the Lords is high or not based on past reported wins. I prefer not to have the Lords. It is a large price difference $157 to other hotels in that category $300 plus. I have been looking at Trip Advisor reviews. It seems bidding in each south beach category may include some hotels with less than favourable reviews. Currently looking at a budget bidding upto $200, ideally less for a 3.5* (for example retail Lords is $157 4* Oceanfront from your hotel listing, however, when you look at the priceline map, it appears two blocks back from lummus park rather than oceanfront, is it in the right category) Miami (South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront) Resort Loews-- tripadvisor review 4* Hotel Nash (now Lords South Beach) (South Beach Oceanfront - Collins)$157 4* The National (South Beach Oceanfront - Collins) 4* The Raleigh Hotel (South Beach Oceanfront - Collins) 4* Sagamore Hotel Greenview Hotel $545 4* The Shore Club (South Beach Oceanfront - Collins)$361 4* The Surfcomber Miami South Beach Doubletree Surfcomber (South Beach Oceanfront - Collins) $319 3* South Seas Hotel (South Beach-Collins Oceanfront) 2.5* Royal Palm (previously 3*) (South Beach Oceanfront - Collins) REVIEW / trip advisor review
  14. Offer Price: US$153.00 avg. per room, per night Rooms: 1 Nights: 4 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: US$612.00 Taxes & Fees: US$136.32 Total Charged to Card: US$748.32 Bid yesterday at $151 not successful, prior to that bid $140 unsuccessful. Was counter offered $175. Today Won the Marriott Grand Cayman $153. (Retail 4* priceline $259 Marriott, $289 Westin, $297 Grand Cayman)
  15. The Pelican is worth considering, was looking more for something with a pool. Do you know of any (South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront) reported on this forum? What price range would you suggest bidding for 3.5* and 4*? I know there is no way of avoiding a certain hotel on bidding but have you ever heard of the Lords being won for 4*? Couldn't see it on here - it is a big price difference $157 to $300, is it the right category? or was that just for an old Hotel Nash win and no longer applies? In your opinion are all the hotels ok in these categories to bid?
  16. Thinking about bidding up to $200 in Miami, South beach, ideally 4* first, but seems like it might be expensive, so maybe also 3.5* in the three main zones, first preference is lowest price oceanfront, then best hotel in other category, being direct beach access or close to beach preferred, but if not nicest hotel. It doesn't seem that the (South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront) has any 3.5* reported on this forum, and can't see one on the retail side, do you know of any? As it seems to allow you to bid on 3.5* but does that mean that you might just get anything 3.5* and above? Hesistant to bid (South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront) 4* as is pricey, but also don't really want the Lords, I know there is no way of avoiding a certain hotel on bidding but have you ever heard of the Lords being won for 4*? Couldn't see it on here - it is a big price difference $157 to $300, is it the right category? or was that just for an old Hotel Nash win and no longer applies? In your opinion are all the hotels ok in these categories? My stay includes a Friday night which could bump up the prices, do you think I should bid all nights, or split? 17. Thanks for the info, that's helpful Bid $151. Unsuccessful. Will try again tomorrow. "We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $151 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged. If you are willing to raise your price by $24 to $175 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now." I saw someone recently bid up to $160, without sucess, but earlier others $152, $153. I was thinking of trying smaller increments over a few days, unless you think best to next bid $160?
  18. I bid $140 4* cayman islands, 4 nights, 5/12/12-5/16/12, 1 room. Unsuccessful Was offered an instant rebid for an additional $35 to $175. Didn't take it. I was thinking to next bid $151? It seems like this could be the Marriott? When I went to rebid the 4* was greyed out but also the resort category. Does this mean it is assumed when you bid on 4* you are also bidding on resorts and could get this? Are they equivalent ? Another thought when I went to try resort first and put in 140, it came up with this bid is unlikely to be accepted based on recent data, I put in increments of $10 up to $200 and all with the same message. Even though the resort category has "best deal" next to it?? I was thinking this was the Westin. Westin $289 Marriott $259 Grand cayman beach suites $297 Is the Marriott a good choice?
  19. Can you please close this thread. I am sticking with the Mondrian Soho booked through hotels.com I didn't have any luck bidding on Priceline up to $205 in times square and soho, so very happy with the hotels.com rate $195+tax, less than I was bidding. It must have been just a one day sale as I was bidding the day before and checking hotels and didn't see it, then the next day booked it as soon as I saw it, checked back the day after and was no longer available on hotels and gone up to $465 on Priceline
  20. I just booked a cancellable reservation through hotels.com Mondrian Soho $195+tax = $228 / night 5/7-5/11 I think this is better than bidding on Priceline. Do you?
  21. I used the BB links. I used 7 re-bid zones $125 to $180 for 4* Soho Tribeca. Unsuccessful Bid 4* Soho Tribeca and Times Square using re-bid zones, $185 - $205. Unsuccessful. Not sure how much higher to go for a win.
  22. Trying to bid for 2 rooms, 4 nights 5/7/12-5/11/12, 4* Hotel, 1st choice zone Times Square, 2nd choice zone Soho Tribeca Travelling with others, Times Square may be the better option for them - first time visitors, easy walking, I would prefer Soho Tribeca (been to NYC a few times), currently looking at maximum bid of $200+plus tax, but it may not be enough for times square seeing a recent winner of $225, others don't want to go below 4*, may consider going above 200, will need to discuss Unsucessful bids - 160, 165, 170, 175, 180 4* Times Square - Unsuccessful bid up to $180+tax = $218/night Posted Winners 4* Times Square - Winner $205+tax = $249, Winner $225+tax = $271, Average Retail $449+tax 4* Soho Tribeca - Winner $140+tax = $170, Winner $160+tax = $194, Average Retail $409+tax New York City (SoHo - Tribeca) 4* 60 Thompson $414/night 4* James Soho $399/night 4* Mondrian Soho 4* Sheraton Tribeca (previous 3.5*) $298/night 4* Soho Grand $409/night 4* Tribeca Grand $409/night New York City (Times Square - Theatre District) 5* Chatwal New York City 4* Crowne Plaza Times Square (previously 3.5*) $379/night 4* Hilton Times Square tripadvisor review $371/night 4* Inter-Continental Times Square $449/night 4* Marriott Marquis (previously 3.5*) REVIEW / tripadvisor review $499/night 4* The Muse $357/night 4* Renaissance tripadvisor review $499/night 4* Westin NY Times Square REVIEW / tripadvisor review $469/night
  23. The day before made a bid of $120 4* Hollywood, bid rejected. They recommended to bid $157, so just bid $157 and won the W Hollywood for nights 21 Jan and 22 Jan. this is the hotel we wanted so happy with the win, compared to a retail price of $280
  24. Hi, Can you please close this thread. I decided not to go with hotwire and didn't have any luck bidding with priceline. I decided to book a cancellable reservation using my points. Thanks.
  25. Thanks for this, I decided not to go with hotwire as I didn't want the Hilton. I tried bidding on priceline using the bb link for 5* Waikiki beach, from 150 to 240 in 5 dollar increments, all unsuccessful for 17/11-19/11 two nights. As I could redeem hotel point awards on the other night. Retail price is 345-360. I haven't seen any wins for 5*, do you know if anyone has been successful with 5*, is it unlikely?
